"Show yourself. I know you're watching me." Neteyam said as he looked around. He was trying to find you. The forest was denser here compared to the area surrounding his village. As the flowers and plants clung tightly to the thick branches, it became challenging to find anything specific. Even finding a clear path would seem challenging if you didn't know this part of the forest. Neteyam's eyes scanned the area, hoping to catch a glimpse of your familiar posture. Ever since Neteyam arrived, you remained completely still, not moving an inch. You did your best to avoid being spotted by the boy below you.
You watched as his eyes scanned the area, aware you were more likely to hide higher up. His eyes even glanced over your body, completely failing to notice you as he searched higher. You noticed the boy below you looking particular good today. The sunlight streaming over his face and shoulders cast a gentle glow, almost making his skin sparle in the sunlight. You were certain you saw a new bead woven into his hair as he swayed his head to the right. Both of you were growing up rapidly, growing more mature every encounter you had. Both of you noticed that you were coming of age, but this all was still faster than anticipated.
"I can see you!" Neteyam yelled out, unable to locate your familiar posture despite sensing your presence nearby. He couldn't pinpoint your exact location. This frustrated him a bit, as one of the youngest and most skilled hunters in his village, unable to outsmart you. It heightened his desire for you even more. From the day you first met, he considered you a perfect match. However, over the passing years, he observed your exceptional intelligence. A woman who could outsmart him was something he had only dreamt about before.
"How could you see me?" You questioned, maintaining your hidden position. His eyes darted to the general direction of your voice. You managed to suppress your laughter as he still wasn't able to pinpoint your location. You swayed your tail, hoping to make it easier for him to spot you. His eyes trailed along your tail, moving up your body until they reached your face. You stood in the shadows, giving you a mysterious glow, but your face remained partially concealed, not fully visible. You slowly made your way down, so you would need to keep looking down at him.
"I couldn't, but I sensed you." Neteyam stated as you moved out of the shadows, now fully visible. You were tempted to express that it wasn't fair but choose to stay silent instead. Considering the time it took him to find you, with your help, of course. "You know, the Tsahik should be skilled at more than just hiding." Neteyam remarked as you were now standing in front of him. He wanted to see how you reacted on that title, curious about your feelings regarding it.
"Future tsahik." You replied, rolling your eyes in response. "You just don't know the other things I'm capable of." In reality, Neteyam didn't know. Although both of you were Omaticaya, you weren't from the same village. Neteyam was the future Olo'eyktan of his village, and you were the future Tsahik of yours. The only you two had was when both of you had time to come to the forest away from both of your villages. Whenever you were together, both of you were yourselves, setting aside the roles of being the future leaders of your villages.
"And you don't know what I'm capable of." Neteyam said as a grin slowly formed on his face. You recognized that look, and it signaled trouble. As you saw his posture shift into an attack stance, you swiftly turned around and ran away, leaving him behind. However, it wasn't for long, as you could hear him running after you. "I'm going to catch you!" You heard him yell, prompting you to burst out laughing. While Neteyam might have been faster than you, you were more familiar with the dense forest, giving you a slight advantage.
You slowed down after a while, noticing the absence of his footsteps behind you. With slightly heavier breathing, you turned around to look, but Neteyam was nowhere to be seen. His unexpected disappearance confused you, as it had never happened before. Proceeding cautiously, you took a step forward, attempting to decide whether Neteyam had lost track of you or if he was deliberately hiding. Suddenly, you caught a glimpse of Neteyam coming at you from the corner of your eye. Before you could react, he swiftly wrapped his arms around your middle while rushing towards you. The abruptness caused you to lose balance and fall backward, dragging Neteyam with you.
Instead of feeling your back hit the ground, you sensed the rush of air past you—the slope! You had completely forgotten about it. It was concealed behind large leaves, unknown to many, which made it particularly dangerous. You let put a little yell, which caused Neteyam to quickly shift one of his arms around your head to shield you, keeping the other arm wrapped around your middle. It wasn't an enormous slope, but it was sizable enough that landing incorrectly could result in a serious injury. As you both hit the ground, it knocked the breath out of you. Neteyam sat up, releasing his hold on you as he attempted to catch his breath.
"Are you alright?" Neteyam asked, still out of breath, his concern evident as he helped you into a sitting position. You took a deep breath, realizing that although both of you could have been badly injured, the adrenaline rush left you thrilled. It had your heart racing, and you were certain his was racing just as fast. "Nothing broken or bleeding. That's good, right?" You chuckled, trying to alleviate his sense of guilt. He might have assumed it was his fault, but it wasn't since he had never been there before. If anyone were to blame, it would've been you.
"It isn't your fault. I should've been more careful and not gone so close to the slope." You stated, noticing the lingering guilt in his eyes. He nodded as your eyes met, yet Neteyam looked at you questioningly as you gently pushed him back, prompting him to lay down. You settled beside him, pointing upwards. "This view is the best from down here." You smiled, gazing up sunlight streaming through the trees above. Neteyam looked in the direction where you were pointing. As you both lay there, the sunlight danced through the leaves. It casted a warm, golden glow around you, Neteyam's eyes shifted to your face. "It's beautiful." He whispered softly, barely audible to you.
Neteyam took in all the details of your features as he studied you closely. The way your eyes sparkled in the light and the faint smile that was on your lips. "Thank you for coming here with me today." Neteyam finally spoke, breaking the comfortable silence that surrounded you both. "I know we don't get many chances like this." You eyes met as you turned to look at Neteyam. His eyes were gentle as he focused on yours. His hand reached for your arm as he pulled you closer.
"It's always an adventure with you." you replied, your voice carrying a sense of fondness. The connection between you and Neteyam was something special. As future leaders of your respective villages, your lives were destined to take different paths. These moments of serenity were rare and treasured, allowing you both to let go of your responsibilities and simply be yourselves. Neteyam shifted his gaze back to the trees, losing himself in the dance of the leaves above. You glanced at him, appreciating the peaceful expression on his face. The worries and burdens that usually weighed on his shoulders seemed to have faded away, at least for now. It was moments like this that made you both forget about the pressures awaiting you back in your villages.
As the sunlight gradually shifted and the shadows lengthened, signaling the approaching of eclipse, you both reluctantly stood up, deciding it was time to head back. The playful chase and sudden fall were forgotten, replaced by a sense of calmness and understanding between you and Neteyam. Walking back out of the slope, neither of you spoke much. Allowing the weight of your responsibilities to fade into the background for a little longer. Upon reaching the outskirts of the denser forest, you bid Neteyam goodbye, each of you returning to your respective villages, knowing that the peace you found together in the forest would be cherished until your next stolen moment away from responsibilities. Both of you secretly wished that day wouldn't take long to arrive.

Midnight Blue Ⅷ
♤ Featuring: Neteyam x Female Omatikaya Reader
♤ Word count: 1.3k
♢ I'm Evelight_Navi on wattpad, parts will also be uploaded there.
♢♢----------------------♢♢
You had unconsciously walked to your hut. Seeing the emptiness without your parents in it made you shiver. You couldn't remember the last thing you told your parents. It made you feel guilty, like you were a bad daughter. Knowing your mother last thoughts were about you made it a bit less painful. It was painful being here, but it was your home. Memories of the past 6 months here started flooding your head. It made you cry and smile at the same time. You knew they could die in those attacks, but you never thought it would happen to them. Let alone, losing them both on the same day.
You sat down in the center of the hut. You couldn't hold back anymore. Tears started rolling down your face as you sobbed loudly. You pulled your knees to your chest. Hugging your legs, you sreamed as loud as you could. This wasn't fair! You wanted them back. No! You needed them back. You sobbed more as your whole face was now wet. You felt warm arms wrap around you from behind. You didn't question who it was, not care at the moment. You were glad someone was holding you. It only lasted a moment before those arms left. Whoever it was turned you armed and pulled you close to their chest.
They pulled you into a hug, you held on to them tightly. You sobbed louder, finding comfort in their embrace. This person didn't speak as if they knew you just needed someone to hold you. You made a quick mental note to thank them later. You could feel their chest getting wet of all your tears. So you tried to pull away, but they pulled you back closer. "Don't." You heard a familiar voice say. You look up at the person holding you. Through your blurry vision, you could see him. "Just let me hold you, for now." Neteyam pleaded as he looked down at you. You could see he pitied you in this state. You nodded with tears still rolling down your face.
The tension between you two had eased. Despite the difficulty of the situation, it was a necessary step toward healing your relationship. The more you calmed down, the more Neteyam released his grip on you. Neteyam shifted to sit beside you, allowing your head to rest on his shoulder while his arms wrapped you in a comforting embrace. You noticed how his arm was wrapped around your shoulder and not your waist like months before. It made you realize you two had indeed grown further apart than you originally thought. Months ago, that would've been normal, no questions asked. If he did it now, it would feel forced, abnormal even.
There were some many unanswered questions and frustrations, yet you remained quiet. You didn't want to talk about your parents, it would only make you cry again. The urgent conversation you and Neteyam needed was something you weren't looking forward to. It was like Neteyam read your mind, our at least half of it. "We should talk." He started as he glanced down at you. You sighed as you lifted your head from his shoulder, refusing to look at him. "That night was what you thought it was..." You started, closing your eyes for a second. "I took Lo'ak through the secret place. Not to show it to him, but because it was the quickest way back to the village." You tried your best explaining, without making it sound like an excuse.
"I understand. About Inani..." He started, but you cut him off. "You don't need to explain it to me. If you're happy with Inani, that is all thar matters." You uttered, making sure he knew you didn't hold him accountable for being happy with someone else. "No! I do need to explain." He said as he placed his free hand on your cheek. He lightly pulled your face to look at him. Your eyes met his as he removed his hand from your cheek. "I didn't bring Inani to our secret spot." You looked at him confused. He saw you needed a little more than that to understand. "She followed me there. I didn't know until it was too late. She thought I was keeping it a secret for her later." This made you laugh lightly. Inani had gotten stuck up ever since the arrangement was announced. She had thought Neteyam did everything for her, even if she knew otherwise.
Neteyam smiled at your response. He hadn't thought you would find it funny. "I can already imagine her sneakily following you." You chuckled, envisioning the scene in your mind. Neteyam couldn't help but giggle as well. It was a fun scene, after all. Your smile slowly faded as your eyes met once more. "Thank you for being here. And trying to make me feel better." You received a tender smile from Neteyam. "That's what friends are for." He replied. It hurted you both, but it was the truth. You had both agreed on the promise, and both of your weren't trying to break it.
"If you're ready, we should head back." Neteyam announced, trying to see if you were ready. With a nod, you got up. You looked around once more, trying to memorize this place. You wouldn't be coming back after all. Neteyam walked out, waiting on you on the outerside. He knew you needed a second to yourself before leaving. You smiled as you sighed, knowing it was time. Neteyam and you walked towards his hut in silence. The tension between you had vanished after the long awaited talk you just had. You both felt as comfortable around each other as you could.
You walked first into the hut, thinking Neteyam was behind you. Neteyam was stopped by Lo'ak. "We need to talk." Lo'ak said to Neteyam. Neteyam nodded and followed his younger brother. The two of them went to a quiet place. "I saw you holding her, while she was crying." Lo'ak started, seeing what his brother had to say about it. But Neteyam stayed silent, not knowing how much his younger brother knew. "I know about your secret place and the stargazing. I can't help but see how you two look at each other." He continued seeing his brother wasn't going to admit anything.  He knew his brother well enough to know he was going to come up with some excuses to explain everything. "You two like each other, right?" He questioned before Neteyam could say anything.
