imagine…
finding daryl a really cool zippo lighter and seeing him mindlessly flick it open and close throughout the day.
sitting with your feet in his lap while you both relax on the porch swing (alexandria era).
pinky linking instead of full on hand holding.
finally getting to the playful butt swat stage of your relationship + him winding up his t-shirt and chasing you around the house.
him praising you whenever you kill an animal: “nice shot, girl.” “look at you.“ “atta girl.”
reading a book with your legs crossed on his work bench as he tinkers with his bike.
getting a cold and when daryl dips down to kiss your lips, you turn your head away from him. “daryl, don’t! i don’t wanna get you sick!” and then he grabs your chin and presses a firm kiss on your lips anyway.
daryl finds a cowboy hat and drops it on your head. you let out a giggle. “what’s that saying? save a horse, ride a cowboy?” you smirk. his cheeks darken and he turns away from you. “think ya’ got tha’ backwards..” he drawls. “no? pretty sure i’m right…”
eating a lollipop and daryl walks right up and pulls it out of your mouth and puts it in his (or vise versa).
having a journal that you can both communicate in. we all know daryl isn’t the best at communicating his feelings verbally and maybe you aren’t either, so you just write back and forth to each other.
i love the journal idea because you would use it for everything. daryl has to be up early to help rick with something? he’ll scribble a quick “helping rick. come find me.” and as soon as you wake up and feel the void in bed beside you, you go right to the journal.
him getting hard as fuck when you give shane attitude (farm era).
you get into an accident on a run and ending up losing a lot of blood and you wake up later in the infirmary. “ya’ lost a lotta blood,” he says. “then i bet you did too…” you smiled groggily knowing that he gave you some of his (he’s a universal donor).
rubbing aloe vera on his sunburnt skin and he just lets out these sexy ass heavy breaths.
him watching you get visibly frustrated when someone else is helping you with something, but not doing it the way you want it done, so daryl steps in and tells them to get lost.
daryl giving you cold medicine while you’re sick and he makes you take it in front of him and open your mouth to show him that you swallowed it.
a/n: these are my favorite scenarios to imagine when I'm in class :) if you wanna use any of these ideas for a fic, tag me! i'd love to see them!

hi i just recently got into arcane and i absolutely love it VI IS SO FINE AHHH so imma make a request about her!!
So im thinking Vi x fem!reader, after Vi gets out of prison she visits her long lost girlfriend (long lost? idk if thats the right wording but they havent seen each other cause vi was in prison 🤷🏾) who thought Vi was killed so theres a lot of tears and its angsty and they hug and catch up with each other and its overall really cutesy!!
RAIN CHECK
Pairing: Vi x reader
Pronouns used: none
Gendered terms: none
Genre: angst+fluff
// mentions of injury/blood
Tumblr media
"I think we're gonna have to take a rain check on our date." A young Violet mumbled into your hair. She sat beside you while her hand rested on your opposite shoulder. You chuckled, burying your head deeper into the crook of her neck.
"We just ran halfway through the Undercity from enforcers, and that's your priority?" A smirk bloomed on her face as she proudly proclaimed that you'll always be her "number 1 priority."
"Shush, you sap." You knew Vi wouldn't listen on her own, so you made sure of it by gently kissing her lips. That kiss was followed by many, many more pecks, your shared giggling heard between every single one of them.
A small smile grew on your face as you reminisced on the bittersweet memory of your first and only love yet. You continued to fill Ran's glass with an alcoholic drink, sliding it across the counter to them once filled.
After Vi's arrest, you picked up a job at The Last Drop. Although you didn't exactly enjoy working for Silco, it was one of the best positions to hold in the Undercity. You also got to stay close to Jinx as a bonus.
As the end of your shift approached, you alerted Theorem you'd be in the back, packing your stuff.
You quietly made your way back home, walking through some of the more subdued streets of Zaun. However, this time they weren't as peaceful as usual. You groaned when you heard the familiar grunts and bangs from street fights, annoyed that even the silent streets you lived in were being disturbed by brawlers.
While preparing yourself for what was probably the disturbing image of two drunks hassling each other that you'd witness once you turned the corner.
"Where are they? Where's he keeping them?"
You froze, immediately identifying the voice as familiar but not recognizing whose it was.
You laid your hand and head against the concrete wall, listening in on their conversation.
"Keeping them? They work for him."
This voice you immediately realized who belonged to, Sevika. She came by The Last Drop daily.
Shocked and intrigued, you finally peeked around the corner to see whoever was brave enough to fight Sevika.
A woman sat on top of Sevika, back facing you. You were more than surprised to witness what seemed to be Sevika's first losing battle.
Still unable to identify this strange woman, you listened intently to their chat.
"Jinx is like his daughter." The brute spoke in just above a whisper. It seemed that the more context you got, the less sense everything made.
You winced when Sevika used her metal arm to stab the woman, shoving her aside to stand over her. "I'll give her your regards." she drew her steel arm back, preparing to officially end the fight, along with her opponent's life.
Boom
A loud gunshot rings through the air, catching you completely off-guard, almost causing you to stumble backward. You were so focused on uncovering who this mystery lady was that you didn't notice the woman aiming a gun straight at Sevika
The brute begrudgingly fled between some narrow alleyways, small splotches of shimmer following in her path.
Now you could get a proper look at the woman who had captivated so much of your attention.
You almost choke, instantly realizing why that stupid, stupid voice intrigued you so much.
She was alive? Where has she been all this time? How long ago did she come back? Who was the lady with her? Wait, is that an enforcer?
So caught up in your own head, you didn't notice you began walking towards her. An unreadable expression on your face while you approached Vi.
“Stop, what do you want?”
The taller woman, who shot at Sevika earlier, was now holding the same gun in your direction.
Her stern voice snapped you out of your trance, making you scoff when you saw the gold accents on her riffle, her shiny and well-kept boots. 'A Topsider' you thought, the only person who could see you as a threat in this situation.
But before you could give her a snappy retort, Violet had her arms wrapped around you. Although it was evident she was struggling to even stand, it didn't stop her from holding your frame tight enough to nearly cut blood circulation.
"God, I missed you." She whispered into your hair, voice soft and shaky.
You must've dreamed about this moment dozens of times in the past seven years, imagining what you'd say to her, telling her how much you missed her, how worried you've been.
But even after almost a decade of fantasizing about this, all you could muster up was a sob as your hands latched onto the back of her hoodie, twisting the fabric between your knuckles.
This only encouraged her to hold you tighter, "I'm so sorry I was gone, I w-wanted to come back, but I got arrested and-" Her rambling was cut short by a fit of coughs rupturing from her chest. She pushed back slightly so as not to cough on you. That's when you noticed the blood on your torso, which seeped from Vi's wound onto your clothes.
"Jesus, Vi." deciding to temporarily put your reunion aside, you swung Violet's arm over your shoulders, placing your hand around her waist to help carry her. The woman she was with doing the same, whatever impression she might've had of you before disappearing.
“Where’s the nearest hospital?”
“Those aren’t so easy to come across here.”
Tumblr media
“Easy, easy.”
You laid Vi against the walls of her old home. Caitlyn, you understood her name was, stood outside, giving you both privacy.
"I missed you." Violet mumbled, grabbing your wrists gently.
That was your breaking point, the tenderness in her hold, how careful she always was with you. It was like a strong tide breaking down your dam.
A sob wracked through your body as you laid your head against her shoulder, the many emotions that you've been avoiding flooded your senses at once.
"I thought you were dead, you asshole!"
"Y-you can't just disappear and come back like it's nothing!"
Vi didn't say anything, patiently listening to you pour your heart out, rubbing your back as you continued to cry. Tears gathered in her own eyes as she listened to your cries.
Once your borderline wails had turned into quiet sniffles, she placed her hand on top of your head, kissing it repeatedly.
Now practically sitting on her lap, you tilted your head up, observing her features. Although her face had matured, her cheeks were less round, her jawline more defined, she was still as beautiful as ever.
The way she was staring at you made your longing to kiss her harder and harder to ignore. And as much as you wanted to indulge your impulse, you couldn't help but question if it was right. Hell, it'd been seven years, were you even still dating? Just because you didn't move on didn't mean she couldn't.
Your doubts were quickly swept away when Vi leaned downed, stopping right before your lips, letting you pull away if you wanted to.
Smiling slightly, you closed the gap between you two. Violet sighed into the kiss, moving her hands to hold the back of your neck while you cupped her face.
A love-sick smile plastered on her face when you rested your foreheads against one another.
"So, how does tomorrow sound for our date?"

A Mended Promise
Tumblr media
When you woke up today this was the last thing you would've thought to be staring at in seven years.
You stared at the one who you would sneak off with when you were fifteen, laid your head on her chest or sneak into her bunk.
And Vi stared right back at you.
"...Vi?" You muttered, frozen in your spot, tears in the corners of your eyes as you regarded the ghost of your past.
Vi had her own tears in her eyes as she stared back at you, the picture she had in her mind of when she saw you again left completely.
You stood just mere feet apart once more, staring at her face instead of her back like when she left all those years ago.
"(Name)." Vi finally spoke up, keeping her son down as she quickly hurried to you, and once she did she wrapped her arms around you, enveloping you in a hug you both needed and missed.
Your hands stayed at your sides for a moment, taking in her scent and feeling her arms around you, her head almost in your neck as you wouldn't believe she was breathing.
"How are you…" you muttered, the tears welled in your eyes fell down your cheeks. Vi's did as well, pulling her head from your neck as she lifted a hand to cup your cheek.
"I'm so sorry, (Name). I didn't mean to leave you." Vi cried, shaking her head, her thumb wiping away your tears.
You finally allowed your eyes to soften, the tears kept falling as you finally wrapped your arms around her, tugging her into a strong embrace.
Vi had one arm around your shoulder, the other around your waist as she took you in after seven years.
"I thought you died." You mumbled into her shoulder, clinging onto the jacket she wore.
"I thought you died. I'm so sorry, (Name)." Vi apologized again and again, the guilt of seven years washing over her.
"I won't leave you again. I promise I won't." Vi said once more, reassuring the both of you as you stayed quiet, crying and clinging on to her shoulder.
Vi and you didn't let go, never straying from one another out of fear this wasn't real.
You could barely look at Vi. Seeing how much she was different. Her muscles were more defined, stronger than before.
Her hair has grown but she kept it shaven, losing the haircut you accidently gave her with Vanders clippers when you guys were fourteen.
She had tattoos littering her arms and one on her face, and running your thumb over it as you stared into her eyes once again, it didn't matter.
