SANTA’S LITTLE HELPER🎅🏼 Well we eve-ntually made it, and once again it’s the night before Christmas. In my case the night before our first Christmas before driving down south for Round 2 on Boxing Day! 🎄 ... The presents are old wrapped under the tree, the fire is on and I am feeling very festive and excited to spend the next few days with people I love 🥰 ... THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST 💫 The upcoming change in decade has had me thinking about where I was ten years ago. 2009 had been the most difficult year of my life due to my parent’s divorce, so heading into Christmas I was filled with fear and dread. Our traditions were in splinters and I was facing a Christmas without my siblings for the first time. ... Christmas is magical when you are happy and surrounded with the people you love. But if you aren’t it can shine a harsh spotlight in your situation, be it the empty chairs at the table or the cracks in relationships. ... Ten years later a great deal of healing has occurred and I’m heading into Christmas feeling lucky to get to celebrate with both my family and Tom’s. Change isn’t always easy but in the long term the new normal can be just as magical as before ✨ ... NOSE IN A BOOK 📖 As a child I was always reading. At one point I had four bookshelves, all double stacked of course, and every Christmas my list was filled with titles I was desperate to read. I will always remember the first time I read The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe. I instantly fell in love with the characters especially as a child of four (at the time) ... In fact my little sister and I would often climb into wardrobes hoping to discover magical worlds. A decade or so later and I still love immersing myself in far off worlds as I dive headfirst into a book 📖 ... So this year my inner child was delighted to see @ivychelsgarden decorated as the place where it was always winter and never Christmas, completed with its very own ice throne for for a queen 🙌🏼 ... IS IT BEDTIME YET? 😴 After a weekend of celebrating after my results I am as sleepy as this little polar bear. I’m not usually excited to go to bed but today an early night is definitely on the cards! From the @bethsbookclub_ Christmas Party to @hillsonglondon carols at Wembley I had the perfect festive few days filled with merriment but it’s fair to say I’m feeling slightly worse for wear now! ... But first I think another Christmas movie is on the cards after all of your amazing suggestions last week! I ended up watching Klaus in the end and it was so heartwarming 🥰 I highly recommend if you are looking for some festive and family friendly 🙌🏼 ... I ONLY WENT & PASSED 🥳 Guess who is now a QUALIFIED accountant? THIS GAL. After years of exams I can’t quite believe it’s all over 💫 After a gin-filled afternoon of celebrations I yesterday I had a perfect cosy night-in free of the stress that has lurked in my mind for months 🤯 ... It turns out anxiety and exams aren’t natural bedfellows and while I am so proud of myself for overcome my fears and passing all of my 15 exams first time I am overjoyed that I never have to sit an exam again 🙌🏼 ... Thank you to each and every one of you that sent me messages of support throughout a revision filled autumn. DEAR SANTA...DEFINE “NICE” 🎅🏼 I don’t always want to be nice, I know that might sound crazy but please hear me out before putting me on the naughty list! You see I think ALWAYS being “nice” can make you passive, it can mean that you appease people rather than standing up for yourself or what you think is right 😔 ... So this year I haven’t always been “nice”, but I have tried to be fair. I’ve worked hard and I’ve found the confidence to stand up for what I think is right. I’ve always done my best to be kind and support others when they’ve needed it but I’ve fought back or walked away when I needed to protect myself 🙌🏼 ... The thing is Santa I think it’s about time we stopped asking children to just be “nice” & instead helped them focus on being the best version of themselves they can be 🙌🏼 Oh and if you’ve got space on your sleigh I’d really like a puppy 🐶 Merry Christmas to you and the elves, Love Em 🥰 ... (NOT?) FEELING FESTIVE 🥰 This weekend has made me feel truly festive after creating some Christmassy content. The last few weeks have been difficult and it’s been a challenge to stay positive. On Friday night I sat alone crying in Liverpool Street station feeling like there was no-one I could call. I felt like a burden to my family, my partner and my friends after relying on them so heavily during my illness, I couldn’t admit my mind was suffering from the isolation just as much as must as I was struggling physically ... But after two days spent with amazing people I feel renewed, loved and supported. When the world is telling you to feel full of Christmas cheer it can be hard it ask for help, but just remember it’s ok to not be okay 💞 ... P.S. BAD BODY IMAGE DAYS? 🤭 As many of you know this year has seen me go on a major self love journey. I’ve transformed the way I think and feel about my body. However this week with my chronic bowel condition and tonsils wrecking havoc its been hard to love this place that I call home 🤯 ... After days of being stuck in bed struggling to breathe I watched @em_clarkson’s new Ted-Talk worthy IGTV about bad self love days. She talks far more eloquently than I can type so I highly recommend giving it a watch but I’m going to repeat here what I said in the comments after watching. ... We are all multi-dimensional people with faceted personalities and I think being full of self love 100% of the time is unrealistic in a society that so often tries to tear us down. I’m over aiming for perfection. My body isn’t perfect, either in the way it looks or functions, but on average I love it more than I did last month, and understand it endlessly better than I did last year and that’s the progress that matters to me 🙌🏼 https://ift.tt/2OzPW19

HAPPY THANKSGIVING 💫 It’s official Christmas is coming, but before we get consumed by Black Friday deals and frantic shopping for gifts it’s good to take time to be thankful for what we already have ☺️ .... I love the concept of Thanksgiving and it’s a holiday I wish we had here in the UK. So even though I’m stuck in bed in London rather than chowing down on Turkey across the pond I thought I’d share five things I’m thankful for today! DYING IN MY SLEEP? 😳 So yesterday tonsil-gate escalated rather rapidly & led to a very scary evening! Fortunately after fluids & steroids I’m back home and am on doctor’s orders to rest! ... I’m not good at resting. I was brought up to always get up and go to school or work unless you were dying. So I sat at my desk with a fever struggling to breathe because I was too stubborn to admit my health needed to be the priority 🙈 ... I get so anxious about letting people down and I’m useless at asking for help. In the end this situation showed me how lucky I am to have people I can rely on & an incredible NHS 💞 ... Your health can’t be ignored. The scariest moment was when one of the doctors said I had been lucky to wake up that morning 🤯 Dying alone in my sleep at 24 because I didn’t accept I was seriously unwell would have been a tragedy, completely of my own making! ... Moral of the story: PRIORITISE YOUR HEALTH it really is the most important thing of all (and vote to save our NHS, pretty please 🙏🏼) https://ift.tt/2sntnEp

ADDICTED TO CANDLES? 🕯 I’ve got too many candles, said no-one, ever 😏 I decided to treat myself post exams by buying two new candles from one of my favourite brands @nestcandleco 🕯 ... I went for Fireside which is a woody, spicy scent perfect for the colder months and First Snow which smells like Christmas in a jar ❄️ I love Nest because not only do they smell amazing but all of their candles are made locally right here in London 🙌🏼 ...