"We did." Neteyam admitted, knowing excuses weren't going to work now. "You did?" Lo'ak was confused at his brother's words. He had seen you two minutes ago. So he had to be lying, right? "Before the arrangements and bit after. But we agree to stick to the arrangements." Neteyam explain, with pain in his heart. Lo'ak tried to understand, but he couldn't figure out why you agreed on it. You could go against the arrangements but yet you both chose to honor it. It didn't make sense to him. "Do you like her?" Lo'ak snapped back to reality at Neteyam's question. "She is a good friend and we have tried to get closer. And we did grow closer, but not like you two are. I don't like her like you do." Neteyam felt relieved, yet felt bitter about it.
Neteyam was happy that he didn't have his own brother as his competitor. But if you were going to honor the agreement, you wouldn't as loved as he wanted you to be. He didn't want that for you. He wanted you to be loved like he always imagined. He had already accepted the fact that he would never love Inani. But he had never thought you wouldn't truly love his brother, and his brother wouldn't truly love you. This made Neteyam question if the promise between you two was worth it. It made him question all of his decisions he made since he started loving you.

"Secrets in the waves"
♤ Featuring: Aonung x Female Omatikaya Reader
♤ Summary: You came to the Metkayina clan with Neteyam and his family since the two of you were a couple. As months pass Neteyam becomes distant and you find comfort with Aonung. Aonung and you start catching feelings for each other. Realizing you need to have a conversation with Neteyam, things get heated as you discover a secret he kept from you.
♤ Word count: 3.1k
♢ I'm Evelight_Navi on wattpad, this is part of my one shot collection.
♢♢----------------------♢♢
Neteyam had seemed distance, like he was lost in his thoughts. It wasn't like him, but lately it was. Neteyam had avoided you as much as he could without making it too obvious. You had noticed but chose to remain quiet. It was a stressful time for everyone. You didn't want to make it worse. "Whats on your mind?" You questioned him as you sat next to him. There was no way to avoid you since you were in your pod. Neteyam turned to look at you without saying a thing. You looked him in his eyes, searching for the familiar shine his eyes once held. It had been a while since you last saw it. The shine still didn't reappear. "You can tell me. I'm your girlfriend, after all." You said before he looked away from you. You watched Neteyam as he got up. He was giving you the silent treatment again.
Frustrated with his behavior, you stood up abruptly and fetched your bow. Your sudden movements grabbed Neteyam's attention. Neteyam watched you from behind with a puzzled look as you swung your bow around your body. Grabbing your quiver, you heard Neteyam ask. "Where are you going?" Neteyam caught your interest as he spoke unexpectedly. You pauzed briefly as you looked up. "Aonung and I have another hunting lesson today." You replied while counting the arrows in your quiver. Neteyam let out a small chuckle, making you turn to face him. "It's been weeks. Why hasn't he learned yet?" Neteyam sighed. It wasn't a question, and you knew it. Rather, it was an insult towards Aonung.
He wasn't in a place to judge Aonung, not about the lessons, at least. You wanted to make that very clear. "We needed many breath lessons too. Before we could swim properly underwater." You stated. You could see that Neteyam wasn't amused by your answer. He remained quiet once again. You knew that whatever made him give you the silent treatment today wasn't about your lessons with Aonung. If it was, he wouldn't have asked where you were going.
As Neteyam remained silent, you started walking out. You were in the opening of the pod when he spoke again. "Y/n..." Neteyam spoke quietly. You stopped and turned around to look at him. "Yes." You answered, waiting for a response. He wanted to say something but seemed hesitant about it. Neteyam looked into your eyes, and you looked into his. He shook his head before waving you away. "It's nothing. You go on now." He said as he looked away. Your eyes dropped to the floor as you sighed. You turned back around, walking away from the hut towards the place you and Aonung had agreed on.
They place you had argeed on was east of the village, with some rocks alongside the beach. As you arrived, you saw Aonung with his arms crossed, leaning against one of the rocks. He was staring at the sea in front of him. Aonung was early, which was unusual for him. He uncrossed his arms and stood up straight as he noticed you walking up to him. Aonung tilted his head slightly to the right as he studied your movements closely. He sensed you were a bit tense by the way you walked. Aonung approached you, leaving the rocks behind him. One word, rather one name, that was all he needed to know to understand you. "Neteyam?" He asked as he stood in front of you. You nodded as you slightly looked down.
During your lessons, you two had become close. Close enough that you had confided in him about was happening with Neteyam. Aonung had also confided in you about the pressure he felt as the village had high expectations of him. He had told you he liked the lessons with you. Because at least he could be honest and relaxed with you. You didn'thave any expectations from him, so he could be himself around you. At the village, both of you didn't have much time together, except if it was the whole group together. You occasionally glanced at each other or had some small interaction, but that was all. So this was a little getaway you both got together.
You would never admit it, but you had gotten feelings for Aonung. Neteyam had pushed you away for the past few months. Aonung had comforted you, and that's how it started. You felt guilty that you got feelings for him. If only Neteyam knew... He probably wouldn't care, not right now, at least. He would've been furious if that would've happened back at the omaticaya clan. He had changed so much towards you. You knew there was something else going as well, but you weren't sure.
Aonung sat down, crossing his legs with his front facing the water. He tugged at your hand, signaling for you to sit next to him. With a nod, you remove your bow and quiver, placing them next to you. You sat down next to him, crossing your legs as well. "Let's do some breathing exercises." Aonung stated as he looked at you. He knew it calmed you down. You closed your eyes because it made the exercise easier. "Breathe in." Aonung said before inhaling deeply. You did the same, trying to stay in the same rhythm as him. "And breathe out." You both exhaled at the same time.
Aonung looked at you as he noticed you weren't relaxing. You tried to stay in the same rhythm as Aonung but kept losing it. Placing one hand on your stomach and the other on your chest, he startled you with his touch. You opened your eyes and glanced at him, surprised. His eyes briefly met yours before he shifted his gaze to his hands on your body. "Breathe in deeper. " Aonung said as he slightly put more pressure on your stomach. You took a deep breath like he told you as you still looked at his face. "Now hold it until you feel like exhaling." He continued as he could feel your heartbeat. You closed your eyes as you held your breath. You felt your body relax as you exhaled, almost as if all your worries had vanished. Aonung smiled gently, noticing your heartbeat gradually slowing down. You were greeted with that gentle smile as you opened your eyes. His eyes met yours once again before he removed his hands from your body.
You walked side by side to the little forest the island offered. Aonung had mastered shooting statuary targets but not the moving ones. He would lose his posture while aiming at the moving targets. You gave Aonung your bow and quiver before standing back. Aonung got in position and shot every statuary target. He had done this a thousand times already, but you still gave him a smile as he retrieved your arrows. He had to feel confident, or this would never work. You looked at him as he took his position once again. He briefly glanced at you before focusing at the target. He aimed at the target, and he held his posture, which got you confident he would get it.
As he followed his target with your bow, you saw his posture shift. He released the arrow and missed the target yet again. You sighed silently before walking towards him. "Aiming for fish is way easier. " He joked as you stood in front of him. "I don't agree. Fish are way harder." Aonung chuckled at your response. You tapped Aonung's chest as you raised the arm in which he was holding the bow. He immediately understood what you meant. He drew his bow as he got in his position. "Your aim is good, but you need to keep your posture as you shoot." You said, pushing against him to make his posture more stable. "Now aim while breathing in." You said as you were content with his posture. You got close to his face to see which moving target he was aiming for.
Aonung could feel his heart skip a beat as he noticed how close you were to him. "Focuse!" You said as you pushed against his stomach. Aonung chuckled before looking back at the target. "Release while you exhale." You advised, lightly guiding his leg back to its previous position with your own leg. Aonung deeply inhaled as he aimed for the target once more. You had taken a small step back to avoid getting injured. He exhaled as he released the arrow. His eyes widened in suprise as he hit the edge of the target. You can't help but smile as you see how happy Aonung is. "Again." You knew his confidence was boosted at the moment, so it was the perfect time to try again.
Aonung quickly grabbed another arrow. His eyes briefly met yours, both your eyes reflected happiness and a sense of pride. He took a deep breath as he aimed for another moving target. Your eyes followed his to the target in question. He exhaled again as he released the arrow. Aonung hit the target perfectly in the middle. He dropped the bow as he turned his attention to you. "I did it!" He exclaimed happily. "You did it." You matched his enthusiastic energy. Aonung stepped towards you, wrapping his arms around your waist. He lifted you up and twirled you in a circle. It made you giggle. He had never shown this happiness before.
Aonung stopped twirling in a circle, but he was still holding you up in the air. You were now taller than him, so you had to look down to gaze into his eyes. Aonung returned your gaze, looking into your eyes as you had done with his. You briefly glanced at his lips before shifting back to his eyes. Aonung noticed and dropped you a bit, so you were now face to face with him, feet still dangling in the air. "Look what you have started." He murmured softly as he also quickly glanced at your lips. You felt his breath on your lips as he closed the distance between you two. He kissed you, and you kissed back, closing your eyes, enjoying the moment.
You could feel the ground under your feet as Aonung put you down. Both of you remained silent, gazing into each other's eyes. That's when you remembered Neteyam. Your ears pinned back, and your eyes widened in realization. Stepping back from Aonung, you suddenly felt a surge of panic and guilt. You and Neteyam were together, not you and Aonung. Aonung sensed your distress and the weight of your guilt. He took as step forward, placing his hand on your shoulder. Your eyes met yet again, but this time, Aonung saw only guilt in them. "I-I.." You stuttered, not finding your words. Aonung wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a hug. "You feel the same as I feel for you, don't you?" He murmured softly into your ear. You just nodded before hugging him back.
"Do you still love Neteyam?" He asked as he pulled back and looked into your eyes. You met his eyes but didn't say anything. Aonung searched for an answer but couldn't find one. Aonung dropped his arms as you remained silent. He was disappointed, but he understood. That didn't take away that this was breaking him. He turned his back towards you as he grabbed all the arrows before putting them into your quiver. You stood still looking at his every movement. "We should go back." He started as he grabbed your bow. "It's for the better if this is our last lesson. I learned everything you have to teach." He finished as he started walking back in the direction of the village.
"No." You uttered as you watched him walk away. He pauzed at your voice, turning around to face you. "No?" He questioned, a bit perplexed. "No. I don't love him anymore." You finished as you walked towards Aonung. "I love you." Aonung wrapped his arms around you with the bow still in his hands. He was glad you wanted him like he wanted you. You could feel his heart through your chest. It had a fast pace, and you were sure yours was as well. "If you don't love him anymore. You could break up with him." Aonung stated, silently waiting on a response. "Neteyam and I need to talk. There is still a lot of stuff that bothers me about his recent behavior." You responded. Aonung expected another response, but he was happy with the one he got.
"Everyone will be watching us if they know." You said as you pulled away a little. He knew what you meant. Aonung could relax around you here. If the clan knew, that would all change. Their judgment and expectations would put a lot of pressure on the both of you. "So let's keep this secret." He replied with a grin on his face. You rolled your eyes at him. "It would be scandalous if they found out like this." You said, trying not to laugh. He grabbed your hand as he started walking towards the village. "Then don't let them see it." He started as squeezed your hand lightly. "That is the most fun, after all." You laughed at his response.
You and Aonung had aparted ways as you neared the village. You walked straight to your pod, hoping to find Neteyam there. Once you entered the pod, Neteyam's whole family was there. "Y/n!" Tuk yelled as she ran towards you. She hugged your leg, and you patted her head. "Hey, Tuk." You said before looking around for Neteyam. He wasn't there and maybe it was a good thing. Since you didn't want the conversation with his family around. "How was your lesson with Aonung?" Jake asked while offering you some food. You felt your body stiffen at his question. You politely expected it and sat down. "He is making progress." You casually said, trying to avoid the subject.