Because you still saw your Vi in her eyes
The Vi who protected you, loved you, kept you safe, let you lay your head on her chest and lay in her bed. The one you ran through the streets with and hopped off rooftops with.
The one you grew up with, the one who left but was now back.
Your Vi has come back.
And you would make sure this time, she wouldn't leave.

Just For a Minute
Tumblr media
The date had loomed over the last week like a storm cloud, each second closer ticking like a bomb to an implosion you still had trouble navigating despite its arrival at the same point in the year.
Sarah's birthday.
He always took this day harder than the other, perhaps the day she'd taken that first air full of lungs and opened her book to a world of possibility was harder to come to terms with than the day that book closed. It wasn't something you understood, and you knew you never would.
Your caution had the bedroom door opening slowly enough to shriek on the hinges, your attempt at discretion failing miserably as you found him sitting on the bed, where you expected him, his right hand locked around his left wrist, head hung. You approached at a speed that gave him ample time to send you away, whether that be with a grunt or a wave of his hand, and you watched intently for any sign of resistance. When you found none, you dropped onto the mattress beside him, your fingers immediately weaving into the graying hair on the back of his head.
“Hey,” you whispered, not expecting an answer.
His lips were pale and chapped, the bags under his eyes slightly more pronounced and darkened, dehydration paired with exhaustion aging him even further than his 53 years on Earth. Tommy had come by earlier but clearly hadn’t succeeded in getting him to do much of anything, a full plate of food and glass of water on the coffee table a clear indicator. At least he’d gotten him out of the room for a little while.
Taking care of you was enough to snap him back just enough, his head finally ticking over in your direction ever so slightly, “You eat?”
“Not yet.”
Silence blanketed the kitchen as he went through the motions of helping you prep a small dinner, the hope he’d take a couple of bites growing as he worked methodically through his tasks. But those dreams were dashed when as soon as the work was done and the pan slid into the oven, he was retreating back to solitude.
It was like a reflex the way you followed, your feet taking you in after a moment of hesitation to him lying on his side atop the old quilt he’d salvaged not long after arriving in Jackson. If he heard your footsteps he gave no indication, your body molding around his as you settled in behind him. He was warm and solid, the familiar scent of pine and leather wafting into your nose as you buried in the unruly hair at the nape of his neck and wrapped your arm firmly around his middle.
Expecting him to turn and swaddle you against his chest as he usually did, but tonight, he was content to remain steady in your hold. You felt his body ease with a heavy sigh, his weight nudging further back into your torso as he melted in your embrace.
It was here that you stayed until you heard his breathing begin to deepen, no words needed as your palm lay flat against the rhythmic thud in his chest, reminding him that despite all he had lost you were still here guarding that fragile heart, the task of its safekeeping one you were more than content to undertake. Even as he slept you maintained the random presses of your lips to his neck and the hollow behind his ear, your hopes to ward off the nightmares that lurked keeping you awake into the early hours of the morning. But he remained at peace, and for tonight that was more important.

“Before you speak don’t move ‘cause i don’t wanna wakeup”
The bright light was making it hard to keep your eyes open, not a single cloud in sight. It was a beautiful place, there was no denying that. Spring had always been your favorite season: leafy trees, blooming flowers, green grass and sunny days. If spring was a place, this would be it.
You decided to explore it, feeling the soft breeze on your skin. There was a big meadow, with a beautiful forest next to it. The bushy green trees complimenting the flowery field. There was something about this place that was so peaceful. Like you were the only person in the world and everything worked for you, rather than against you.
It would be a shame to leave so soon, so you take a seat in between the flowers and take everything in. How could a place so beautiful exist?
Your tranquil state is quickly interrupted by the sound of the grass and dirt being step on. You turn your head to see who the culprit is: a freckley auburnette with big green eyes and, for lack of a better adjective, an angelic face. You were prepared to snap at whoever had taken the sweet blissful state away from you, but after seeing her there was no way.
She doesn’t say a word. She sits next to you. You’d usually not even consider just letting a random stranger make their way to you and sit next to you but this felt different. Saying that you had never met this girl before was an understatement, yet it felt like seeing an old friend. Her presence was warm and pleasant, you felt safe.
“If you are interrupting my moment shouldn’t i at least know your name?” you ask her with a playful grin.
“Fair enough. I’m Ellie.” She chuckles.
You tell her your name and she nods in acknowledgement.
“We haven’t met, have we?” you inquire.
“Not that I’m aware, but it-”
“It feels like it,” you complete her sentence before she can, earning a smile from her.
“Well, I’ve never seen you around here. Think I’d remember a pretty face like yours,” she says will a smirk on her face. You scoff in response, finding her antics amusing, your cheeks definitely a rosy color now.
“It’s my first time here,” you explain.
“Hmm, when you’d get here?”
“What?” You ask with a puzzled face. And suddenly you realize you can’t remember how long you’d been here, let alone how you got here.
Before she can even answer your question you wake up by the obnoxious sound of your alarm.
7:00am
The dream was uneventful, to say the least, but there’s something about it that makes you think about it over and over again throughout the day. It was one of those dreams that bring you unexplainable comfort, like a tender embrace, like feeling like a kid again, like feeling some sense of home in there.
And, well, of course there was Ellie. You kept trying to think if you’d seen her before. Her face plagued your thoughts the most. You’d never seen anyone like her, you’d never met anyone like her.
Something about her made you feel like you could spend hours and hours with her and still crave her company. It was ridiculous, you’d spend time how long with her? Fifteen minutes? And yet, you’d never felt that way with anyone before.
Alas, it was a dream. Just a dream. She was just a beautiful entity your psyche had created. Maybe your brain knew it’s what you craved and was cruel enough to give it to you in the dream realm, only to get it taken away.
You realized it was useless to dwell on your dreams, so you ended up putting the thought of Ellie aside and continuing your day.
That was, until nighttime.
The warm ambience surrounded you once again and before you could take it all in, you heard that raspy voice that had been echoing in your mind all day.
“You left yesterday,” she said.
“Had to go to school.” You giggle at her frowny face. She rolled her eyes at you.
“Yeah well, I didn’t get to ask anything about you.” And damn her flirty tone because it made you weak in the knees.
“What do you wanna know?”
“Just tell me about you.” She shrugged.
“Well, I’m 21, I’m in college, I like cats, reading, animals in general, I like the color green and…I’m pretty boring, don’t have much more to tell you.” You chuckle.
“I like green too.”
“Really? That’s your take on what i said?” You laugh.
“What was I supposed to say?” She protests with a laugh.
“Whatever,” you roll your eyes at her now. “What about you?”
“Well, I’m 22, I’m also in college, I like space, science, comics,” she tells you, not really sure what else to add on to the list.
“Space?”
“Yeah, like, planets and stars and Nasa and shit.”
“Nice, is that your major?” you inquire further.
“Yeah, astrophysics..”
“Just how smart are you?” You ask. Frankly, surprised by the girl.
“Shut up.” She laughs. “What about you?”
“English Lit.” You explain.
“Suits you.”
“Is that good?”
“Yeah, it’s good.” She responds with that cocky smile that you have grown to love in a couple minutes.
She had a sort of charm you hadn’t really seen elsewhere. It was quite boyish and youthful. She had you a little mesmerized. It was quite stupid, considering you barely knew her, but it was true.
“Do you-” and before she could finish her question, you were once again sucked out of your dream.
You groan in annoyance. Annoyed from being woken up, but mostly by the cold morning air reminding you once again that she wasn’t real.
Your brain was creative, you’d give it that. Astrophysics is something you didn’t even know you could come up with.
You do the whole thing again. Get up, brush your teeth, go to school, try to pay attention to school even when you all could think of were Ellie’s freckles and her peachy lips and her pretty dark lashes and the way she had a bun this time, rather than the half-up half-down hairstyle she had last time. Also, about the fact that she was going to ask you something. What was she going to ask you? You could only hope you’d be blessed tonight once more and be able to dream of her.
And so as the sun came down you prepared yourself to go to sleep.
“Please let me dream of her,” you thought to yourself. Pleading your subconscious.
You don’t know when you finally fell asleep, but you were once again in the forest you had began to grow fond of.
“You have a tendency of leaving mid conversation.”
There she was.
You turned to face her, “I don’t really control it, you know?” You laugh.
“Yeah yeah, whatever.”
“What were you going to ask me yesterday?” You ask as you softly kick her foot with yours, an affectionate gesture.
She looks down at your feet, pleased by it. Did the smirk ever leave her face or was it permanently there?
“I was asking if you have a boyfriend.”
“Boyfriend? Ew no.”
She laughs at your frowned eyebrows and your disgusted face.
“So you like girls?”
“Why? Are you gonna ask me out?”
You’d later cringe at your own question once awake. How on earth was she supposed to take you out?
“Maybe.” She said nonchalantly.
“Right. Do you have a girlfriend?”
“Not to worry, all yours.” She winked at you.
“You are kind of cocky, do you know that?”
“Oh, come on, you like it.”
“Do I, now?” You ask with an incredulous chortle.
“I mean, you do blush every time, so I’d say so.” She shrugged.
You could immediately feel your cheeks heating up. How could a girl make you lose your composure so easily.
“You are so annoying,” you said, to which she just laughed.
-
Night became favorite time of the day from then on. All you did was repeat the cycle everyday: wakeup irritated, hope your day passed as quick as possible (not without reminiscing of your dream all day long), and go to sleep in hopes of dreaming of her again. And again. And again. Which, to your surprise, you did. Every single night you dreamt of her.
Somehow your dreams went from feeling like minutes with Ellie, to feeling like a hours. In which you talked about everything.
She was the most fascinating person you’d ever encountered. She was smart as hell, funny, kind and of course, had that little cockiness that never really left her side. Which -she was right- you did really like.
Your dreams had always been quite vivid, but you had never appreciated it until now. You were able to really examine her face, hear her voice clearly, see the detail on her tattoo. You’d feel her hand against yours when you walked around the place, or her hair on your fingers as you raked them through her hair when she’d lied on your lap. Nonetheless, it was always accompanied by that soft and warm glow that came with the dream. You could only imagine how much more you’d cherish it all in real life.
And that was the problem. You were completely and absolutely enamored by a girl in a dream. A girl that didn’t even exist. But how could you go on with your life knowing you’d never find anyone like her, knowing the perfect girl for you was nowhere to be found?
Life started seeming unappealing to you. Taking class, hanging out with friends, going out. None of it made sense. All you could think of all day long was the night. Every single hour you spend awake seemed like one more hour of you and Ellie being apart. It was eating you alive and you were allowing it.
-
As dusk arrived you went straight to bed and let yourself fall into a deep slumber.
