Submitted towards Extravaganza 2022 COMIC category The Aftermath of A Grave Visit (Wong Shi Chin) – "A confrontation while visiting a cemetery lands Derrick‘s younger brother in the hospital. While waiting for his brother's hospital discharge, Derrick encounters the culprit standing outside the ward: Elise, a former mutual friend who drifted apart years ago. This comic seeks to highlight a part of how human relationships mend and heal; specifically, that forgiving and forgetting is not always so easy (nor practical). There‘s a sense of irony conveyed from the tree with golden flowers, where golden flowers usually represent friendship and Joy, they were qualities of her friend. The comic opens with her struggling to get over the death of her friend, and shows the importance of letting go to heal from the death of someone close to you. Submitted towards Extravaganza 2022 COMIC category Cruel world (Nurul Dania Irliyana Binte Mohamad Faizal) – A story of a mother and daughter that lived in peace before the rotten humans attacked. The sadness snapped a piece in the daughter’s heart or rather known as the moon. A promise she made to her dear mother stayed in her memories, hoping to be able to ensure her mother would rest in peace after doing as she promised. To the girl in my comic, she explores. ”Dive In“ thus showcases healing through a young girl who finds solace in the calm sea, hidden in the depths of her bathtub. Submitted towards Extravaganza 2022 COMIC category " Glimpse of Us" (Nur Qistina Binte Mohammad Nurhuzaifah) – Many people in the world listen to music to relate to their own lives. Personally, music helps me realise that I can become whoever I want. Sarah, my main character, listened to a song named “Glimpse of Us” by Joji. An excerpt from the lyrics states that “Perfect doesn't mean that it‘s working, so what can i do?” This shows that however hard we try to pursue our interests in life, it may not necessarily turn out as what we envisioned. Sometimes, you just happen to need someone to lend you a hand in overcoming your difficulties; someone who could act as a healer and be there for you when you start to break. In my artwork, a girl is going through a hard time all alone, and was soon pushed to the brink of insanity. Submitted towards Extravaganza 2022 TRADITIONAL category Healing (Ashton Ng Jing Rui) – My artwork is about a trained medic that heals plant in a forest healing plants and helping the plants that are dying by healing them to max health preventing them from dying and he is finding why the plant is dying.In my poster i have drawn a man in the forest healing plants and plants getting their colors back and a mountain at the back with many trees with a few birds flying in the sky in the afternoon when the sun is already setting causing the sky to turn orange. Peace and Love (Choo Jing Wen) – When I heard the word ‘healing’, I instantly thought of a certain two sceneries of my two favourite dramas. When I watched the dramas, I came across those sceneries which struck a chord with me and left a strong impression on me. Hence, this painting consists of a combination between two main focuses in the sceneries respectively. The main focuses are the wishing tree and the lake. The wishing tree and the lake symbolises the peace and love displayed in the dramas. Even though the scenes do not exist in the real world, imagining them allows me to feel calm. "Mental healing" (Ow Zun Sin) – "My artwork is about a young homeless girl who was beaten up from going around to steal food.The girl's face is all bruised up and dirty and the eyes are filled with the reflection of a lady who is reaching out her hand to help her. Her eyes are filled with tears of pain , suffering and hope as light shone into her eyes. I created this artwork to express the feeling of knowing that something is wrong morally, can’t help but continue on with the wrong doing. Needing help with something that is not within our control. Submitted towards Extravaganza 2022 TRADITIONAL category MY HOME (Chen Yunuo) – The word “healing” interprets people's yearning for life. For me, healing means every time I think of home and the days I spent in my hometown, Beijing, the warm feeling that will come to my mind. Little me gently in the daylight was ablaze with lights, and my finger in the light of faint luminescence rhythm. The sky shone with the light from the fireworks. Happiness is not the blink fireworks, but the time I see my home. While I was drawing this picture, I painted some warm sunbeams. I seemed to feel the warmth of home, I suddenly have a feeling of want to cry, but efforts to control. The girl represents a human and the fishes represent her problems she was not willing to face. She is trying to escape from reality by escaping to her imaginations but faces them in the end. My artwork is showing that no matter how hard you try to escape from your problems, you still have to face the in the end. I used mediums such as lino cut and zentangle in this piece of artwork. Submitted towards Extravaganza 2022 TRADITIONAL category Hearts (Goh Qian Qian Angelina) – Healing on an emotional level can come in various forms, like meditation or self care. But for me, I feel that healing can be simple - just having someone stay by your side and them reassuring that they’ll always be here. It doesn’t seem like much on the surface, but it is comforting when my close friends remain supportive and look out for me even in my darkest days.