It was getting dark, and Neteyam still hadn't returned home. So you opted to go look for him. It didn't take long to find him. He was standing waist deep in the water feeding an ilu. You walked up to him from behind. He hadn't noticed you yet. "She stopped loving me." He said, making you stop in your tracks. Was he talking to the ilu? "It's probably for the best. Then we are both free of each other." He continued. Had he felt trapped in your relationship? How could he not have told you? Even if you didn't live him anymore, it still hurt to hear it. You didn't feel like talking to him anymore, at least not today.
You turned around and started to walk away. You were barely out of the water when you heard him. "Y/n?" Neteyam called your name. You stood still, not wanting to turn around. "How much did you hear?" You could hear him coming closer. "Enough." Neteyam heard the coldness in your voice. He was concerned since you had never been cold to him. "I came to get you." You cut him off as he was about to say something. You started to walk away again, hoping he wouldn't follow you. Even if you knew you both had to get back home. You heard fast movements in the water behind you. Turned around, you saw Neteyam standing in front of you.
"I know you came here for a different reason." He stated as he looked into your eyes. You sighed, knowing the conversation had to happen. You were about to speak, but this time, Neteyam cut you off. "I saw him kissing you." Neteyam inched closer to you. "Can you tell me, honestly, how many times?" You shook your head. "It was the first time." You answered as you looked around, not wanting to believe he was actually accusing you of something you didn't do. You saw Aonung standing in the distance. You could tell he looked worried. "I don't believe you! You had so many lessons together. The bow and arrow are easy to learn and master. You two couldn't just be doing the lessons all this time!" He snapped at you, which grabbed your attention.
"What were you even doing there?" You questioned him, knowing he had gotten some assignments. You saw something change in his eyes. He was hiding something, and seeing his face, he didn't want to talk about it. Neteyam remained silent, searching for an answer he could give you. You studied Neteyam body searching for an answer yourself. That when you saw it, the bracelet. "Izza..." You uttered, looking back at his face. "Who?" Neteyam met your eyes, not wanting to give in. He thought denying it would be easier. "You talk about being unhonest. But how long has this been going on?" You stated as you grabbed his wrist, holding it up between you two. He looked at the bracelet he was wearing before pulling his wrist back.
"Is she the reason you have been avoiding and ignoring me? Is she the reason you vanish and nobody is able to find you?" Neteyam looked down at your questions. He remained silent, knowing he was the one that was being unhonest. "A few months." He muttered under his breath. You shook your head frustrated as you took a couple of steps back. "I should've known. " You uttered, wanting to leave. "I was going to tell you, I-I couldn'tbreak your heart!" Neteyam tried to explain. "I came here out of love! My love for you! And I was just as easily replaced." You started slowly walking backward. "You pushed me away from you. Into the arms of another. And you dare to blame me?" You finished as you looked at Aonung, who had gotten closer. He looked at you pleading. You both didn't want to stay in this relationship. He was looking for forgiveness. "We are done." You stated before walking away. Leaving him behind as you walked towards Aonung.
He wrapped his arm around your shoulder as you both walked away. He held you close, like he would lose you every second now. He had heard you tell Neteyam, you came here for the love you had for Neteyam. But was he enough for you to stay? Aonung was afraid he wouldn't be enough. The both of you sat down by the rocks east of the village. "I don't love him anymore. But it still hurts." You said as you placed your head on his shoulder. "I'm here if you need me." Aonung replied, placing a small kiss on your head. You hummed at his response before looking at the water. Aonung also looked at the water. The both of you fell asleep as it grew darker. Finally, finding some peace together.

♢ As requested here is part 2 of Turbulent Waters.
♢♢----------------------♢♢
Once the Akula had passed, you got out of the coral. Aonung noticed your difficulty in holding your breath and swiftly took your hand. He pulled you along with him. As a metkayina, his body was more adepted for the water. You gasped for air as you resurfaced. "Are you alright?" He asked, concerned. You nodded as you tried to catch your breath. Aonung placed his hand on your stomach, trying to feel your breath and heartbeat. He stared at you, patiently waiting for your breathing to slow. You looked at Aonung, seeing the calmness and also the worry in his eyes. His composed posture had a calming effect on you, which slowed your breath. However, his hand on your stomach raised your heartbeat. "We need to do more breathing exercises." He laughed as he felt your breath slowing. He let go as he felt your heart beat faster. You laughed at his comment.
Aonung called his ilu. You were about to call your ilu, but he stopped you. "She might be badly injured. If so, she will already be at the village. No need to call her, you can ride with me." He stated as he got on his ilu. With a nod, you got on his ilu behind him. You held onto his shoulder for support as he placed his free hand firmly on your thigh. He turned his head to see if you were ready to go. You nodded at him, signifying that you were ready to leave. Aonung took off, but his ilu felt slower than yours. Unbeknownst to you, Aonung did this on purpose. You didn't feel comfortable in the position you were in. You felt unstable, like you could fall off any second now. Aonung sensed your grip on his shoulder tightening. He gently squeezed your thigh in return. Aonung pulled your thigh closer to his, bringing your chest against his back. You let go of his shoulder as you wrapped your arm around his waist.
You could feel his heartbeat against your chest. In fact, Aonung could also feel yours through his back. He felt your rapid heartbeat slow to a steady and strong one. You felt comfortable and stable. Aonung couldn't help but smile as he understood how you felt. Both of you cherished this moment. There was an unspoken understanding that you were sharing a genuine and vulnerable connection, something entirely new for both you and Aonung. The ride back remained silent, but both your body language said enough. You both understood how you felt. In the short time you had gotten to know each other, you had grown remarkably close.
You had gotten off the ilu before Aonung did. Aonung petted his ilu on his head. "We should go check in on your ilu." He said, still petting his ilu as he looked at you. You nodded in agreement as you to his ilu's saddle off. You put the saddle in it rightful place as Aonung joined you. You noticed Lo'ak hurrying towards you, followed by Neteyam. Lo'ak confronted Aonung by delivering an unexpected punch to his face. This caused Aonung to stumble backward, it caught him off guard. You were about to intervene when Neteyam swiftly grabbed both your shoulders, diverting your attention.
"Are you injured?" He asked as he started looking all over your body. "No I..." You started as you tried to look at Lo'ak and Aonung. Aonung  pushed Lo'ak back, trying not to fight your twin. "Did HE hurt you?" Neteyam cut you off as he also looked at Aonung. You looked up at Neteyam, seeing the anger in his eyes. You pushed your brother off you. "No, he didn't!" You stated sternly. Neteyam looked confused and concerned at the same time. Hastily, you approached your twin. "Don't you ever hurt my sister again!" Lo'ak shouted angrily as you grabbed his arm, preventing him from punching Aonung once more. You could see that Aonung was trying not to fight Lo'ak since he had clenched his fists.
Lo'ak turned around angrily as he thought you were one of Aonungs friends that would have come to protect him. His expression softens as he sees you. "Are you..." Lo'ak started, but he stopped as you walked past him and towards Aonung. Now, both of your brothers were confused by your actions. "Does it hurt?" You asked Aonung as you gently placed your hand to his cheek, which was already turning a shade of purple. Aonung looked down at you with a little smile. "I'm okay." He responded quietly before looking at your brothers behind you.
You noticed him looking at your brothers before you turned to face them. "To answer your questions. " You started looking both boys in the eyes as you stood in front of Aonung.  Not that he needed protection. You just wanted to help him like he helped you today. "No, he didn't hurt me. In fact, he saved me today." You finished, waiting on the next questions they would throw at you. "Your ilu came back badly injured." Neteyam started calmly but was cut off by Lo'ak. "When we couldn't find you when your ilu arrived, we were worried. Kiri told us she last saw you with him. But he was also nowhere to be found..." He trailed off as he looked at Aonung.
"You thought I had hurt her?" You could feel Aonung tense up as he stood next to you. Lo'ak nodded slowly as he saw how close Aonung had stood next to you. "He saved you?" Neteyam questioned you. "Yes, we encountered an akula." Both you brothers were shocked at your answer. "You took her outside the reef!" Lo'ak stated angrily as he stepped closer to come face to face with Aonung. Again, he clenched his fist to not hit your twin. You placed your hand on Lo'aks chest. "You are protecting this, skxawng?" Neteyam placed a hand on Lo'aks shoulder to calm him down. Lo'ak turned around and pushed Neteyams hand off before angrily walking off.
"I don't know what happened. Let alone what is going on between you two." He spoke calmly, understanding that whatever had happened had brought you both closer. At the sound of his words, both you and Aonung exchanged glances, acknowledging the bond that had formed. "However, this turns out. Lo'ak will come around. He just needs time to process everything." Neteyam finished before walking off in search of his younger brother. You noticed Aonungs cheek turned a deep purple. He saw you looking at his bruise. He placed his hand on his cheek as he gave you an awkward smile. "Let's get you some medicine." You said as you grabbed his hand before you left.
"Your brother throws a good punch." Aonung chuckled awkwardly, causing you to giggle slightly. Especially considering Aonung now had a black eye and a bruise on his cheek from your twin's punch. "But next time, I'm throwing some punches back."

Midnight Blue Ⅶ

♢♢----------------------♢♢
Lately, the familiarity of the sun streaming through the mountain's crevices had transformed into a comforting warmth. It was something you missed since hiding in the Hallelujah mountains. The night the sky people came down, a big part of the forest had burned. All of you were no longer safe, so it was decided to take refuge in the mountains. It did help that the mountains interfered with the human radars. That and also the wildlife that would attack the helicopters, or the Samsons as Jake said.
Six months had passed since the human's arrival, yet the unspoken argument between Neteyam and you had lingered. It created an unsettling mood whenever you two were around each other. Your once close bond had turned into distance and silence one. Neither of you were ready to face the conflict. Afraid the other one had found happiness elsewhere, even though the promise of not falling in love was in the background. How could either of you bring someone else to your secret spot together. You both felt betrayed in a way that you didn't think you would.
All of you sat in some sort of a circle talking. You were seated between Lo'ak and Kiri. Tuk was in front of Kiri as she was braiding Tuks hair. Next to Kiri was Neteyam, who was sitting next to Spider. Meaning Spider was in between the two brothers. "What will they bring back this time?" Tuk questioned. "Guns, ammo, supplies. Anything that can be useful, like always." Lo'ak answered. You knew Tuk wasn't asking about any of that stuff. She was too young to understand any of those things. She wanted to know if one of your parents would bring some of the minerals, the humans mined, back. Both of your parents went to one of the human mines. They were going to fight the humans to make sure they couldn't use the mine. This wasn't the first time they left to fight the humans, and it wouldn't be the last either.
"No, Tuk. They won't bring any minerals back." Neteyam stated. It was like he had read you thought as you were about to say the same thing. You glanced at Neteyam for a quick second. He was concentrated on Tuk. "Not even a shiny rock?" Tuk asked. She was looking at Neteyam, who didn't respond to her question. She looked around the group, hoping someone would give her the answer she was hoping for. Kiri had finished Tuks braid, meaning she also got Tuks pleading eyes on her. "They won't bring a shiny rock." You spoke up, which resulted in a sad Tuk. "But if you want you could make me a new hairbead. I'm in need of a new one anyway." Tuk jumped up in excitement with a huge smile. She ran away, yelling she needed to find the perfect material. Not only did this result in a smile from Tuk, but it also brought smiles to everyone around.