Your favorite girl was there, waiting for you. You went to hug her. Ellie hugged you back, allowing herself to relax into your arms.
“Missed you,” you whispered.
“You say that everyday,” she chuckled.
“I miss you everyday,” you giggled in response.
She took your hand and the two of you began your stroll. Admiring the trees, the lustrous pond, the flowers. It never got old.
Today you were telling Ellie about school. You mentioned how you’d lost interest lately, not really bothering enough to commit to your studies as you used to.
“Why’s that?” She asked.
“I don’t know. I don’t really care about much lately. Not school, not my friends, not reading.” It mildly concerned Ellie, but she didn’t say anything.
“You must care about something,” she said as she nudged your shoulder.
“I care about being here with you.” You shrugged.
“Yeah, but, something else.” She insisted.
You shook your head. You didn’t want to lie to Ellie. She was the one person you could talk to. And the truth was that she was the only thing to seem worthy of your attention as of late. “I just wanna be here with you all the time.”
“It doesn’t work like that, doll,” she cooed as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
You felt a tear trail down your cheek, one that Ellie was quick to gently wipe off with her thumb.
She held you for the rest of your time together.
The next morning you slowly opened your eyes, trying to adjust to the change in lightening. You didn’t feel vexed like every other day. You had a tight knot on your chest that you couldn’t explain. A fast-growing affliction that wasn’t usually there.
After that night, you never dreamed of Ellie again.
-
It had been three months since you had last seen her. The first few weeks were pure agony.
There was a lot of crying and screaming involved. You were confused and angry and miserable. There was no way to fix it and you didn’t even know what you were feeling.
There was no one you could talk to either. What were you supposed to say? That you fell for someone in a dream and now you couldn’t deal with the fact that your brain wouldn’t let you dream of her anymore?
You kept going to sleep every night hopeful of seeing her again, but it was completely useless. You eventually gave up, realizing it wasn’t going to happen.
You were forced to resume your life. You focused yourself on studying, hanging out with your friends, going back to your beloved books. Everything was starting to go back to normal. And yet, there was not a single day where you didn’t think of her.
You were headed to your favorite café. Wanting to get some studying done and leaving your apartment for a little bit. As you finally arrived, you settled on your favorite table, put your headphones on and got to work.
Truthfully, your table was a mess. Your computer open, books everywhere and sticky notes all over the place. But it helped you get the work done and that’s what mattered most.
After a couple hours you decided to pack everything up and make your way back home, sleep finally sneaking its way up to you.
As you were walking out the door you heard steps hot on your trail.
“Hey, you left this.”
Your turned around to see who the familiar voice belonged to. She was handing you a notebook, one you must’ve missed in the midst of your mess.
As you moved your eyes up to thank the kind stranger, you were met with those two piercing eyes that hadn’t been able to leave your mind. The short haired girl with auburn hair, freckles and button nose was standing right in front of you, in the flesh.
It was Ellie.

Could u please make n11 with Jinx, vi, caitlyn, cat, dina and ellie?
(Hello! So sorry but I cut out Caitlyn bc six characters is a lot, so sorry but here ya go, Enjoy!)
Falling Asleep On Them
Jinx
Tumblr media
This happens more than you would think
For both of you, really
Jinx doesn’t usually sleep at night, just naps here and there
How does she do it?
I have no freaking clue
But she was just at her desk, coloring on Fishbones because she found the parts
It was pretty bare so why not spice it up and add some mother fucking color
That it the Jinx way
So, as she is coloring the face onto it, she heard your footsteps on the metal of the huge fans
She was about to call out to you, say Hi and whatever
But she was cut off when she just felt you grab her chair and turn her around
She was confused but you just climbed into her lap and just…fell asleep
She just looked down at you for a bit before giggling to herself
She shushed herself like “Shush, (Name)’s sleeping.”
She was all smiling before she turned back to her desk and continued with her drawing
She doesn’t care if your taller than her, no matter your body built or weight
Sleep on her, she doesn't care!
It makes her happy!
Vi
Tumblr media
Vi likes holding you, for some reason
She just likes knowing you are there
She also likes being held tbh
So if you let her sleep on you from time to time, she’ll let you take a nap on her
On her shoulder, in her lap or with your head in her lap
She doesn’t care
As long as she can continue with whatever she is doing, she’s fine
But if she were ever in a situation where she couldn’t continue in fear of waking you up
You will wake up to her frozen in that exact position
She was wrapping her hands after another fight
Really Vi, really?
Anyways
She was wrapping her hand before she looked up and saw you sit in front of her on your guys’ bed
She just smiled at you and said Hi
She was confused when you didn’t respond but she just kinda smirked as you climbed into her lap
She had finished wrapping her hands anyway and just let you
After you were all good and comfortable, you fell asleep
She did not move at all, let me tell you
She didn’t move you either
She just sat there until probably hours later when you woke up
She didn’t care if she was starving, had to use the bathroom, got bored
Her motto is “Don’t move (Name), ever.”
Cat
Tumblr media
You don’t fall asleep on Cat much
Only when you feel like it or just need to be held tbh
She doesn’t like the feeling of not being able to move
So if you do fall asleep on her, it won’t be for a very long time
Like an hour or an hour and a half maybe
And that’s a hard maybe
The most you have ever napped on her was about forty-five minutes
She wasn’t doing much though when you did this time
She was just messing with some markers, drawing on her jacket since the previous colors had faded
And she heard the door to her room open
She looked up and just saw you plop onto the couch next to her
“Hey, Baby.” She would just give a quick smile before you already made your move
Pushing her hand aside and maneuvering your way into her lap
Cat kinda just sat there and watched you do it
She kinda excepted it because she heard around your patrol squad the day you had
She would just let you have it this time
Once you were all good, you fell asleep and Cat just resumed what she was doing
She let you sleep on her for a little longer than normal
Be happy though!
It’s an accomplishment!
Dina
Tumblr media
Dina actually encourages you to sleep in her lap!
She likes holding you and being warm, especially on a particularly cold day in Jackson
She likes sleeping on your lap also from time to time
But actually prefers you sleeping in hers
She was about as sleep as you were when you walked through the door and joined her
She just laid there and let you climb into her lap and get comfy
“Why, hello there.”
Dina just bid with a smile, hugging you for a moment as you just laid your head on her chest
You both got pretty comfortable and warm
It’s no secret that you both fell asleep pretty quickly
It was a good nap
You both ended up in a pile of limbs after waking up but it’s a good way to wake up!
These are actually Dina’s favorite moments with you tbh
Ellie
Tumblr media
Ellie is smug about you being comfortable around her and sleeping on her
She doesn’t care if your bigger, smaller or taller than her
Throw that shit out the window and sleep on her for God sake!
She was finishing some sketches up in her journal when she heard the door opened
She was sitting on her bed also and just watched as you climbed over to her all quiet
She just smiled and set her journal down
She helped you get comfortable also
“Tired now, are we?”
“Shut up.”
She would probably just laugh and lay back with you on top of her
She will hold her journal up behind your back to finish up but she also sometimes rubs your back
She will run her hand through your hair time and time again just because
Eventually, like Dina, would fall asleep too
She just wakes up and her book fell over on your back and her pencil rolled onto the floor
She probably went back to sleep
And when you wake up, you better pray she woke up also
Because she has a grip of steel and lets say this is not a situation you can get out of easily

Oh, I’m very sorry for before about requesting a different thing, I didn’t know I’m really sorry, I am.
How about 20 “stealing their shirt” with Ellie, Dina and Vi? (I’m not sure if that one is only for Arcane or not)
(it'a okay, lmao and sure! #20 though is stealing their shit, so whatever like items they have but since you said shirt, ima go with shirt! Enjoy!)
Stealing Their Shirt
Ellie
Tumblr media
Ellie doesn’t mind you taking her clothes
She just has many shirts lying around so it’s no surprise when you swoop in and take one or two
It’s probably more than just one or two but she don’t care
She actually likes it very much
She would probably just walk into her little garage and just see ya in her shirt
Note: she is quiet as hell when she comes back
So you didn’t notice her right away
And ya see, Ellie has quite the thing for walking behind ya and hugging you from behind
She likes it the most when you’re wearing her shirt though
She has that dumb smirk on her face 1000%
She’ll find it funny if you jump though but relax when you see it’s her
Just goes “Hello, there” with the widest grin/smirk ever
She will kiss your cheek/neck
Kinda like the her and dina moments before she left
It’s amazing though
Do it more often
Please
For everyone's soul
Dina
Tumblr media
Dina steals your clothes a lot also, keep that in mind
So she doesn’t care when you take hers
Dina doesn’t really notice when one of her shirts goes missing
But when she does…
She knows automatically it was you
I mean, who else would it be except for her beautiful S/o?
Sorta is concerned on what you did with it but on the amount of times she’s walked in on you wearing them
That concern goes away almost immediately
When she does find you wearing it
She is happy inside
Like, man, you look hot
Dina would just stand there for a minute staring at you until you eventually notice her
“Quite the show, huh?”
Dina’s exact words 10/10
She is also smirking like Ellie
She is proud for every second that passes
Will kiss you again and again
Will probably take your hand and spin you real quick for a once over
“Damn, I got a hot fucking partner.”
Don’t be surprised when she says it
It’s true
You are hot
Vi
Tumblr media
Vi is smug as shit
Like damn, you stealing her shirts?!
Okay, damn, do it again please
Vi is smug every time she sees you in it
No matter the shirt
She doesn’t care which, as long as it’s hers
She probably would also be attached to you for however long you are wearing it
Is the one to be kissing you on the neck, cheek and mouth wherever
She is enjoying it, okay?!
She is soaking up every second of it
While she was in prison she never thought she would ever have a girlfriend/partner
So, when she has a hot ass one in her shirt?
Oh, yeah, she’s gonna enjoy it
She will also mostly be hugging you from behind a lot
Just let her
Because she won’t stop dude

Okay but imagine - Tommy and Maria have a daughter (reader obvs) and is shy and quiet while ellie is all outgoing n stuff eeeek they would make such a good couple
CRYBABY (e.w)
Tumblr media
A/n: uhm I love this?! Sorry for being inactive my loves I have so much study to do and m so burnt out phewww. anyway, I hope this was okay thank you soooo much for requesting!
pairing: ellie williams x fem!reader
summary: reader is tommy and maria's daughter and while she had always been on the shyer side, she can't help but fall into a loop upon becoming best friends with the ellie williams. And how on earth is she going to come to terms with the sudden feelings bubbling inside her when she finds ellie has begun to pay more attention to her 'fing' cat.
warnings: mushy fluff, angry love confession, kissing, loser lesbians?, stupid grumpy x sunshine trope (my absolute fave), reader is kinda innocent, slight suggestive themes, angst if you squint, mentions of cat, reader is mentioned to be shorter than ellie, tinsy bit of tommy and maria slander? mentions of bullying, intended lower case, nothing i write is ever proof read.
words: 7,617 (buckle up!)
⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
the princess of jackson. ellie williams could remember the day when she very first met her, the prized possession, the adored and loved. you.
of course, you were both only fourteen then. ellie williams stood with a small scowl on her face, standing parted from joel as he had a heated conversation with tommy, your father. she hadn't even noticed you, too caught up in her own feelings. she needed to get to the fireflies and quickly, she had no time to 'dilly dally' while waiting for tommy miller, she had decided he was nothing but a cowered, unwilling to help.
she only met the man, so naturally such an opinion hadn't stuck with her. but then, oh how she hated his stupid face. rolling her eyes over something stupid he had said, she turned her eyes to his wife, who was standing off near her, though completely engrossed in the conversation between the two older men. And then, her eyes landed on a pretty girl, standing in a woollen jumper that hung from her frame, covering her hands whole. you.
it was that moment, ellie realised, that she had fallen completely head over heels for y/n miller. she didn't know you then, you were just a child and a shy one at that. you stood practically clinging to your mother, hands fiddling with one another as you listened to your father raise his voice, nothing new, it was apparent that tommy miller had anger issues at times.
she merely stared, too embarrassed to so much as part her lips fully, simply turning her nose up. it wasn't until you turned your head that you noticed her impending stare. instantly, your face heated up like a match lit on fire. eyes widening slightly, you whipped your head back around, ignoring the way your hair now covered your face from her view but she could still... sense it, the way your face had turned beat red. if it were anyone else, she would have chuckled, threw her head back and laughed at whoever was embarrassed to make mere eye contact amiss an apocalypse. but she didn't laugh, didn't even smile. instead, her face softened into an expression you were still yet to decipher.
it didn't take long for you and ellie to meet again.
you didn't talk to her before she left, didn't even bid her a hello or a goodbye. she simply stared as you all but cowered behind your mother. your mother introduced you, however, knowing you weren't going to do it yourself. "this is y/n, y/n this is ellie." and you simply nodded as ellie wore a small smile, growing more impatient to leave the town as the seconds scraped by.
and you thought you had gotten away, weaved your way out of making a new friend, you always did hate it when maria pushed you. you were adored in jackson by all the elders, all the adults and yet if there was one thing you couldn't do, it was talk to people your age. let alone a pretty girl like ellie williams.
but when the girl reappeared soon after, your parents were just over the moon about a girl your age living so close, having such a close connection with your family as your uncle practically took her in. you could remember the first day you were told to talk to the girl, you remembered hating every single second of it.
you had to walk all the way from the main hall to her house, and for some reason the fourteen year old girl was given her own house, you weren't sure of, maybe a bad call by your father. nonetheless, you didn't think much of it, too focused on the angry mumbles tumbling from your lips as you puffed your cheeks out, reddened with the cold. you had to return a jacket, a jacket for god sake. you hadn't felt like it when tommy pulled you aside, shoving a green jacket in your hands and telling you to return it to the girl, stating she'd need it in the morning. you simply cringed, stating that your uncle could return it when he was passing home but of course, your parents would never give up a chance for you to communicate with teenagers your age, and so, they shoved you out the main hall door.
you cursed every star and constellation that she had managed to leave it behind. looking back, you weren't even sure why she had been in the hall in the first place. she did so many jobs for the town it was difficult for you to keep track. you almost grew envious of how everyone had come to adore the girl. it wasn't as if they had adored you any less, you simply envied the way she could keep the conversation flowing with the people of jackson, how she stood up tall and didn't have to glance down at her fingers every five seconds, attempting to come up with some form of a response. unlike you, that is.
puffing out another breath, you ignored the white smoke in front of you, painting an image that you had been smoking. it was almost humorous, the thought, y/n miller would have gone near no such thing. you brought a balled fist up, knocking on the door gently. almost instantly, you retracted it back to your side, chomping down on your bottom lip. you didn't know why you were so embarrassed but you could feel your face getting hot already and for the love of god it was the middle of winter in jackson.
you mentally cringed when no one answered the door, knowing you'd have to knock again. what if she had heard it and chose to neglect it? what if you came off much too annoying? what if she opened the door in the middle of knocking? what if she was in the bathroom? your thoughts were cut short by your own actions, knocking on the door once more only this time, not as softly. and when you received no answer this time, the door slowly creaked open.
eyes widening, you turned to look around as if casper the ghost would appear at any given moment. you slowly pushed the door open further, who leaves their front door unlocked in the middle of the night? you made a mental note to remind ellie to lock her doors, you know, if you ever actually gained the confidence to speak to her. swallowing harshly, you peeked your head in from the front door. "ellie?" your voice slightly raspy. "uhm, ellie!" attempting to project your voice just a little louder this time, of course failing in your attempts.
then your eyes caught it. her.
she was sitting at her desk, pen in hand and bushed brown ponytail sitting on her back. you took note of the earphones plugged into her ears. of course she hadn't heard you, you could practically hear her music blaring from where you stood all the way at her door. you had been near ellie at least a thousand times by now, she was always creeping close, her eyes always strained towards your face. you always pretended not to notice the way her eyes would stay fixated on you, the way you completely ignored her presence every single time. not on purpose, obviously, but you knew the minute you were pushed into her bubble, you'd find some way to absolutely humiliate yourself, you swore yourself against that, embarrassing yourself in front of ellie williams. and yet here you stood, awkwardly holding her jacket in your hands as you slowly entered the room. her house wasn't massive but it was very homely. shutting the door with your back facing it, you called out her name again in hopes of her somehow hearing you despite the loud music plugged into her ears.
you bit down on your bottom lip, moving closer to her. you reached your hand out, wincing knowing you were going to scare the girl however you truly did have no other choice. you softly patted her shoulder causing her to completely whip around.
you flinched as her book went tumbling to the ground, a yelp falling from her own lips as you took a step back, eyes screwed shut momentarily.
"y/n, jesus christ!" pressing a hand to her chest as she ripped the earphones out from her ears, heart thumping quickly.
despite no one scaring you, your own heart was thumping swiftly against your chest. "sorry, sorry!" instantly feeling guilt washing over you.
"you're okay." the girl chuckled, pushing the ear buds onto the table. "just scared me is all." puffing out a breath to show she was merely breathless from the scare.
"sorry, i didn't mean to." instantly falling to your knees to pick up the book that had fallen off the table. "your door was open and you had earphones on — i called your name but you didn't hear me- did you draw these?" suddenly, your breath caught in your throat, rambling being cut off as you peered down at the sketchbook in your hands, filled with mystical drawings. there was a dragon splayed across two pages along with gargoyles hiding at the corner of the pages, many other creatures you didn't even know the name to on the pages.
"uh- yeah." sitting back in her seat. her eyes were glued to yours, watching your face as your own eyes scanned across the page, face shifted into complete awe at her amazing art work. you stayed silent, eyes blown wide in complete shock. how could someone so young be so... talented?
raking your eyes over the drawing of the dragon once more, you tried to ignore how well the creature had been captured onto the single page, head tilting as you viewed such shading you thought only artists could do. "they're... amazing." breathing out as you looked back up, handing her the book as you suddenly realised you had been overstepping.
"thanks." she chuckled, taking the book out of your hands. with your eyes glued to the ground, you let her take it from your soft grasp. but when her fingers brushed against yours, you tried all that you could to not look up at her with pink flushed cheeks, simply ignoring it as it seemed she had. she placed the book back down on the table, turning in her chair to view you once more. "uhm... did you need something..?" she hadn't said it in a rude way but it was enough to send you back to reality.
"oh!" looking down at the green jacket in your hands. "uhm, maria and tommy said to give you this, you left it in the main hall." it was simply easier to call your parents by their first name in front of ellie, you didn't wish to embarrass yourself by calling them mama or daddy in front of her, it was beyond shameful so you simply stuck to their names, shooting your hand out to hand her the jacket.
"oh, thank you." grasping the jacket but this time her fingers never grazed yours. "probably gonna need this in the morning. last thing i need is to be going on patrol with no jacket." laughing softly at the very unfunny comment before tossing the jacket to the side.
your head perked up. "you're on patrol?" confused brows furrowing together.
"yeah." she squirmed in her seat. "why, something wrong with that?"
"no, no." you quickly defended, shaking your head. "it's just... you're a little young for that, no?"
she shrugged her shoulders. "nothin' i haven't seen before." you nodded your head at that, a little unsure but nonetheless, you were not one to interject. if she said she knew what she was doing, she probably did, after all she had spent more time on the road than anyone else in jackson. "hey, uh, the storm has gotten pretty bad out there." you turned your head in confusion, eyes peering out the window. she wasn't lying. snow now tumbled down outside at a much quicker pace than the small flakes that had fallen on you on your way there. "why don't you stay here for the night, probably too dangerous to walk back now anyway."
you turned your head back slowly, mind registering the words ellie had just spoken. you had never had a sleepover before, and you were sure that this wasn't a sleepover at all, but your mind couldn't help but jump in ecstasy. "uhm..." your parents wouldn't even notice, if anything, they'd be over the moon at the thought of their daughter spending time with someone her age. "are you sure you don't mind?" shuffling your feet against the wooden floor, hopping from foot to foot.
she almost laughed at you, blinking at you. " 'course not." as if you were being absurd. she stood from the seat, pushing herself towards her drawers. "you can wear some of my clothes for the night but they uh, might be a little big." she eyed you, noticing that you were shorter than her, not by a great amount but enough to make her clothes baggy on you.