Out of the corner of your eye, you caught Neteyam gazing at you with a tender smile. "What is she going to get this time?" Kiri said, still smiling. Spider nodded before answering her. Lo'ak rested his hand on your back. He gave you an approving smile as you turned towards him. "You're so great with her." He said silently as to not interrupt the others. Neteyam couldn't hear what Lo'ak had said to you. But the way you smiled at his brother made him jealous. Only he didn't want to admit this, it would break the promise. All four of you looked questionable at Neteyam. He had gotten up and was about to excuse himself for leaving. "They are here! The warparty is back!" Tuk yelled as she ran towards the group. She grabbed Neteyam's hand and pulled him along. "You have a great intuition, bro." Spider said as the rest of you got up.
As the six of you arrived, the sully kids had run off to their parents. Leaving Spider and you behind as they disappeared into the crowd. You looked around, searching for your parents. Spider helped you look, but due to his smaller height, he wasn't much help. You walked in front of Spider as you two made your way through the crowd. You saw Neytiri with Tuk and decided to walk to her. Her smile dropped as she saw you walking towards her. She had gotten very serious in a second. Neytiri tapped Jake on the shoulder, who was surrounded by the other three, then glanced back at you. Jake briefly looked your way before looking back at his mate. With a nod,he approached you while Neytiri guided their children elsewhere before joining him. You felt your stomach drop at the sight.
Spider almost bumped into you by your sudden stop. He saw your ears pin back as you slowly shook your head. He walked next to you to see what was going on in front of you. He saw the sully kids confused as they walked away. While their parents, on the other hand, walked straight towards you two. You grabbed Spider's hand as a reflex. Spider looked at your hand before looking back up at you. You too, were now looking at Spider. "D-Don't let go, please." You felt your voice crack. You didn't want to believe what you were thinking. Even if it was the case, you didn't want to be alone.
"Spider, please leave. We need to talk to Y/n alone." Jake stated as they had taken you to their hut. Spider had not let go of your hand, just like you requested. But he could see that the longer he refused to leave, the worse you were feeling. Spider let go of your hand. Your eyes looked at him, pleading not to leave you alone in this situation. Even if you both knew it was for the best. Spider was greeted by Lo'ak, who pulled him with him the second he was out of sight. He had pulled him to the back of the hut, where the others were sitting. All of them listened to what was being said in the hut while staying out of sight.
"Maybe you already guessed what we are about to tell you." Neytiri began while she walked closer. Overwhelmed, you nodded, unable to speak. "Your parents didn't make it..." Your head dropped, those words Jake spoke were hard to swallow. You had a feeling eversince you saw Neytiri smile drop. But those words made it a reality you didn't want. "N-no, it can't be." You raised you breaking voice a bit. You felt like your knees were going to give in. Jake told you your father had gotten hit by one of the explosives. Your mother screamed as she ran towards him. The mine collapsed, trapping your mother under the debris. "She entrusted me with to take care of you." Neytiri said, resting her hands on your shoulders. "Her final words and thoughts were for you." You slowly pushed her off as she finished.
"I need some time alone." You whisper, almost too softly to be heard. Jake and Neytiri looked at each other. It was like they were reading each others minds. "We understand. You're free to go." Jake began, casting an understanding glance in your direction. "Just come back when you are ready." Neytiri finished before joining Jake by his side. With a nod, you walked out the hut feeling defeated.

Part 2
♢♢----------------------♢♢
Ever since you came to the Metkayina clan with your parents, you had been silent most of the time. The metkayina people thought you were shy. It was exactly quiet the opposite. You were a closed book and would rather watch what people were like before getting closer to them. You did this to see if those people were worth your time and affection. The omaticaya clan had known this about you and it wasn't such a big deal over there. You had seen that Tsireya was a good hearted person, so you two had become very close. Her brother, on the other hand, you didn't know much about. The only thing you did know was that he had been mean if not bullying Kiri and Lo'ak. In his words, they were 'freaks'.
You had sat beside Kiri, who had her feet in the water. You knew she missed Spider and maybe the forest too. At least they didn't call her names over there. Kiri placed her head on your shoulder, you two needed no words to understand each other. You patted her back. "I wish I was normal." Kiri sighed. You nodded, understanding what she meant. You weren't completely normal too. Lo'ak and you were twins, which was rather unusual if not rare.
"Y/n, who is she?" Aonung asked as he looked at you next to Kiri. He knew you were one of the sully kids but had never spoken when he was around. He had heard your name from one of your siblings, he couldn't recall which one. "That's Lo'aks twin sister or so I have heard." Rotxo said as he recalled the conversation with Neteyam. "Interesting." Aonung responded. "Don't even think about it!" Tsireya said as she had shown up unannounced. She had scarred the both of them just a little. "Don't scare us like that, lil sis." This made Tsireya roll with her eyes.
"She is wonderful. But she is a closed book that doesn't share much. Hard to get if I dare say so. She had a reputation in the forest." Tsireya shared with her brother and his friend. Aonung grinned as he heard that. You had peeked Aonungs interest and he wanted to get closer to you. "No worry, sister. I'm just thinking about it." Tsireya shook her head. It was never something good as her brother got something on his mind. Kiri and you had gotten up in the meantime. Aonung walked away from his sister, Rotxo following his trail. As the two of them came face to face with the two of you, Rotxo had gotten Aonung hint. He had started talking to Kiri and leading her away.
"Hey, Y/n." Aonung said as he stood in front of you. You crossed your arms as you studied him, trying to figure out what he wanted. There was a long moment of silence as you two just looked at each other. "Don't I get a hey or even a hello?" He questioned as he noticed you stood confident in front of him. You look him up and down once more before speaking. "Bye, Aonung. " You sighed as you uncrossed your arms and walked past him. You didn't like people coming to you with unclear intentions. "She talks!" Aonung laughed as he walked next to you. You gave him a side eye, not wanting to turn your head towards him. But Aonung laughing kind of caught you of guard. You had never seen him smile, let alone laugh. At least not a real one, that is.
"You don't talk much, do you?" He questioned, still walking by your side. You now turned to face him. He stopped walking as well and looked at you questionable. "Well, seeing that black eye." You pointed at his black eye. You know he had gotten into a fight with both of your brothers. "Maybe you should talk less." You stated before walking away again. Aonung had stood there perplexed at your words. Tsireya had warned him, and now he could see why. He caught up to you and pulled you back by your arm. You looked slightly annoyed as you turned around.
"You don't know me enough to judge me." He stated looking directly into your eyes. You weren't faced with this. "No, I don't! And I don't think I want to." You said as you yanked your arm out of his grip. You stood your ground ready to throw punches if needed to. Aonung shook his head. "I think you do. Otherwise, you would've ignored me, but you didn't." He wasn't wrong! You did want to know what everyone around was capable of. "Let me show you who I am." It sounded more like a question than anything else. From this small interaction, you could already tell that he was persistent. However, this could make your day more interesting. You sighed as you nodded.
Aonung had grabbed his speargun before the two of you got on your ilu's. You were riding your ilu behind Aonung, following him closely. You noticed he was leading you to the edge of the reef. It caught your attention as it confused you. "Where are we going?" You questioned, making him turn his head to look towards you. "I'm taking you hunting." You rolled your eyes at his answer. Aonung turned back around, thinking you were satisfied with his answer. "Really? I didn't notice that!" Aonung slowed his ilu. You were now beside him. He gave you an unamused look and you gave him a cold one back. "We are going hunting outside the reef." He sighed.
Your jaw dropped a bit as your ears slightly pinned back. Aonung let out a quick laugh as he saw your some what shocked expression. You quickly composed yourself before giving him a judgmental look. "We are not supposed to go outside the reef." You spoke as Aonung rode off. He quickly glanced at you. "That's where we are going if you wanna get to know me." He shouted, seeing you still hadn't moved. You sighed as you shook your head. "You were the one that wanted me to get to know you." You whispered under your breath before following him outside the reef.
Aonung had stopped and gotten of his ilu. You did the same before following him underwater. Aonung took you to some coral. He showed you how to call the fish before shooting one. It looked so easy when he did it. So when he gave you his speargun, you looked so confident you could do it too. You kept calling for the fish, but none came. You looked at Aonung for help. "Keep calling them." he signed. You did as he told you, but still nothing changed. You began to get frustrated, so you turned to Aonung once again. You look around panicked as you don't see him anymore.
You quickly swim up looking for Aonung, still holding his speargun. Everyone had told you to stay inside the reef because outside, it was very dangerous. You didn't want to find out how dangerous, especially now that you were alone. You gasped for air as you resurfaced. You search as far as you could see for Aonung. But he was nowhere to be found. You felt all alone the more you looked around. You shook your head slightly as you looked down. You should have never trusted Aonung. 'What was I thinking?' You questioned yourself. You were about to call your ilu when you felt a hand on your shoulder. You quickly turned around, seeing Aonung in front of you.
"Where were you?!" You shouted as you threw his speargun at him. Aonung quickly caught it as it hit his chest. Aonung looked shocked and worried at the same time. "I was getting bait." Aonung answered. You looked down to his other hand, which was filled with bait. It made you regret throwing the speargun at him. That still didn't take away that he could have given you a heads up. "Did you think I left you?" Aonung questioned you. You stayed silent as you didn't dare to look him in the eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to feel like this." Aonung stated as he searched for your eyes. "I think we should go back." You said before calling your ilu. Right as you were about to get on, Aonung pulled you back.
"What are you..." You started, but Aonung sushed you. "Akula!" He whispered. "Go! Go!" He shouted at the ilu. Which made the ilu take off. Aonung grabbed your hand and pulled you underwater with him. He kept pulling you deeper into a more secure area. You heard your ilu screech in pain. Aonung pushed you into the twisted corals before following close behind. "Keep going!" He signed. You nodded before swimming deeper into the coral. Until you reached a bigger spot where the two of you could fit. You waited on Aonung, who was quickly by your side. "What is an akula?" You signed as you look to the creature through the openings in the coral. "A vicious beast that attacks on sight." He signed back also watching the creature.
You felt your body shiver. It was colder the deeper you went in the water. Not only the cold made you shiver. It was also the thought of that creature finding you. You were deeper than you had been before. The thought about the lack of oxygen made you nervous. You couldn't quickly swim up if you needed to or if something were to happen. Aonung had noticed this. He wrapped his arm around your waist to try and keep you steady. You didn't think you would feel comfortable about it, but you did. It even made you feel protected as much as possible in this situation. Aonung let go of your waist. This made you look at him. "Just a while longer." He signed before placing his hand around your waist again. You place your head on his shoulder. You had to wait this out. Somehow, you hope it would take longer so you could just stay here with him like this for a bit longer.

Part 7
♢♢----------------------♢♢
"So, when were you going to tell me that the person that wasn't meant to be is Neteyam?" Spider asked as you two walked to his home. It had been a while since you two had some alone time again. Spider had tried to keep quiet about the secret you kept hidden. He couldn't hold it in anymore. He needed to be sure he was right about this. You looked at him surprised. How did he find out? And if he did, who else did? He nudged you as he laughed at your facialy expression. "Did you really think I wouldn't find out? You should see your face!" He laughed louder. You could feel your cheeks heating up. "W-who else knows?" You struggled to get out. "Relax, I didn't tell anyone. And as far as I know, nobody else knows." He said, trying to calm you.
This made you exhale. You didn't know you were holding your breath. "You know, I didn't tell Neteyam I liked him. But I think he might have a feeling, though." You explained as you looked at Spider. "Now that you say that. Does this have something to do with you being almost punished and Neteyam being exhausted the other day?" You answer Spider's questions with a nod. "We met accidentally in the forest the night before. We stayed there talking most of the time, until..." You started trail off as you thought back to that night. Neteyam had told you he saw you. It was perfect, and you wanted to say it back. You never did because of the arrangements. "Come on, don't leave out the juicy stuff!" Spider said, which made you snap back to reality.
"Some things were said that should've been kept quiet. It will only make things harder." You tried leaving the 'I see you' part out of it. Spider knew you weren't telling all the details, but he was okay with it for now. "The difficulty situation has now become a mess." He silenty said.  "I can't disappoint my family or my clan. But these feelings are hard to ignore all of the time." You said as the two of you stopped at the edge of the forest. Spider hugged you, and you hugged him back. "If I could help, I would in a heartbeat." He said before letting go. "I know. Thank you for being my friend. I couldn't picture my life without you." You thanked him as he walked out of the forest backward so he could still face you. "The feeling is mutual, Y/n." He turned around as he headed home.
By the time you arrived at the clan, it was time for you to meet with Lo'ak. He had asked to visit the high tree together. Lo'ak knew you loved the view and wouldn't be able to say no. You took your shortcut to get to the high tree. You stopped halway in your shortcut, remembering you would've got to go through your secret place. You walked a bit closer before deciding to go around it. Not long after, you were stopped as a familiar voice called your name. You turned around to see Neteyam. "Yn, can we talk?" He questioned as he walked closer. You looked behind you before you sighed. "I won't make it long." He stated as he noticed you were going somewhere.
You crossed your arms, trying to make yourself look more confident. "Go on." You said as Neteyam stopped in front of you. "I know what I said the last time we spoke. Maybe it's for the best we forgot about it." You could hear the hesitation in his voice. Your crossed arms lowered slightly, not fully uncrossing. "I'm not sure how you feel about us, but..." Neteyam stopped as he looked into your eyes. He still wanted to figure out if you liked him or not. "You were right. We shouldn't get to close since our arrangements are made." He started as he couldn't figure out how you were feeling about the two of you.
"You mean you don't want us falling in love?" You questioned, not wanting to believe what Neteyam had meant. He wanted to make you feel better, but there was no way to do so. "You agree?" He questioned. You looked at him perplexed. Was he suggesting we shut our feelings and emotions off? Your arms dropped to your side. "I take that as a yes? So it is decided." Neteyam stated still studying you. You were silent for a moment. "Yeah, I guess it is." You said as your eyes flickered between Neteyam and the ground. There it was! Neteyam eyes a gotten brighter at the litlle hint your body gave him. It had given him a last sprickle of hope. But before he could say anything, you spoke up. "I should go." You said before turning around and walking away. Neteyam watched you walk away. Ever though he had gotten the hint, there was nothing left to be said. After all, his was for the better.
You had replayed everything that had happened. You were trying to see if you could've said anything to make it more barely. You had tried staying out of his way. But you never meant for it to go this far. Neteyam had decided this for the both of you. You knew you were the one who had said you couldn't grow too close. But this... this was something you never expected to happen. You wanted to grow closer to him, and you knew he wanted that too. Both of you had responsibilities that you couldn't just throw to the side.
You looked up at the high tree as you arrived. Your shortcut had taken long because you walked around your secret place. It's not like it would've mattered since you came across Neteyam. You started climbing the tree. Knowing Lo'ak, you knew he was already up there. You had drowned your feelings out as you reached the last branch. Lo'ak helped you get upon it once again. He smiled at you as you both sat down on the edge. You felt relieved as you watched over the forest.
Lo'ak placed his fingers under your chin. "We should look up at a bit more." He said as he slowly pushed your chin more up. This made you look at the stars. It made you smile instantly. Lo'ak removed his fingers from your chin. "We can watch the stars, just like I told your father." He stated as he also looked up at the stars. Lo'ak felt comfortable and happy. He didn't like you like that, but at least he could make you smile. You two had grown closer over time, so maybe this could work out in the long run. You had been occupied, thinking about Neteyam and what he had said. But Lo'ak had given you some peace, which had made you relaxed. Even you thought this could work, if you could get over Neteyam.
"That over there is earth." Lo'ak stated. "Earth." You whispered at the same time. He turned his head slowly towards you, with a confused look. How did you know that was earth? Only his father and siblings knew. There were other people, of course! But you were never around them. Lo'ak knew for sure Spider didn't tell you. Last time, Spider tried guessing where the earth was. He was completely pointing in the wrong direction. Tuk was too young, and Kiri was never out that late with you. That would leave Neteyam. Had you and Neteyam been out that late together? Neteyam wasn't that close with you, was he?
"Would humans be as mean to their planet as they did here?" You questioned as you look at Lo'ak. He was still looking at you. He quickly changed his confused look to a more relaxed one. "From what my dad told us. They are using everything their planet can offer, if not even more." Lo'ak answered as he looked back into the sky. You sighed as you also looked back to the stars. The war had happened before you were born, but you had heard the awful stories. You were glad you never saw any of it.
Lo'ak had talked about many other stars, you didn't know about yet. You had asked him at thousand of questioned about the all. He a chuckled as he could almost tell which question your were about to ask. You had playful nudged him as he tried saying it at the same time as you. There was a moment of silent as you had stargazed. "What is that one?" You asked as you pointed at a bright shining star you hadn't seen before. Lo'ak looked confused before his eyes widened and ears pinned back quickly. "That is no star!" He said as he jumped upon his feet. Lo'ak quickly pulled you up. "Those are ships and they are landing!" Your eyes widened and ears pinned back as well. You both quickly climbed down the tree.
You had slipped on one of the last branches. The leaves had broken your fall as you layed on your back. You saw Lo'ak climbing down towards you. "Are you okay?" He asked worried as he offered you his hand. You waved him off, saying you would follow. You quickly got up and followed close behind Lo'ak. "Lo'ak! I know a shortcut!" You shouted to make sure he heard you. "Lead the way." He said as you started running in another direction. You kept running, not thinking about your secret place. "Through here." You said as you moved some big leaves out of the way. You had arrived at your secret place. The flowers started to glow purple as the two of you ran through them. Lo'ak looked at them in amazement.
You had stopped in your track at the sight in front of you. It was Neteyam and Inani. Inani stood in front of Neteyam, just inches apart with the purple flowers creating a circle around them. Lo'ak who was still looking at the glowing flower around the two of you, bumped into you. Making you both almost lose your balance. This quickly got the attention of the two ahead of you. Lo'ak stood beside you to see what was going on.
"What is she doing here?" You asked as you looked at Neteyam. "What are you doing here, bro?" Neteyam asked as he looked at his brother. Lo'ak had grabbed your hand as he started walking. Neteyam looked at your hands together as he could feel his heart raising. "No time to explain. We have to go!" Lo'ak said as he pulled you along. Lo'ak quicked his pace, letting go off your hand. You followed him, making Neteyam and Inani do the same. Neteyam ran next to you, which left Inani behind you and Lo'ak in front of you.
"I know what we agreed on earlier. But that doesn't mean you can bring someone to OUR secret place!" You tried to silenty shout at Neteyam. Lo'ak and Inani didn't have to know about this. "Look who is talking! You did the same!" He said harshly. You shook your head before catching up to Lo'ak. You were now running next to Lo'ak. He did, in fact, hear you both. This had made him realize there was more going on between his brother and you than he originally thought. It made him puzzle the piece together. You had been late and acted nervous when he defended you with the stargazing lie. So you had been out with Neteyam all night, stargazing in your secret place. Which also explained why you knew about the earth.

Part 6
♢♢----------------------♢♢
'Make it harder than it already was.' The words that had kept him up all night. They held so much meaning when you had said them. But right now, it felt like an excuse to him. He couldn't place why he felt like it was just an excuse. Those weren't even the words that had hurt him the most. 'This was a mistake.' Those words and the why you whispered them. Those four words came out like you had wanted to say them a while. It made him feel like you meant knowing him was the mistake. He couldn't shake them off. So when the morning came, he played the bags under his eyes off as if he had been stressed about his training.
You, on the other hand, had gotten into trouble in the morning. Your father knew you came home late, and when he asked why, you couldn't tell him the truth. You stated you were alone enjoy the forest at night. Your father didn't believe a word you said. "Dad, you have to believe me. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary." You argued, pleading that he would just trust you. "I know you well, daughter. So don't you try lying to me!" He said sternly, waiting on a truthful response. But he got nothing but silence. You could say anything else he would believe with getting punished. "If you won't tell me. I'll have no other choice than to punish you." There wasn't anything else you could do. If you told him the truth, he would have been disappointed and you would have gotten a bigger punished. You looked to the ground, waiting to hear your punishment.
Your father thought for a minute. He couldn't punish you with a lot at the moment. He wanted you to spend as much time with Lo'ak as you could. You and Lo'ak flew your ikrans a lot together. So, not flying your ikran was out of the question. Not seeing your friend, aka the sully kids, was out of the question too. That only punishment left would be Spider, which was a really tough one since he was close to Lo'ak too. "Your punishment will be.... No seeing Spider for a week!" It was the punishment your father had intended, but he didn't have much choice. You didn't argue knowing the only other punishment would be staying with your mother for a week, not seeing any of your friends. Even if that did include not seeing Lo'ak, meaning your father tried not to do that.
"Punishment? Why is she being punished?" Lo'ak stated as he walked in. You looked at him surprised, you didn't think he would show up. "She was late last night and won't tell me the truth." You looked down. He probably also wanted to know where you were. You didn't think he would defend you. "Didn't she tell you? I took her out last night to the high tree. We may have lost track of time watching the stars." He defended you, trying to get you out of your punishment. Who did he know about watching the stars? Had Neteyam talked to Lo'ak about last night? Your father looked at you questionable. You nodded at your father, agreeing with Lo'ak. "Then why didn't you say so?" Your father asked you while studying your every move. You looked at Lo'ak, who gave you a reassuring smile. "I... I find it a bit embarrassing telling you. Lo'ak and I have been out getting home late. I just hate to bother you by telling you I'm with him all of the time." You tried your best explaining. Your father glared at you before saying you weren't getting punished. He just wanted you to tell him the truth from the beginning next time. He ushering you out with Lo'ak, trying to set the peace.
"Why did you defend me? You don't even know where I was yesterday." You questioned when you're far enough from your home. "You getting punished is slightly inconvenient. Especially if you can't see Spider, we both spend a lot of time with him after all." He explained, making you grateful for his help. The two of you walked to the edge of the forest to go get Spider. "Watching the stars together. Where did you get that from?" You questioned softly, afraid of his answer. You tried to hide your nervousness, not knowing if it was working. "You like watching over the forest. I don't think you mind looking up a bit more." He chuckled as he scratched his neck. He wasn't wrong, though.
Spider walked over to you two, with a big smile. It was the first time he was being picked up by two of his friends. "Look here, the one that almost got punished for getting home late! If it wasn't for me you two would not be seeing each other for a week!" Lo'ak announced as you gave him a side eye. Lo'ak gave you a playful nudge as spider looked at you confused. "Shut it." You almost giggled. Spider was sure that you didn't drop him off that late, so why were you home late? "It wasn't that late when you left, was it?" Spider questioned still looking confused. You ears pin back just a little as you looked at him. "No, it's wasn't. But not being tired made me wander into the forest and do a bit of sightseeing." You answered.