"i don't mind." you smiled gently at the girl who was already grinning at you. "thank you, ellie." you weren't used to people your age being nice to you. usually, they were beyond rude which was more or less why you had put yourself in a shell. you knew you'd get nowhere in making friends so what was the point? your parents obviously thought very differently. so it was safe to say that ellie williams, a rather scary teenager, being quite kind to you was a rather foreign feeling, something inside you screaming at you, stating that she was playing some kind of a joke on you, it was a game, all a game. but the way her eyes softened when she looked at you had your knees weak and the wall you had built up slowly chipping.
she shrugged, tossing a long white shirt your way. "that's what friends are for."
you caught the t shirt. friends? the ellie williams wanted to be your friend?
that was the first sleepover of many. ellie williams was an exact opposite of you, that was the exact reason why you were the perfect match. everyone in jackson adored you as if you were their own daughter but despite that, you were rather reserved. you didn't have many friends your age, dina and jesse maybe, but you weren't close with them, not like you were with ellie. she was outgoing, bubbly, everyone adored her just as much, the only difference was that she was much more popular with the people your age. she had gone through so many girls it baffled you and now she was on the next, cat was her name, and ellie seemed infatuated by her.
but despite her going through her fair share of girls she always told you one thing, as corny as it was that you were 'her main girl' always and forever, you couldn't deny that the words had your cheeks heating up an embarrassing amount.
you were never good with people your age, not good at keeping conversations or starting them. you always had a problem with opening your mouth around them but with ellie, it was the exact opposite. she was so easy to talk to, a complete breath of fresh air in a world you never imagined yourself being happy in.
you did everything together, went everywhere together, you were practically attached to her hip by the time you were both nineteen. like now, as you stood with your hands on her shoulders in attempts to keep your balance. she was leaned down on one knee, the other propped up with your left foot placed on it, tying your shoelaces with ease. "should we check the east estate?" you questioned, fumbling with the fabric of your gloves. this wasn't a new thing, it seemed as though you always tracked around with your shoe laces untied, ellie constantly commented on it, stating that you'd someday fall and break your head open. you always rolled your eyes and called her dramatic until you actually fell over and then she'd bend down and tie them for you, despite your angry protests. today wasn't like no other, the white snow dusting across the knees of your jeans served as proof.
"jesse and dina did yesterday." she shrugged. you had been designated patrol partners upon the day of your very first patrol, you begged your parents to assign you together. they tried to get you out there, talking to other people and making new friends but after too many nights of you returning with tear stained cheeks, they decided that ellie was enough. her face suddenly contorted. "yeah we should probably check." patting the back of your calf to let you know you could bring your foot back down.
the boot on your foot crunched against the snow while you looked up at the girl as she stood, taller than you, she had grown a great deal since she was fourteen. "thought you said jesse and dina checked yesterday." following her in the snow, she knew the tracks much better than you did.
she gave you the smallest of smirks that you couldn't understand. you were so innocent, she thought, then again it was hard to be educated in a world alike their own. "they weren't doing anything except for getting in eachother's pants, sweetheart." that pretty nickname that always had your cheeks set aflame.
a mix between the pet name and the words that had fallen from her mouth as if it were nothing had your whole face a beat red. "oh." fell from your lips while the girl chuckled at you, fixing the straps of her backpack. you were thankful to be standing behind her now for you were sure that if she had been at eye level with you, she would have seen your flustered face and that was simply something you didn't need her seeing.
the east estate came into the clearing quicker than you thought, you had also finished much earlier than intended so there was nothing to do other than raid the nearby houses. "so..." you trailed off, attempting to make conversation from behind ellie, her gun in her hands as she peeked around a corner, nervous as your nonchalant figure stood behind her, gun hidden somewhere in your bag. you really were too clumsy for this job. "how are you and cat." the name rolling off in a way you didn't like, it made you almost disgusted in yourself.
"fine." she opened the last bathroom door, shoulders relaxing as she began rooting through the shelves. you made yourself busy in the bedroom that was attached to it, you couldn't imagine living in a house so big. "I told you we're not serious."
"wouldn't matter if you were." you mumbled so lowly that the girl didn't even hear it, she had just assumed that you dropped the subject altogether. the silence was swiftly cut off when you opened a box, finding a chess box inside. "oh my god!"
ellie came out from the bathroom swiftly, her gun clutched tightly between her fingers. you hadn't even noticed her demeanour slouching as she realised you were excited, not scared. "hey, weren't you lookin' for one of those?" nodding at the box of chess inside your hands.
"yeah, it's so cool!" it was a glass set, the one that you had in fact, been searching for. you adored chess, it was a way to ease the mind but you had never come across a glass set, as badly as you had wanted it. "wonder if the people who used to live here liked chess." you placed it down on the bed and moved around to the other side of the room, pulling open one of the drawers.
"what are you doin'?" leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom, you turned to her baffled, confused as to what you were doing wrong. "I mean, why aren't you packin' it?"
you shrugged your shoulders, glancing back at the set. "no room in my bag." and you were travelling on feet today meaning you didn't have your horse to carry an extra bag. your own bag had been filled to the brim with both food and some medical supplies along with your gun lost somewhere, you didn't have room for a stupid chess board. besides, you were sure that if your mother saw you bring it in through the gates she would wear a disapproving face and tell you that you shouldn't be looking out for things like that, you were out there to get stuff for the town, there was no need to be so selfish.
ellies brows were furrowed. "but you wanted it." as unfair as the situation was, you simply rolled your shoulders with a small laugh.
"doesn't matter." you stated, closing the drawers. "it's not that important anyway." ellie loved tommy and maria, truly, but she couldn't deny that they were more leader than they were parents at times. they often belittled you, stated that your interests didn't matter, that you were truly just a spec in the massive town but ellie knew they had to realise you were much more than a member of jackson, you were their daughter. "should we go back now?"
ellie took a glance out the window, it was beginning to get dark. "one more house, then we can go back." to which you nodded her head and exited the bedroom. the bedroom in the next home was an exact replica except for the different sheets and the wallpaper, along with the fact that the vanity was from a different store. this made you realise that the houses were probably already furnished before they were sold. "oh, look." ellie spoke as you looked up from the magazines you were flicking through. "cat loves cats, ironic." she laughed and stare down at the necklace in her hands, a black cat pendant on the silver chain.
you moved closer towards it, it truly was pretty. it reminded you of how ellie had given you a necklace once of a pink gem heart, you still wore it around your neck every day. you ignored the rising bile in your stomach and swallowed harshly, unsure if why you suddenly felt a little hot. "why don't you bring it back to her?" looking at it over ellie's shoulder. the sudden thought of ellie standing behind cat, clasping the back of the necklace together with a smile on her face caused your head to spin, and not in a way that you liked. you couldn't understand why you were feeling like this, perhaps it was because ellie williams was your best friend and the thought of her leaving, picking someone over you, was truly bone crushing. or perhaps it was because you never really had a best friend before and you didn't wish to loose the one you had made.
"nah." plopping it back down on the table. you furrowed your brows at her, if she knew that she would like it, why not gift it to her? when ellie turned, she noticed the confused look on your face. "I told you, it's not like that." and suddenly you were hyper aware of the necklace around your neck that she had gifted you, surely you weren't like that either. then again, it didn't really count because it was for your birthday and as your best friend, she probably just felt the need to buy something for you. maybe it was pity, maybe it was guilt, you just had to accept the fact that ellie williams in no way felt that way for you. then again you didn't either, right? so what was the big deal. perhaps you were just jealous that you thought your best friend had picked a new friend, you decided to ignore it, swallowing down the annoyed feeling. "you okay?"
you swallowed, pushing your feet around. "are we ready to go back?" dodging the question completely, it was easier to do this than lie, you didn't like to lie, especially to ellie. lying that you were okay was one thing but you knew ellie, she wouldn't leave it there, she'd make you promise and you don't break promises.
ellie knew better than to start something here, now, so she simply nodded her head, pursing her lips as she picked her bag up off the ground. "yeah, lets go." you nodded your own head, making sure to fix the straps of your bag before leaving the house you were in, ready to walk back to jackson with snow crunching beneath your feet.
the walk home was quiet, not an uncomfortable silence but instead one that hazily loomed over you both, one that you were well used to by now. "so..." kicking the snow underneath her feet, ellie cleared her throat. "your mom talk to you about that party tonight?" it was a gathering in the main hall, one with alcohol so naturally ellie's brain wired itself into believing it was a party, she had convinced herself and everyone around her.
you knew better than to contradict what she was saying and instead nodded your head. "mhm." humming. "you going?" you turned to face her, nose upturned. you were always forced into these events, whether you wished to be there or not. usually, the reasoning behind this was to 'get you out there' was what your parents told you, anyway, stating that you 'needed people in your life other than ellie' you begged to differ, ellie williams was enough for you.
"probably." kicking the snow underneath her feet, you could hear something in her bag rattling, you shrugged it off for cans hitting against one another or something hollow holding small continents that didn't take up enough space. "can't leave you all alone now, can I?" and despite the fact she spoke with a grin, you nodded your head, knowing that the only reason she was actually going was, in fact, to make sure that you weren't alone. "why're you so silent today?" though you had only begun your silent spell the minute the name 'cat' was uttered from the girls lips.
you shrugged your shoulders. "jus' tired." but you couldn't wear the image from your head. cat turned around as ellie tied the necklace to her neck from behind. cat wasn't a girly girl, though, unlike you, no, she never wore skirts, had little to no jewelry and was rather tough, you supposed that had nothing to do with being girly but everything to do with your insecurities. you were shy, small in tough situations, ellie was sort of a protector, you supposed you were insecure in knowing that ellie didn't have that weight on her shoulders when she was with cat, she didn't have to worry about 'taking care of her' not in the way she did with you, you couldn't deny the guilt that begun to sprout.
"y/n." ellie chuckled, slightly tugging on the bottom stand of your hair to get your attention, you pushed your head away, gazing up at her, you hadn't noticed the way your eyes ever so slightly had begun to gloss over. god, you thought, this was beyond embarrassing. or at least, it should have been. your face should have been red raw and you shouldn't have been able to form a coherent sentence, but it was ellie you were talking to, she knew you inside out, better than you knew yourself, there truly was nothing to be embarrassed about. "get out of your head." and she knew your overthinking like the back of her hand, she knew that once set off, you fell down a not too sweet rabit hole and despite the fact she had absolutely no idea what you were thinking about, she could tell that expression from anywhere, in desperate need of an escape, she provided you with one.
"sorry." you spoke lowly, eyes gazing down at the wet patches on the knee of your jeans, from when you had fallen in the snow beforehand.
"nothin' to be sorry for, angel." head turned upwards as the gates of jackson came into her view. "i'm gonna tell joel to come too, you think your mom and dad need anything?"
you assumed joel would be coming anyway, seeing as tommy was his brother, but you hadn't known for sure, joel wasn't exactly the most reliable man you'd ever met, despite the fact he was your uncle. "doubt it but you should tell him to ask daddy anyway."
you both entered the gates of jackson, smiling to jesse as he took your bag off your back without a word. "will do." ellie turned, a smile slowly curving up on her lips, but before you could bask in her angelic features, she was stumbling backwards, hands pushing out to hold herself and... cat up. cat had thrown her arms around her as if she were a long distant girlfriend, meeting her in an airport, ellie's own hands came down to her waist to stablize her, you suddenly felt the bile rise to your throat, you were going to be sick.
as your breathing turned shallow, your mouth dry and cold, you ignored the way your eyes suddenly stung and simply turned around, you couldn't face it, the sight of them had become too much. you could vaguely remember hearing your name being called from behind you, though you couldn't remember if it were jesse, ellie or even cat who had called it, one task at hand, getting home.
luckily for you, your house wasn't mere minutes from the gates so you arrived home rather briskly. the only downside to this, your eyes had become red rimmed and it had not yet wore off, your mother also stood inside the kitchen with a woman named donna, a lovely woman who was helping out with tonight's gathering. "hey sweet-" she cut herself off, noticing the small tears in your eyes. "what happened?"
you turned, embarrassment filling your face. "I- uhm, cut my knee really bad, gonna go up to the bathroom and clean it." you were a bad liar, a terrible one even but what else was there to say? you couldn't even decipher why you were sad yourself. you couldn't possibly be... jealous? could you? no. not a chance.