Spider nodded, but he wasn't sure you were telling the whole truth. He couldn't help but think about the conversation you had last night. Had the reason for you being late something to do with the person you actually liked? You were hiding something and Spider knew it. He didn't like to think that this could maybe ruin your arrangement with Lo'ak. If that were to happen, it wouldn't be good for the friendship you all had. Lo'ak and you didn't have feelings for each other the way you needed to, but it could still ruin everything. It could end up hurting you both or your family's.
Neteyam was walking with Tuk while holding her hand. Tuk enjoyed spending time with Neteyam alone. It made her feel protected. "So why was not getting to hang out with me going to be your punishment?" Spider questioned you as the three of you walked into the village. This had gotten Neteyam's attention. 'Why were you being punished?' He thought. Neteyam was confused before getting worried. "My father didn't have many choices. After all he wants us to get closer." You answered, looking at Lo'ak as you said 'us'. Neteyam clenched his jaw while squeezing his hands a bit harder. He didn't like that you were getting closer to his brother by the day.
"Aahh Neteyam! You're hurting me." Tuk said trying to get her hand out of Neteyam's. All of you looked over to Tuk, who was beside Neteyam. This made Lo'ak standing closer to you with spider a bit further on your other side. You looked at Neteyam worried. He looked tired, your ears pinned back as guilt filled you. Spider looked at you, his eyes widened as he saw you looking at Neteyam with ears pinned back. He kept silent, now fully understanding your last conversation. "I'm sorry, Tuk. I didn't mean to hurt you." Neteyam apologized before picking Tuk up. Neteyam looked at you, his eyes shifting to his brother. He noticed how his brother had gotten closer to you. It made him feel kind of guilty for liking you. He had to let you go, if that meant his brother would be happy. Neteyam gave you a gentle yet tired smile before walking away. Tuk hugged Neteyam harder as if she knew something was going on with her oldest brother.

"Misheard Words, Broken Bonds"
♤ Featuring: Lo'ak x Female Reader
♤ Summary: Neteyam was close to you and one of your friends (Lisya) when you were younger. Lo'ak always thought you liked his brother. But when Neteyam died and you got mated with Lo'ak, he was always scared that he was your second choice.

♢ I'm Evelight_Navi on wattpad, this is part of my one shot collection.
♢♢----------------------♢♢
"Neteyam would've been a good mate. If only he was still alive, life would've been so much different." Lo'ak heard you say to your friends as he walked by. Your friends all giggled. Lo'ak had slowed down, not believing what you just said. "You know death doesn't stop you from love that person." One of your friends replied. He shook his head as he started walking away. He couldn't listen to this. You were almost out of Lo'aks earshot. "But Lo'ak is a loser." He could barely hear you say it. It made him ball his fists. How could you say that? He was your mate! It made him so furious that he drowned out everything you said after that. He mated with you and you betrayed him.
Lo'ak had snapped. He always thought you would've mated with his brother if he was still alive. But you calling him a loser made him lose it. He had tried to be a good mate to you. Lo'ak never complained and was always there for you when you needed him. Or so he thought, you didn't need him. You need his brother. Even though he knew you never loved him like you did Neteyam, he never thought you would stab him in the back. He couldn't imagine you being so awful
Lo'ak had stromed towards you and your friends. He grabbed your arm and pulled you along with him. He still drowned everything you and your friends said out. He had walked far away with your arm still in his grip. You pleaded for him to let go, but he didn't listen. You didn't pull away. You just tried following his pace. He stopped somewhere on a distance beach, making sure nobody was within earshot.
Lo'ak let go of your arm and walked a bit further before stopping. You had grabbed your arm as you inspected it. Lo'ak had squeezed too hard, it was going to leave a mark. You knew he didn't mean to hurt you, so you dropped your arm as you walked closer to Lo'ak. "What is going on, Lo'ak?" Lo'ak turned around to look at you. He was silent, but you could tell something was bothering him. You reached your hand out, but he took a step back. His actions confused you more by the second. "You can tell me. I'm your mate, after all." You said, trying to reassure him. He shook his head and pointed his finger towards your chest. He tried to speak but was unable to get a word out. You took his hand that was pointing at your chest. "You can trust me." You said as you place both of your hands against your chest. He looked at your hands as he sighed. It made him calm down a bit, but he couldn't let this slide. "No." He said sternly as he took his hand of your chest.
Your eyes widened and ears slightly pinned back. "No?" You questioned him. "No, I can not trust you!" He said a bit louder. You felt your stomach drop as your ears pin back completely. What did he mean? You struggled trying to find your words. But Lo'ak had left your speechless. "I heard you say it." He almost whispered. He didn't think he could hear himself say it. If he did, it would become real and he didn't want that. "You heard me say what exactly?" It made him angry again. How could you deny it or prevent nothing bad was said? He clenched his jaw shut, trying to hold his anger in. You reach out to him again. You placed your hand on his cheek. Not long after, he pushed your hand away.
"How can you pretend you don't know?!" He said loud but not shouting. It shook you to your core. You had never seen Lo'ak react like this towards you. You knew he could be a hotheat, especially in the war but never towards you. Before you could say anything, he cut you off. He knew you weren't going to admit it yourself. "I heard you say it!" You shook your head still, not knowing what he was talking about. "I don't know what you're talking about." You said slightly raising your voice, trying to be heard. Lo'ak was fed up. He couldn't take you denying it anymore. "You called me a loser with your big mouth!!" He shouted not really knowing why he said that last part, it just came out. "So I have a big mouth?" You were shocked, but it still hurted you. Lo'ak didn't answer, he just stared at you.
Now you were the one shaking your head. How could you insult you and accuse you of something you didn't say. "If I had a big mouth, you would know I never called you that!" You got slightly frustrated with Lo'aks attitude right now. "Well, that big mouth is good at lying!" He yelled in your face. You were now face to face, inches apart. "You can't accuse me of things I didn't say. You hear that loud enough, from my big mouth?!" You shouted back. Lo'ak took a step back while nodding his head. "Loud and clear, big liar!" You shook your head while taking a deep breath. "You can't call me a liar if I'm telling the truth. I'm your mate, you have to believe me!" You tried your best to sound calm, but failing.
"I could do a lot of things before mating with you!" He shouted, making you speechless once again. You looked at him as you swallowed painfully. "I know you were closer to Neteyam. But I never expected you to disrespect ME like that!" He placed his hands on his chest as he said 'disrespect me'. You were about to speak, but Lo'ak cut you off. "Well, congrats, you killed my spirit!" You just stared at him with your ears pinned back, not believe what he said. You searched for the guilty in his eyes, but there was none. There was only anger to be found.
You looked down before walking away from him in silence.  "You leaving means I'm right!" He shouted, making you stop in your tracks. You were about to look over your shoulder and say something. But you stopped mid way, not knowing anything to say to him. He was your mate. Why could he say you killed his spirit? You looked forward again as you started walking away again. You had left Lo'ak standing alone on the beach with nothing but his feelings. He had been so angry that he pulled off the necklace you made for him and chucked it towards the water. It bounced off the water a couple of times before sinking into the watery depths.
Lo'ak had slept on the beach that night, not wanting to go home. But as it got brighter, he knew he needed to go home. He wasn't ready to face you yet. He had said a lot of things he didn't mean yesterday.  He had been frustrated that you couldn't admit what you had said to your friends or just apologizing.  It had hurt him that you thought of him as a loser. He knew that didn't excuse his hurtful words. He had hurt you more than you had hurt him, and he knew it. He had slowly made his way back to the clan. Lo'ak looked around nervousness. He felt like everyone knew what happened. He felt like he was being watched, and that they were silenty judging him.
As he arrived home, he stood in front of it, closing his eyes as he sighed. He took a deep breath before walking in, ready to apologize. He expected to see you broken down. Instead, he was greeted with an empty home. It confused him, so he called out your name. Yet again, being met with nothing but silence. You weren't home, so where could you be. As Lo'ak walked out of your home, he was met with a familiar face. It was Lisya, one of your closest friends. Lo'ak rolled his eyes, not wanting to talk to her. But the relief on her face told him a different story. "Oh good, you're here! Where is Y/n?" She announced as she looked over Lo'ak shoulder, not seeing you.
"We had an argument. Did she come home yesterday?" Lo'ak questioned Lisya as he secretly became more worried. "No, I thought she was with you since you didn't come home yesterday as well." She looked confused about the whereabouts of him yesterday. Lo'ak had looked very worried so that even Lisya could tell. "What did you argue about? Maybe that will explain where she went." He scoffed as she questioned him. Lisya crossed her arms and gave him a dirty look. "Don't be disrespectful. Y/n will tell me later anyway if you don't. " Lo'ak rolled his eyes before telling her everything that happened yesterday.
Lisya gasped and looked shocked as he explained. "You are such an idiot!" You claimed wanting to slap him on the head. "She didn't call you a loser! She said Lo'ak 'my lover'! She had told us you still had a tough time about Neteyams' death." It took Lo'ak breath away. Had he misheard you and accused you? "But the part about Neteyam being a good mate?" He questioned not fully believe he could've misheard everything. Lisya sigh before speaking. "She was talking about him being a good mate for me. You know, we were close. We even talked about getting mated once we were old enough, sadly we never had a chance." Lisya was holding back tears thinking about the love of her life. Lo'ak realized he should've believed you! It made him felling more guilty. He now had hurt you for no reason.
Lo'ak had pushed Lisya out of his way. Received a 'hey!' but ignoring it as he ran in the direction he hope you would be. He had run so fast he thought his legs would give in any second. As he arrived as the two rocks near the deep reef, he slowed down. He was afraid you wouldn't be there so he walked slow. As he got to the otherside of the two rocks he saw a familiar figure sitting on the edge with feet in the water. Lo'ak slowly approached you before sitting down next to you. You didn't look at him, you didn't even acknowledge him. He wrapped his trembling arm around your waist, pulling you closer. "Lisya told me the truth. I didn't know." Lo'ak started off as he looked down at you. You layed your head on his shoulder. Which made him smile slightly. "I'm so sorry. I said a lot of things I didn't mean. You didn't kill my spirit. If anyone did, it would be me! Please forgive!" He begged pulling you even closer, afraid that he would lose you if he let go. "You hurt me, Lo'ak. " You said as your voice cracked. You had been crying and reliving the argument over again eversince you had left him at the beach. "I'll do anything to make it up to you. I promise. " He said as you looked up at him. "And from now on, I'll always believe you!" He finished as he looked into your eyes. You nodded, giving him a small kiss on his cheek. "I see you." You both say in harmony. He could finally see he was never your second choice!
"Where is your necklace I made you?" You questioned him as you rubbed your hand against his upper chest. "You may need to make me a new one." Lo'ak said as he scratched the back of his neck. You laugh while nodding.

Midnight Blue Ⅳ
♤ Featuring: Neteyam x Female Omatikaya Reader
♤ Word count: 1.8k
♢ I'm Evelight_Navi on wattpad, parts will also be uploaded there.
Part 5
♢♢----------------------♢♢
Lo'ak and you had become close over the last few weeks. High tree like Lo'ak called it, had become a place you both would go often together. It wasn't a secret spot, though. Even though you had become closer, there were no love like feelings between the two of you. You hoped this would work out as your parents intended, but stay away from Neteyam was hard. You had tried staying away from him, but being with Lo'ak made it difficult.
You walked with Spider to his home. But you couldn't get Neteyam's face out of your head. He had seemed so happily every time you saw him with Inani, his arranged mate. Maybe he had changed his mind about his arrangement. He seemed different ever since the day you and Lo'ak got arranged. "You know, everyone has seen that there's something going between you two." Spider said as you snapped back to reality. Your eyes widened, and you could feel the heat raising to your cheeks. He knew how I felt about Neteyam?! "Lo'ak told me you guys go to high tree a lot. That does explain why Kiri and I can't find you two lately." You slowed your pace as he continued. You nodded, not knowing how to respond. Spider looked at you as you didn't give him the response he expected. He studied your face, trying to figure out how you felt.
"I know how you both feel, but it could've been worse. At least you have someone to spend your life with! Come on, look at me! I don't even have any peers my age. Sometimes, that makes me wish I was born like you. But that doesn't mean I don't get to enjoy spending time with you!" With a small smile, he nudged you. It made you laugh because you knew he wasn't wrong. Not that you would ever admit that. "You always know what to say to male me feel better." He smiled, felling proud of this accomplishment. "There is nothing wrong with Lo'ak or the arrangement. It's just... I wished it would've been..." You couldn't finish your sentence, afraid you would say too much. A worried face took over spiders' proud look. "You wished it would've been someone else?" He questioned, making you nod. "He uhm... It just isn't meant to be." You tried your best explaining. "You could go against the arrangement when you're old enough. But it isn't that easy, is it?" You shook your head as you stopped at the end of the forest. Spider gave you a reassuring smile as he patted your back before walking the rest of the way alone.
You wanted to be alone before going home. So you decided to go to your secret place. The wind was blowing just hard enough to move all the plants and leaves. It made an opening through the trees, making the sky visible. You walked around making all the plants glow up, which gave your body a purple shine. You stood still taking everything around you in. The breeze was blowing your hair backward as you got shivers. You weren't cold at all. On the contrary, it was comforting. You closed your eyes as you listened to all the plants moving around you. Because of this, you couldn't hear the bushes behind you rustling. Neteyam saw you standing surrounded by the purple glowing plants. 'Beautiful' He thought as he saw your blue skin now shining more like violet. He couldn't just stand there. He had to be next to you in this exact moment.
"Y/n.." Your ears pinned back as you hear your name being called. You look slowly over your shoulder before turning around fully. It was Neteyam standing at the edge of the now colorful plants. He walks closer in silence as you watch his every move. "We haven't talked alone in a while." He stared as he now was in front of you. "I'll leave so you can be alone." You said as you walked past him. "I didn't say I wanted to be alone." He stated as he watched you almost leave. "Why can't we be here together and talk?" You stopped at these words. "Why? You are arranged, and so am I." You started as you turned around and walked closer again. "There's no reason why this is still our secret spot. So why do we still need to do this?" You continued almost whispering as you were now in front of Neteyam. He swallowed visible, taking in what you just said. You slowly shook your head as he didn't say a word. "For old time sake?" He pleaded, looking in your eyes. "Just this once." You sighed.
You looked at the sky as you sat down against a tree. Neteyam sat down next to you. It was silent for a while, nether one of you knowing how to start. You felt a bit uncomfortable sitting shoulder to shoulder with him. It also brought your warmth, which you didn't want to admit you liked. Neteyam looked at you before following your gaze to the night sky. Neteyam started talking about the stars. His father had learned him a lot about them. "And earth should be over there." You shook your head as you looked at Neteyam. "I can't really see which one you're pointing at." Neteyam held onto your waist, making you look at his hand. He pulled you closer to him by your waist, your head now resting between his collar and jaw. You slightly looked at his smiling face.
"Over there!" He pointed into the sky. The glowing plants had grown dark once more, making the stars more visible then before. You could now tell which shining star he was pointing at. He continued talking about all the planets out there. You could feel his body warmth against part of your back, which was laying against his chest. If someone were to catch you like this, they wouldn't think you were just friends. You felt your heartbeat starting to raise. You shifted in Neteyam's arms, hoping he wouldn't notice. But he did notice you shifting around, making him think you weren't comfortable. He didn't want to let go of you. He was enjoying this, and so were you. It was something unspoken, just like the feeling you two had for each other. Yet you both knew you were more than friends. Friends didn't have a secret spot or would lay like this. You two were practically cuddling under the night stars. It was becoming very romantically the longer you stayed like this.
You slowly sat more upright. You felt Neteyam's grip lossen on your waist before fully letting go. Making the warm spot on your waist now getting cold. Neteyam looked at you with a somber expression. He knew what was coming. You would leave, and everything would go on tomorrow as if nothing happened. He couldn't hold back anymore as you stood up in silence. He jumped on his feet before placing his hand on your cheek. "I see you." He announced proudly as your eyes widened at his sudden movements. Deep inside, he was terrified. He was the future olo'eyktan after all, but at this moment, he didn't care. He wanted to be yours and wouldn't let anyone tell him what to do. He was wrong for not going against his parents both times. He should have said no to his arrangement, and he shouldn't have let them get you and Lo'ak arranged.
"This was a mistake." You whispered, not daring to look him in the eyes. He slowly dropped his hand, looking at you confused. Neteyam thought you liked him too! Why else would you have been mad at his arrangement? Or why would you have been sad the day you got arranged to Lo'ak? "I don't understand..." He started. "We shouldn't have been here together. " You trailed off as you started walking away. 'Did you like Lo'ak?' Neteyam started questioning everything he thought he knew. He knew you two had gotten close, but not this close right? It couldn't be, could it?
Neteyam grabbed your arm. You stood still with your back towards Neteyam. "Do you like Lo'ak?" You didn't answer that question. You didn't want to give him the answer. Even if you said yes, you knew he would question it or rather he wouldn't believe you anyways. "Look at me! Do you like him?!" He questioned loudly before clench his jaw. You could feel his grip tightening around your arm. You quickly turned around. "Not yet!" You answered him at the same volume. He looked shocked and confused for a second. You didn't lie, you liked Lo'ak as a friend, but maybe by the time you would mate it would me different. "I don't believe it." He stated softer as he stared into your eyes. He was hoping to find the real answer.
"Lo'ak or me?" Neteyam whispered under his breath. You looked at him confused as you didn't hear him. He slit his hand down your arm holding onto your hand. You looked at your hands together. It made you close your eyes before opening them again and looking into Neteyam's eyes. "If you could choose, who would you pick to be your mate? Lo'ak or me?" You tried letting go of his hand, but he wasn't letting you. "We can't be together. Neteyam we are.." You started before Neteyam interrupted you. "That's bullshit and you know it! Tell me the truth!" He said harshly. You didn't recognize him like this. Where did the soft lovable Neteyam go? You hardly pulled your hand away from his. "You are arranged with Inani! I can't come between the future olo'eyktan and tsahik! Everything has been decided and that's it!" You gave him the truth he needed to hear, not the one you both wanted. It would ruin everything, the clan would be mad at you for interfering. Your parents would be disappointed. You were their only child, you couldn't make them regret trusting you. "There is no question for you to ask and there isn't one for me to answer." You finish slowly as you took a step back.
Neteyam couldn't believe this. He wanted to give you his all, and yet here you were leaving. He didn't care about being the future olo'eyktan. He just wanted to be happy, with you. If being the future olo'eyktan meant that he had to sacrifice his happiness, he didn't want it! You started to walk away. Neteyam was about to grab your arm again, but you stopped him. "Don't make this any harder than it already is." You could barely get it out. He looked at you with saddened eyes. He watched you leave him there alone, with the purple light trail you left behind. 'Make it harder than it already was.' He couldn't get those words out of his head. They had to mean something, didn't they?

Lo'ak?" You asked a bit shocked, not fully processing what your parents said. You didn't know how you felt about this. You had never seen Lo'ak as more than a good friend, let alone being your future mate. "Yes, Lo'ak. You're always with the Sully kids, you must know who he is." Your father said, crossing his arms. "Of course, I know who he is. I-I guess I didn't expect it to be him." You looked down, feeling slightly uneasy. As if it wasn't bad enough already that you felt uncomfortable around Neteyam. Your relationship with Lo'ak would now change too. "It's has been decided some time ago. Toruk Makto asked us to wait to announce it until they announced Neteyam's arrangement." You nodded at your mother's words, understanding your parents couldn't tell you earlier.
Neteyam had been silent since hearing Jake tell them Lo'ak and you would be arranged. Neteyam knew you were an only child and that your parents would arrange you. Deep inside him, he wished you could be his arranged mate instead of his brother's. You would be so close to him, yet so far out of reach. He hadn't noticed he zoned out until Kiri and Tuk left, meaning it was time for him to leave too. You would be coming over any second now with your family. But instead of leaving, he found himself sitting down next to his brother. "Neteyam leave! This has nothing to do with you." Jake said sternly while looking Neteyam in the eyes. Neteyam was fighting with himself. He wanted to obey his father, but he couldn't just do nothing. He opened his mouth but closed it again before saying a word.
"Neteyam..." Neytiri said gently before being interrupted by you and your family arriving. Your parents were the first to walk in with you behind them slightly looking down. Neteyam searches for your eyes, hoping to make eye contact. He wanted you to notice him. Your family and you sat down across the Sully's after getting a quick welcome. "I'm not going to ask you again." Jake said, grabbing Neteyam's attention. This got your attention as you looked from Jake to Neteyam. Before he could argue or do anything of the sorts, your mother spoke. "He can stay, he is the future olo'eyktan after all." Neytiri looked at Jake, giving him a nod, signaling she agreed with your mother. Neteyam looked back at you, trying to find any hint in your eyes before you looked away.
You look at Lo'ak to try and figure out how he felt. Lo'ak was already looking at you doing the same. He gave you a small reassuring smile. Maybe there won't be a lot of changes between the two of you. It made you feel better, relieved even. Neteyam saw what was happening as he looked between the pair. He had never thought of you two as more than friends. He couldn't imagine it actually.
You could feel Neteyam eyes burning holes in your skin. Both your parents did most, if not all of the talking, making sure everything was settled like they wanted. "We want the both of you to get to know each other better, without the rest of the kids around." Your father stated, you nodded. "Without you too, Neteyam. " Jake said glaring at Neteyam. "I won't interfere, sir." He answered.
Not long after, you found yourself standing outside with Neteyam and Lo'ak by your side. You felt an uneasy tension hanging around. "I better let you two alone.." Neteyam said before turning around and walking off. Lo'ak turns to you with a small smile, trying to make you more comfortable. You give a gentle smile back, which makes him smile more. "Let's go." He said as he grabbed your hand before dragging you along with him. Neteyam had turned back around as he realized he didn't know where he was going. He watched Lo'ak grab your hand and walk off, making him clench his jaws.
Lo'ak had brought you to your ikran. He connected to his ikran, making you do the same. You follow Lo'ak as he flew off before flying next to him. "Where are we going?" You asked as Lo'ak lifted his shoulders. "No where in particular. I thought we could show each other what we liked." He said before diving toward the ground. You smile before going after him. You could see that Lo'ak was good at flying as he dogde al the trees as he flew close to the ground. And man was he fast, but you're fast too. You start laughing as you almost overtook him. Right as a huge floating rock came in view, he flew almost straight up, barely missing it. You quickly swerve to the side to not fly straight into the floating rock.
You slowly fly up to where Lo'ak is waiting for you. "I see you like flying and the thrill of it." You chuckled as you fly next to him. "Yeah, I like to make it a little interesting, don't I?" He starts laughing as we slowly made or way back home. You look in front of you, noticing it's getting late. Lo'ak looks over to you before you two slowly descend and land. "So what is something you like a lot?" He questioned getting of his ikran. "I like looking over the forest. It's just so beautiful." You said daydreaming about the view you last saw with Neteyam. You silenty wished you were there again, before all of this and with the perfect view. "I haven't seen it around eclipse though. " You stated as you looked up into the sky.