"show me a look." she almost demanded, voice still as soft as honey.
"no- no, it's okay." already halfway up the stairs as your concerned mother stood next to a confused donna. "it doesn't even hurt that bad, i'll be down soon." and without waiting for another word, you had pushed yourself right up the stairs and into the bathroom, locking the door.
for as long as you could remember, your bathroom had been a solitude for you, a safe haven. sure, your bedroom had a lock but it wasn't used unless emergencies so you knew better than to use it every time you were upset, which proved to be often as you grew up and realised just how utterly sensitive you were. you sat on the bathroom floor, breathing irregular but you squeezed your eyes shut, pushing your head onto your knees and wondered, what was all of this even from? surely, you weren't that upset just because you thought you weren't ellie's favourite anymore.
whatever the case, all you knew was that the tears didn't stop until later that night when you sat in front of your vanity, applying little blotches of make up.
you weren't typically a make up girl but you knew you had to do something to get rid of these stupid tear stains on your cheeks. finally, you had fixed your face enough to know that no one, not even ellie williams herself, would be able to spot how hard you cried that morning. then, you slipped on your dress that your mother had picked out for you.
(the dress bc i want you guys to be able to see the idea i had with this)
Tumblr media
and in less than a half hour, you stood inside the main hall, a bowl of treats in your hands as you went around to the younger ones, passing them out, also passing them out to the adults who stared a little too long, making their longing and shame both very apparent. you didn't mind however, smiling sweetly before offering them one to which they greedily dug in.
you spoke to a lot of people that night, stopped to conversate with some that you wouldn't have if you were under different circumstances. you could feel eyes piercing into you, the ones belonging to giddy teenagers who, for some reason, found enjoyment in what you could only guess was talking about you. you didn't much care for the teenagers of jackson, sure, you adored ellie williams with your whole heart and you found comfort in dina and jesse, an on and off couple from the minute you met them but other than that, you didn't really have friends. they made you feel different, a kind of different that made you question if there were something wrong with you, there had to be, if so many people truly could not get along with you. you talked to the elderlies, to the adults, even to the kids, but the teenagers... the teenagers you steered clear of.
you spoke to dina and jesse earlier that night, however, they had run off the minute the alcohol that they shouldn't have been drinking hit their system and suddenly they had disappeared into thin air. your eyes searched the room as you bit on your thumb, well aware of the teenage laughter behind you, aimed directly at you.
where was ellie? it was approaching eleven o clock, some people had headed home, the couples too lazy to wait any longer, the parents who's kids needed their rest, some of the elderlies who needed sleep just as much as the kids. ellie said she'd be here, the thought of her missing it because she and cat had some sort of run in made your stomach sick and yet it was the only thing you could think of, it had to be the only excuse. i mean, cat was no where to be spotted either.
you sat at one of the tables, chin resting in the palm of your hand, your shoes had begun to get uncomfortable and your hair seemed too tight, you were sure a little mascara had smudged beneath your eyes too, despite the many times you rubbed it away with your finger. ellie wasn't one to not stick to what she told you, she wasn't one to stand you up either. but you knew how it was, cat was hers and she was cats despite the many times she told you they weren't, you knew that, so why were you disappointed to think she chose her over you?
the thought of ellie hugging her tight, kissing her lips, even down her neck, you could feel your stomach turning. you wanted nothing more than to get the image out of your head. to your luck, or maybe not, you were brought back to life with a tap on your shoulder. "y/n, hey!" that was a voice you recognised all too well, your stomach turned even more than it already had. was there anything that was going good for you that night?
you turned around, standing up as if you were nervous to be in the girls presence, she giggled at this. "hi, kady." kady was a pretty girl, one that was beyond popular, for reasons you were still unsure about. sure, she was pretty, she had a large circle of friends but to this day you couldn't decipher why people liked her. she was a cruel teenage girl, one who invalidated others to make her own head bigger than it already was, truly, it was a surprise to you that she could even fit in the door.
upon the years that you grew up in jackson, kady had always treated you as though you were someone below her. and maybe you were, you had grown used to the way she acted around you, her unacceptable behaviour towards you had grown seemingly acceptable, simply because you wouldn't stand up for yourself. "having fun by yourself?" she had a grin on her face, one that would have looked polite and sweet but truly was nothing other than conceited. "oh gosh, i don't mean it like that." quick to correct herself noticing the way your face had fallen. "I just mean... you know, i thought ellie would spare some time away from cat for the evening but i guess not."
you simply shrugged your shoulders, not wishing to buy into this any longer. "she's probably just busy." mumbling. you always felt yourself become smaller around kady, as if you were truly a child once more and she was picking on you once more, causing you to go running home to your mother with dewey eyes, they brushed it off with you being too sensitive.
"probably with cat, if you know what i mean." wriggling her brows at you suggestively, you simply bit your lip and turned away. "i was kinda surprised when they got together, i always thought you guys would get together."
your head snapped towards her at that statement. "what?" suddenly your breath grew short. "why would you think that?" you had a secret, one no one could know, not even the pages of your diary, one you had begun to accept that very morning, now, however, you wished nothing more than to flush it down the drain.
"come on, y/n, we're not blind." rolling her eyes as she crossed her arms over her black tank top. "you follow her around like a lost puppy, it's pathetic." your gut twisted, her words forming a knot in your stomach. "i mean, it's probably for the best she's with cat, i don't think anyone would be able to stick a relationship with you."
you looked up, ignoring the way your eyes annoyingly began to sting. you hated how sensitive you were, you were a crybaby, an annoying, pathetic crybaby. "kady can you just... leave me alone." your voice broke, as did your heart, shattering right on the floor in that very second.
"god, do you hear yourself?" she was laughing, as if any of this was truly funny. "face it, y/n, you're never going to be anything other than the irritating little girl you were as a kid, you're never going to change, you're never going to get someone like ellie williams to love someone like you." what did that even mean? your mind spun, your head felt queasy, your eyes hazy.
you didn't say anything else, you weren't going to entertain it, you pushed past a laughing kady, practically throwing her head back at the state you were in now.
you pushed past everyone else, ignoring the strange looks you got at the sight of your tear stained cheeks, ignoring the way your throat begun to hurt an abnormal amount. only one thing in your mind.
"you're never going to get someone like ellie williams to love someone like you."
it rung through your mind causing your whole body to shift, you wanted to go home, get to bed and cry. you wanted to cry your heart out and ignore ellie williams for eternity. why? because you knew that you had already fallen deeply in love with her and there wasn't even the slightest possibility she felt some way remotely alike that to you. you blamed yourself, not her, but that didn't mean you could ever face her again.
just as you though the night couldn't possibly get any worse, already drowned in the heavy rain pattering against your skin, fat tears rolling down your cheeks. you walked directly into something, or more specifically, someone. arms instantly reached out, stabilizing you both. you turned your nose up, just about to apologise for your rudeness before you caught sight of who it was. "y/n, what-" you cut the brunette girl off before she could speak anymore.
"where were you?!" your hands pushed her back and ellie stumbled backwards, stunned at your actions with wide eyes and mouth fallen agape. "you told me you'd be there and you weren't! you told me you would!" she couldn't understand why you were so mad and why your face had been covered in mascara and ugly fat tears that clouded your pretty eyes.
"y/n, i'm sorry i didn't think it would be a big deal-" attempting to walk closer to you once more. "I was with cat and-"
"of course you were!" taking your own steps back, ellie's brows furrowed in confusion. "you're always with s-stupid cat!"
ellie couldn't understand where all of this was coming from, she thought you liked cat for you had gushed over how sweet she was a number of times before she and ellie were ever even a thing. "y/n, i'm sorry!" she pushed herself towards you but before you could get away, her hands were falling on your forearms. "i should have been there, i know, i'm sorry, i messed up."
you shook your head, ignoring the way your tears had mixed with the heavy rain pattering against your frail skin. "y-you picked her." your words just above a whisper and due to the heavy rain, ellie had hardly heard you.
"what?" sudden confusion washing over her. ellie was a girl of her word but it wasn't rare for her to not show up to things, she always apologised profusely and did everything in her power to make it up to you, what was rare, however, was this reaction sprouted from you.
you turned your head, sighing heavily and squeezing your eyes shut, you wanted to be at home, in bed. "it doesn't matter." hands moving to wipe your face, ignoring the way ellie's own hands fell from your arms, causing instant warmth to be retracted. "i'm sorry, i'm sorry." suddenly, you felt as though it were all your fault.
ellie was your best friend, albeit, just a friend. she owed you nothing. and you had no place to be this angry with her for being with someone when you were nothing. "what- no, no, why are you sorry?" you shook your head once more, taking a step back. she wasn't having it. she was in front of you again in an instant, her hands coming down to take in your face.
silence washed over you both, the only sound to be heard was the constant patter of rain against the ground beneath you and your breaths that had grown slightly heavier now that you were so close. her warm hands completely contradicted your freezing face, a beautiful contrast as they slowly caressed your pretty skin. "talk to me, angel." her words a soft lull. "don't shut me out."
your mind was racing as ellie williams stood exactly where you wanted her, where you needed her. but would you risk everything you've ever created with her for something she may not even have thought about before? no, you told yourself, you couldn't. but the louder, the stronger, part of yourself screamed at you to. "i can't say it." you opted for, mouth scrunching in distaste as your voice wobbled like a child. an absolute crybaby.
ellie shook her head, auburn locks shaking with it. "yes you can, baby." thumbs moving against your skin. "say the words and i'll make the sentences if i have to just... say something." and the way her own voice cracked, the way her desperate walls began to fall down, suddenly, you wondered if she already knew. she had to have. did she think the same way you did? had she already had this conversation a thousand times in her head like you did? did she imagine this very scenario a million times over just alike you did?
suddenly, your head felt light.
suddenly, your breath slowed.
suddenly, your thoughts fell right out of your mind.
suddenly, her lips looked so sweet.
suddenly, your own her on hers.
you pushed your head upwards, your lips crashing into her own. her hands instantly fell to your waist, holding you. your own hands were brought up, sure the cloth of your sleeves were still stuck to your hands but you didn't care, for you would have much rathered to hold her face no matter the situation. slowly, the tears vanished as your lips moved against her own, you melted into her, in a way that you had never melted before, you were a puddle. ellie took over in an instant, her face pushed against yours, lips moving hasitly as if she was scared you'd disappear.
however, you eventually pulled away for air, your lungs squeezed together as you panted against her lips, one hand holding her cheek, the other at the back of her neck. you looked up at her with your pretty doe eyes, a smile soon formed on her lips as they curved upwards. "just so you know." she panted, too out of breath. "i'd choose you." lips pushing against yours for a gentle peck. "a million times over."
that night was filled with a thousand more kisses and a gift from ellie, surprisingly enough. a certain glass chess set sitting a top her bed as she grinned at you. it was like that. not with cat but with you.

reader pronouns: she/her
“Not everything can be solved with a knife,” Maggie said, watching you throw gear into your pack.
You stopped and looked at her. “I know. That’s why I always carry two,” you said, pulling both of your knives from their sheaths at your hips.
Daryl, standing in the doorway and watching the discussion, couldn’t stifle a gruff laugh in time despite the tense atmosphere. Maggie rounded on him, looking exasperated. “Daryl,” she pleaded, in hopes he could perhaps stop you.
He straightened up. “She needs to do this Maggie. But I’ll go with. Ya think I’d let her go off alone? Nah. Despite the two knives…” he said, one corner of his mouth twitching up.

Rosita leaned on the fence beside Carol. They were watching Daryl try to teach you to ride his motorcycle. You were absolutely glowing, laughing at something he’d said, and Daryl had a please and practically sparkling look on his face as he watched you give in to the moment.
“Why the hell aren’t those two together? I mean, honestly, can someone tell me?”
Carol shook her head, also watching the jovial scene. “He’s unsure. And she’s a bit shy… I think that’s all it amounts to.”
Rosita swore under her breath in Spanish. “I’m about to start playing matchmaker. This is going on too long.”
Carol laughed and glanced at her. “I’m in! When do we start the scheming?”
Rosita looked pleased and laughed. “As soon as possible… Otherwise I’m going to start yelling at them in Español to get together just to relieve some of this frustration.”
“We can’t have that! I’ll steal a bottle of wine from the pantry and we can start tonight,” Carol laughed.  Prompt: “Can someone tell me?”

breathtaking pt2 (Finnick Odair)
summary; you thought that you were going to go into the arena without ever meeting your soulmate. little did you know, he's been next to you the whole time.
warnings; swearing, gore, death mention
wc; 2.7k
part one.
There’s hope that you’ll make it out of this alive, after all.
While you and Finnick were discovering you were soulmates, the Capitol anthem was playing its last few notes, when they began to shut off the cameras. And further, the lights that lit up the stage, in a final attempt to cut you off from the outside world, and the audience that sat feet away.
They were entirely too late.
It was pitch black on the stage, causing confusion and minor chaos as all twenty-four of you struggled to make it to the elevators. You lost your district partner in the mess, you think he let go of your hand on purpose to try and make it out of the crowd faster. Which you would be mad about, if it weren’t for Finnick holding onto you tightly, guiding both you and Mags to the elevator, where Johanna managed to slip in just before the doors shut.
Inside, Finnick didn’t waste any time, grabbing your shoulders to tell you that he’d find you inside of the arena. If he didn’t, then you’d need to find him. There was a bigger alliance, and you’d be safer if you joined it. He didn’t have time to tell you who exactly was in it, before the elevator doors opened and he left with Mags.
You’ve been thinking about it since.
Finnick cares that you’re his soulmate, enough to the point where he wants to protect you inside of the arena. It wouldn’t be such a heinous idea, if it weren’t for the fact that you thought that Finnick was already taken, especially with that poem he did during his interview. Unless, it was meant for his soulmate, who he knew was watching at that moment, but unaware that it was him.
As for a bigger alliance, you have no clue what that means. You spent all three training days trying to figure out who was going to ally with who. The only alliance you managed to figure out was the most obvious one: the careers. As for everyone else, they’re some gigantic mystery.
If you had to guess now, you’d say that Johanna, Blight, Finnick and Mags are together. Which is a regular sized alliance, it’s not big by any means. You’re not entirely sure who else would be inclined to join something like that. Johanna and Finnick are intense people to be around, inside of an arena, it’s got to be worse.
At that rate, you’d say Katniss and Peeta, but they were entirely uninterested in Finnick and Johanna the whole week. You can’t see them all deciding to survive together in the arena. Unless, that’s what they want you to think, because they’re all similar in some way.
Still, that’s not necessarily a bigger alliance. That still falls under the career category, which means there are more people. You couldn’t even guess who they are, if you wanted to.
It doesn’t matter, you’ll be finding out in a few minutes anyway.
You fix the wetsuit on your body, straightening it to feel more comfortable. When you’re done, you pull your hair out of your face, knowing that it’ll give you a clearer sight above. You’re really hoping that it’s not going to be anything too extreme. You don’t want the desert, but you don’t want a frozen tundra, either. And you sure as hell don’t want the same nightmare arena that Haymitch lived through.
“It’s time.” Your stylist tells you.
You turn towards the cylinder that’ll raise you to the surface, stepping onto the metal plate. You take a few deep breaths to calm the anxiety that’s beginning to rise in your stomach. You did this one, which means that you’ll be able to do it again. You can do this.
The glass door slowly slides shut, sealing you inside of the tube. You turn away from your stylist to face the wall, and then close your eyes when you begin to get lifted.
A warm breeze washes over your skin, telling you to open your eyes to see where they’ve placed you this year. When you do, you’re met with a white light, blinding you instantly. You spend several vital seconds blinking away the sun.
“Ladies and gentlemen, let the Seventy-Fifth Hunger Games begin!”
A tight pain strikes your chest when you realize what you’re in the middle of. You slap both of your hands over your mouth, taking half a step backward, when you realize that you can’t go any further without accidentally killing yourself. You’re completely surrounded by beautiful blue water, before it would be grey.
You look over your shoulder, and you let out a breath of relief when you see a beach, and beyond that, a dense forest. No, not a forest. It’s much too lush and crowded to be just that, and the trees are too tall to compare to anything from home. The higher the branch, the bigger the leaves. That’s a jungle. A vibrant and healthy green jungle.
You turn back to face the golden cornucopia, and the island it sits on. From what you can tell, there’s twelve spokes coming out of the island, which means two tributes toa  wedge. All you do is glance to your right, and you’re met with the girl from Six, who’s hugging herself right now, bony hands pulling her shoulders inward.
What are the chances she’s a part of the alliance? Does she know that you joined last night? No, how could she? There was no way to communicate after the interviews. If she’s not, will she pull herself together long enough to come and attack you as soon as the gong sounds? If it came down to it, you’d be able to kill her, considering she’s barely on her feet.
You angle yourself away from her and toward the spoke, not willing to even take the chance that she’s on your side.
You can’t imagine how Finnick must be feeling at this moment. He’s got to be ecstatic over the fact that he’s got the advantage this year. He’ll have no issue cutting through the waves. While you’re going to struggle to get to the spoke without drowning.
Fortunately, you know how to swim, you’re just rusty. It’ll all come back to you once you’re in the water, you just need to have a little hope. Although, the more you stare into the blue, you’re not sure if you can even bring yourself to get inside. Who knows how deep it goes beneath you?
The gong sounds, and you don’t move from the metal plate because of the paralyzing fear that’s telling you the water is too dangerous to get in. You watch as Six girl jumps into the water without hesitating, splashing around in the water until she gains momentum, heading to the spoke on her side.
When you look up, you’re met with the sight of a few other victors who also don’t move from their plates.
Well, if Six girl hasn’t died yet, that means you won’t either. You suck in a deep breath of air before you dive into the water. You’re pleasantly surprised that the water’s warm, but it’s salty. The moment it hits your eyes, you can’t see straight anymore, and you rely of blind faith to get you to the rocks.
You know you’re pointed in the right direction, so you do your best with swimming that way. You know you’ve got to look ridiculous, but there’s got to be other victors that are embarrassing themselves more. You’re sure there’s a good number of them that don’t even know how to. You’re one of the lucky few that got taught in Five when you were young.
It feels like you’re in the water forever, until your hand hits the rock. You pull yourself out of the water, wiping at your eyes to get the saltiness away. You cough out the taste, face twisted at how gross it is.
You get to your feet, eyes searching the open cornucopia mouth. All you can see is Katniss, a bow in her hand, digging through a pile of golden weapons. There’s got to be a knife in that pile with your name on it. That would be a good start to the Games, if you had something to defend yourself with.
As if Katniss is reading your thoughts as they come through, her head jerks up. An arrow is on her bow in the time it takes you to blink. You let out a panicked noise, covering your head as you drop to the rock to avoid being pierced. You can hear the whistle of the arrow flying over you.
“Fuck.” You murmur, daring to look up to see if she’s got another arrow for you.
She’s gone, though. And so is the theory that she’s part of the alliance that Finnick was talking about. What are the chances that Finnick was bluffing to you about that alliance to make you feel better about joining him? Did he really think you had anyone else to join?
Your chances at getting that knife are gone, the careers will be at that cornucopia in a matter of seconds, now. You get off your stomach and book it down the rocks, before careful not to trip on the way to the beach. You need to find Finnick. You’re completely weaponless, and there’s safety in numbers, usually.
Your shoe sinks into the sand, you stumble for a few steps before you catch your footing. Everything in you is screaming to run into the jungle, because you know that you’ll be hidden from the victors that specialize in long-range weapons. If you stay here, it’ll be easier to pick you out to kill.
You don’t move though, hesitating like you did on the metal plate, watching and waiting. You’re not even sure what for. You jerk away from the spoke when you see the careers picking through the weapons on the ground, but you don’t move from where your feet are planted in the sand.
That’s when you see them, three victors running into the jungle, a fourth one with grey hair being carried. The infamous trident that got him his win in his hand.
You start running down the beach, arms pumping at your sides as you take short and quick breaths. You need to catch up to them before they get lost in the jungle. You need to be with Finnick if you plan on making it out of this alive.
You cross five spokes in the matter of two minutes, which you're sure will be some record. You swing yourself around the same tree that you saw them pass by, putting you on the right track. The adrenaline that you had used up until this point is dissipating the further you run up the hill, sucking all of the energy from your body.