Lo'ak nodded as he grabbed your hand. He started walking in the opposite direction than the clan was. You held your ground, knowing you couldn't be late. Lo'ak turned to you confused as you let go of his hand. "The clan is this way." You stated as you crossed your arms. He rolled his eyes, Lo'ak knew which way the clan was. "I'm not taking you back yet." He said, trying to pull you along, making you uncross your arms. "Well, I won't go with you if I don't know where we are going. And I can't be late or my father will ground me." You continue while turning around as you started walking home."I'm taking you someplace you will like very much. I am sure they won't ground you if you tell them you were with me." He said as he jumped in front of you. "I promise you, it will be worth it!" He looked at you with pleading eyes. You sigh, he was right and you knew it. "Okay, show me."
He quickly grabbed your hand as he stared running. Lo'ak knew that if you didn't hurry up, you would miss it. You noticed a huge tree not far away. Lo'ak let go of your hand and started climbing up the tree. You quickly followed him up. Lo'ak helped you up upon the last branch. You looked around and the view was even more breathtaking than last time with Neteyam. You sat down somewhere on the outerside of the big branch you two stood on. Lo'ak sat next to you. "How did you find this place?" You questioned in amazement. "Spider tried to race me up here. He never made it fully up here though." He laughed, thinking back about Spider being exhausted afterward. Slowly, the eclipse took place, covering the entire forest in darkness. You could see all the glowing plants from up here. Like you said before, it was nothing but breathtaking.

Part 3
♢♢----------------------♢♢
It's been a while since it became your secret place. Neteyam and you went there often. It had become a safe place for both of you. If you needed a place to think you would even go there alone and so would Neteyam. But being there together was more special.
"Neteyam, can you believe it's been so long since you first showed me this place?" You asked him as you lay in the grass looking at the trees. He sat up before making an mhh sound. "It became a safe haven, didn't it?" He chuckled as he stared down at you. "Yes, I just hope it stays that way. I would hate to lose this sweet spot." You looked back at him. Both of you knew that you were growing older, and this would come with great responsibilities. It was scary not knowing how our futures could be changed in a single event. It had grown dark yet again. Meaning the two of you had to go home again, not knowing it would probably be the last time spending time here together.
As you arrived home, your parents seemed to be thrilled. At first, you were confused about their behavior. But soon you understood what they meant, they had heard big news from the Sully family. "So what is the news about them?" You asked your mother. If it was big news, wouldn't the Sully kids have told you what it was? Wouldn't Neteyam have told you? "He is getting arranged!" Your mother responded excitedly. It couldn't be Neteyam, could it?! You knew he was the future olo'eyktan, but wasn't this yo soon? Neteyam would have told you right since you two were very close?!
"Neteyam, of course! He is the future olo'eyktan." Your father stated. It was understandable that your parents were excited. It meant that the future olo'eyktan was getting old enough to train, and one day lead. You acted excited before telling them you were tired. As you lay there, you couldn't sleep. All you could think about was Neteyam getting arranged. You liked Neteyam for a while now but could admit it to yourself, let alone to Neteyam. You didn't know if he felt the same. But it still hurted that he didn't tell you that he was getting arranged so soon. Did he know this was happening? Your thoughts going back and forth kept you up for the longest time. It was very late when you eventually did fall asleep.
Neteyam did know this was happening. He thought his parents wouldn't go through with it, let alone them deciding so fast. He didn't want to be arranged to someone he didn't love. Neteyam already had his eyes on someone, but that wasn't the person his parents arranged him with. He hoped the rest of the clan didn't know about it yet, so he could tell you. He didn't want you to hear it from someone else. But knowing her parents, they would already have told the whole clan about the arrangement. He wanted to scream at his parents, tell them off. But the future olo'eyktan can't only think about himself. Neteyam couldn't be selfish, even if he didn't want this.
You groaned as your mother woke you up. She had let you sleep in, which was something you didn't do. You would always pick up Spider before spending time with the Sully's. You got up and had a late breakfast before heading deeper into the forest. You knew they were probably waiting on you there. You still felt tired, sad and a little betrayed. Hearing everyone talk about it before arriving didn't help either.
"Look who finally showed up!" Lo'ak announced, making everyone look in your direction. You noticed Tuk wasn't there, meaning it would be the five of you today. You quickly look at Neteyam before looking to the ground. "I missed you this morning. I thought you were death!" Spider said before Kiri smacked him lightly on the head. "Just because she is late one time doesn't mean she's dead." Kiri stated while rolling her eyes at Spider. "What happened?" Lo'ak asked worried. Everyone knew you weren't one to be late for no reason. "Had trouble sleeping last night. Mother had to wake me." You explained, hoping they wouldn't ask more questions.
The rest of the day went normal. Except between Neteyam and you,  Neteyam tried to make eye contact and start conversations. You didn't look him in his eyes and answered him shortly. He noticed you look hurt, but it couldn't be because he was arranged, could it? It's because you had to hear it from someone else, wasn't it? At one point, Neteyam saw you walk alone in the back of the group. He slowed his pace until he was next to you. Neteyam decided that you needed some time, so he just walked beside you.
"Did you know?" You asked him, seeing that the others couldn't hear you. "I did, but I didn't think it would be arranged so quickly. I thought I had time to tell you." He tried to explain while searching your face for a reaction. You looked at him, giving him a small smile. "You must be starting your training soon, right?" You asked, he nods. "Yeah, I will be pretty busy. But we will still have our secret place!" He tried being exciting, but you could tell he was having trouble. "Yeah, our secret place..." You could barely whisper. "Let's go there now! Then we can..." You interrupted him. "I don't think that's a good idea anymore. You are arranged and there isn't much me can discuss about this situation." You said, giving him a small smile before running to join the others.
You can't come between this arrangement and you know it. Even if you want to so badly. You don't even know if he feels the same. And secondly, you're both too young to be actually mated. Kiri and you start talking about ever little thing in the forest you hadn't noticed before as you walked around. Giving the boys upfront all the time in the world , for whatever they were doing. It was long before Spider and Lo'ak came running towards us. Lo'ak reaching us first, sticking out his tongue at Spider as he turned towards him. "Still the fastest, and I always will be!" He shouted at Spider. He didn't look so amused anymore. "You know, one day I will beat you, and the last thing you will see is my ass." He promised Lo'ak, who just laughed.
"Where is that older brother of mine?" Lo'ak stated as he looked around. Kiri rolled her eyes before walking closer to Lo'ak. "He is probably going back... to start training early!" She started whispered before shouting. Making Lo'ak and Spider jump back. Making you giggle at their reaction. "Damn, you don't have to shout it, sis." Lo'ak complained. You knew he was probably at your secret place. But right now, you just could be with there. If you did, you would probably cry and that would mess everything up. The four of you decide to get back and have an early dinner. Meaning you could go to bed early without having to hear more about the arrangement of the future olo'eyktan.
In all the madness that had happened today, you had forgotten something important. Neteyam being arranged wasn't that much of a surprise after all. It was with who he was arranged that was a surprise. You were also getting arranged, but you always thought it would be with Neteyam since your family's were close. So who were they going to arrange you with?!

Part 2
♢♢----------------------♢♢
You leaned against a tree right outside the forest waiting for Spider. It didn't take him long to run out the door with Norm behind him, saying he should take a spare like usual. Spider ignored him and ran to you. "Good morning, y/n. Where are we going today?" He laughed as he nudged you. You rolled your eyes. "I don't know. Where don't we usually go?" You played along as you both started walking. Suddenly, he ran to a nearby tree root and climbed on top of it. Making him tower over you as you walked towards him. "We should go to the Sully kids and befriend them. It's time to finally meet them after avoiding them for years!" He stated as he puffed his chest out.
"But there is no way of telling what they will do to you since..." You gave him a worried face as you walked past him. "Since what?" He questioned as he walked beside you. "Spider, you know. You're human and... slightly smaller!" You teased him before running away. He called after you as you started running. You knew you could always get him by stating he was smaller. It didn't take long for you to reach the clan with Spider still running after you. You looked behind you to see how far away he was. He actually was that far. If he stretched out his arm, he could definitely grab your tail. Not that he would actually do that.
As you turned back around, all you could see was a blue chest before colliding with it. Making both of you to fall down, with you on top of this person. You opened your eyes, which you didn't notice you closed after colliding. A familiar face staring back at you. "Nice to see you too, y/n." Neteyam laughed from under you. Your eyes widened as you heard him say that. "If it isn't
y/n make an entrance!" Lo'ak said as he walked to the scene he just witnessed. You quickly stand up, also helping Neteyam up. "Well, I guess you got your payback." Spider stated as he pats you back.
"What made you run in such a hurry?" Kiri asked as she and Tuk walked closer. "Well, y/n and I were joking, and she..." Spider started. Tuk wrapped her arms around my leg. You patted her head before placing your hand on her shoulder. "She called you small again, didn't she?" Lo'ak interrupt Spider. Spider nodded as Neteyam chucked. "You small boy." Tuk giggled before sticking her tongue out. "You wanna be tickled?" Spider asked as he approached you and Tuk. "Y/n will protect me!" She stated, looking up at you.
As the day progressed, all six of you ran through the forest and climbed many trees, reaching incredibly heights. Tuk sometimes falls behind because of her younger age, but never being left alone. Lo'ak and Spider racing each other to the top of the tree, while Kiri and Tuk walk through the forest. You sat on the edge of the mountain, admiring the scenery before you. It wasn't your first time seeing this, but it still amazed you. Neteyam sat down next to you, giving you a small nudged. "You never get used to it, do you?" Neteyam questioned as he looked towards you. You shook your head with a small smile. "It's still as breathtaking as if I see it for the first time." You say looking at the scenery in front of you, which had become slightly darker.
Neteyam noticed it too, making him stand up and reach his hand to you. You gladly took it as he pulled you up. "You know, the others are probably already heading home." He trailed off. You nod, knowing what he meant. "We should head home too, I guess." You said as you started walking. Neteyam grabbed your hand, pulling you back before letting go of your hand. "If you don't mind, we could make a detour home. I want to show you something, which I hope you find as breathtaking as this scenery." He claimed with a gentle smile and big eyes, knowing you can't refuse if he does that. "Sure, but we can't be late. My dad will ground me if I'm late again." You stated before Neteyam grabbed your hand, pulling you along with him.
The sky had gotten dark as you guys reached the place. Neteyam let go of your hand and thouched the plants surrounding him. The plants reacted to his touch, making them glow a beautiful bright purple. Your eyes widened in admiration. Here and there, the spiraling animals fly up. You quickly follow the same movements Neteyam makes. Making the whole area around the two of you light up. Neteyams looks at you as you move around through the plants. The plants make your skin shining purplish against the darkness. Neteyam likes seeing you happy, if only this moment could last forever. "Neteyam, this is beautiful! Thank you." You said as you looked at him. He gave you a gentle smile as he walked closer to you. "How did you find this place?" You questioned him. "I just happened to stumble across it." He laughs as you shake your head. "You can't just stumble upon this! You find this treasure." You stated as you make turn around.
"You know, as much as I want to stay here. We must get back before my father grounds me." You sighed as Neteyam walked next to you. "Or you could pretend to be lost, so we can stay here longer." He said a little nervous as he nudged you. You looked at him shocked. "You know my father will never believe I got lost in the forest! And I didn't get lost. We got lost together, or did you forget your family will search for you as well?" You said as he nodded at you, ears down a bit. You both started walking back to the clan, still talking about early. You two got quicker to the clan than you both thought you would.
"Promise me you will take me there again." You said standing in front of Neteyam. He nodded, giving you a reassuring smile. "Our secret place!" He said as you waved him goodbye before going home.