It’s too hot to be going at this rate, it would be smarter to pace yourself. Especially with how badly you’re sweating, you don’t even know where the nearest fresh water source is—and that’s assuming the arena has one.
The good news is that the path that Finnick is taking becomes clearer the further you go. The vegetation is harshly cut in odd ways, which means they must be swinging at it to make it easier to get through. If they’re traveling this quickly, that means you have to, too.
You’re not sure how long you’re running for, or why you’re still so far behind that you can’t even see them a little. It gets bad enough to the point that you begin to doubt that you’re even following the right path. What are the chances that someone else picked up a trident and you’re ignorantly following them?
You swear you saw Mags—
A sharp pain slices through your cheekbone, your head whips to the left, following the momentum of the weapon. You twist, tripping over your ankles as you fall to your knees, one hand cupping the fresh wound, and the other catches you from falling any further down the hill.
“Stop!” A familiar voice shouts, “Katniss—don’t!”
“Why?”
You’ve done it this time. Katniss already wants to kill you, and you’ve just managed to chase her a whole mile into the jungle without even knowing. What are the chances you can explain this and get away with it?
You turn to see who’s with her, and you’re relieved to see that you’ve been following the right people, after all. Finnick’s coming down the hill, curls bouncing with every step. “It’s just (Y/n), she’s our ally.”
“Ally?” Katniss echoes, she doesn’t look very happy.
“Yes.” Finnick doesn’t seem affected by her tone.
He stops in front of you, offering his hand. There’s a small smile on his face, pleased that you managed to find him. You take it, allowing him to pull you to your feet. He gently moves your hand away from your cheek so he can get a look at it for himself, thumb rubbing underneath it.
“It’s not deep, she grazed you.” He tells you.
“Another couple inches and I’d be dead.” You murmur.
“That’s what you get for trampling through the jungle.” He laughs, “You’re not very discreet.”
“You’re lucky I caught sight of you, at all.”
The two of you wander up the hill, where you find Katniss, Peeta and Mags. Your theory about them being allies wasn’t so far off, it looks like. If it keeps going like this, you’re sure Johanna and Blight will join, and then you’ll be at seven. The numbers will probably stop there, you can imagine.
“Well, you two are close.” Katniss says bitterly, “Didn’t even know you two knew each other.”
“Well, when you’re soulmates, it’s almost like your whole world view changes.” You say.
Katniss nods slightly, “I’m going to climb a tree, get a better view on the cornucopia.”
“We’ll be down here.” Peeta says.
You take a seat next to Mags in the shade, trying to get your breathing back on track after running for so long in this heat. For a minute, you were sure that you were going to pass out.
While other victors might’ve trained for this day, you didn’t bother.
“How—?” Finnick manages to get out, before the tinkling noise of a sponsor gift silences him.
The four of you look into the air, curious on where it’s coming from, and who it must be for this early on. Normally, when you’re mentoring, you try to hold onto the sponsors until the most important moments. Every penny counts. However, you guess that the gifts are so cheap right now that it won’t even make a difference.
The medium-sized container lands right in front of you. You share a look with Finnick, unsure about opening it.
“It can’t hurt.” He says.
You reach forward, moving the parachute out of the way before you pop open the lid. In the middle of the container sits a small slip of paper, with the word ‘congrats’ written on it. There’s a knife beneath it, beautifully carved with a sharp and curved blade. This is meant for you, there’s no question about it.
You begin to inspect it in your hand, when the sound of tinkling begins again.
“What’s happening?” Peeta asks.
“Congratulations gifts.” Finnick says, he catches this one in his hands. When he opens the lid, he lets out a laugh, “Water.”
You’re on your feet in an instant to see for yourself. There’s five bottles inside of the container, one for each of you. You take one out, and laugh for yourself, because they’re cold. You press the bottle to your forehead for a minute, before opening it and taking a few sips.
Peeta gets to his feet, coming over to grab one for himself. You move around Mags, grabbing Finnick’s shoulder to make him lean in your direction. You cup your hands to block what you’re saying from the Capitol, “We’re going to play this up, aren’t we?”
Finnick turns to you with the biggest grin, eyes dancing over your face, “You know it, darling.”

breathtaking pt1 (Finnick Odair)
summary; you thought that you were going to go into the arena without ever meeting your soulmate. little did you know, he's been next to you the whole time.

part two.
The worst part about the announcement of the Quarter Quell was by far the amount of questions you were asked about it afterwards. In the months leading up to the reaping, all you kept being asked was, “How do you feel?”
In the beginning, you would just stare at them for a second, hoping that they’d realize how stupid they are for asking it in the first place. How do they think you feel? While they’re all grown and get to live the rest of their lives without worrying about dying, you’re having your rights taken away from you yet again.
You aren’t supposed to do this again. Everyone was promised that once they win, they are done with the Hunger Games. They were no longer eligible to go inside, the only time you’d come close would be during mentoring. You’d get to live that week in the Capitol over and over and over again, watching different tributes get reaped, and then die in the arena.
As the reaping drew closer, the question died in their throats. The idea of reminding you about your potential fate made them uncomfortable. They never considered the idea of how irritating it was to answer the question every day of the week and then for it to slowly fizzle out.
You could handle the odds of going back into the arena. With only four girls in District Five, there was a twenty-five percent chance that the name pulled out of the bowl would be yours. It bothered the other girls, but you knew you had to let it go if you wanted to be even remotely happy for what could be your last weeks in your home.
Actually, the part that upsets you the most is the fact you’ll never get to see the world in color, because you haven’t met your soulmate yet. You’ll never get to see the sky, or the trees, or the color of the clothes you wear everyday. All the features that make someone who they are is absent in your sight. You’re left with black, white, and grey.
You thought that you would have years to try and find them. You’re only in your twenties. You were supposed to take over mentoring, which would’ve allowed you to get a better chance at finding your soulmate.
It was ruined as soon as your name was the one drawn out of the bowl. You felt your heart sink into your stomach, because you weren’t stupid enough to think anyone would volunteer for you. The sighs of relief that came from the other girls was salt in the wound.
For a few hours, you were stupid enough to hope that you’d win, until you saw exactly who was drawn this year. It ended up being the last nail on the coffin. You are going to die inside of the arena, you’re sure of it. That’s why you haven’t taken a single thing seriously this past week.
Why does it matter? Why would sponsors matter? They don’t want you, they want the siblings, they want the volunteers, they want their darlings, and they want the newest trouble. You are just a minor victor in the crowd.
When you were telling your stylist about your pessimistic views, all he could say was that they were entirely justified. The Capitol loves their victor’s unfairly, and then it ruins the chances for the rest of you. Anything that would normally catch the attention of the crowd on a regular Hunger Games is useless here. The parade, the scores, the interview you’re about to do. It’s for nothing.
You trace patterns on the bare skin of your thigh, watching as your prep team and stylist move around the room. They’d briefly gathered a few minutes ago to talk, and ever since they’ve been running around pulling things off the shelves in the closet. You’re guessing it’s jewelry.
Your stylist pulls out one of those protective bags for dresses, except this one is bigger and stuffed with fabric. He unzips it to take a look inside, and you can see the smile come across his face. His eyes dart up to yours, looking at you through the mirror.
“(Y/n),” He begins, coming closer, “I’ve been saving this dress for a special occasion, since I will never be able to use it again in any of my work. Tonight, you will be my muse.”
You give him a slight smile, “Are you sure you don’t want to save it for anything else?”
“I’m sure.” He says, unzipping the bag, “I’m aware you can’t see the color, but you should know that it’s not the most important part. It’s the design.”
Together, he and the prep team work to get the dress out of the bag. It’s a light shade of grey, so you’re going to guess that it’s a pastel color. It’s uncommon for stylists to go for something so gentle, because the lights on the stage tend to wash the tributes out. That’s why the colors are bright and hard, so they can pop and shine.
You think that it’s going to be some small dress, but the fabric never stops. There’s so much of it. He tosses the dress bag off to the side, and then unzips the back for you to get into. It takes a minute, they have to adjust and pin the dress where it’s too big or too small. By the end, you can’t even tell that it’s been altered.
One of the prep team members gets to work on fluffing the dress, while the other fixes your hair, and then gets to work on putting the jewelry on you. She focuses on your earrings and the necklaces on your collarbone to make sure they’re positioned perfectly. They get you in heels, and then your stylist shuffles in front of you to settle something on the top of your head.
You’re ordered to close your eyes until you’re in front of the mirror and finishing touches are made. They fix your makeup, and then spray something wet and sweet smelling on your skin. You’re guessing it’s perfume, but as soon as you open your eyes and sway slightly, your skin sparkles.
The dress is floor length, off the shoulder but with long and loose sleeves to keep you from getting cold while waiting for your turn to be interviewed. And the object he snuggled in your hair is a tiny tiara that sparkles with your skin each time you move.
You run your hand over the gorgeous patterned lace, letting out a breath, “What color is it?”
“Pink.” He says, coming over to stand behind you, “A gentle and loving pink, one that resembles innocence and beauty.” He fixes a curl, “It’s light and uplifting, and it looks beautiful on you.”
“Thank you.” You smile.
“You’re good to go out, (Y/n). I believe in you.” He says.
You wander out of the room and down the hall, absently tracing one of the closest flowers while you near the line to the stage. The other victor’s are in varying outfits. This year, District Two is subjected to looking like gladiators, the Ritchson siblings are eye-catching in their sequin outfits. Johanna Mason wears a long dress, but she doesn’t look out of place.
A few eyes land on you as you draw closer, but they don’t linger longer for more than a second. They don’t care, a victor from District Five is anything but a threat to them at this point. You’re sure half of them have already decided how they’re going to get rid of you in the arena. And if they haven’t, it’s because they know they can take you in a fight. There’s no use planning it.
It’s only a few minutes later, when the entire hallway is going completely silent. You look over to see Katniss, dressed in a large wedding dress. You should’ve guessed, that was the whole obsession after their Victory Tour. Of course, her stylist would try one more thing to catch the Capitol’s attention.
“I can’t believe Cinna put you in that thing.” Finnick says, there’s a look of bewilderment on his face.
“He didn’t have any choice. President Snow made him.” Katniss defends.
Cashmere flickers her hair over her shoulder, “Well, you look ridiculous!” She spits, taking Gloss’ hand and walking off with him to stand at the front of the line.
You swallow, closing your eyes. You don’t know how you’re going to survive this, really. You know nothing about any of these people, except for what you’ve seen on the screen. You’re at a severe disadvantage compared to the other female victor’s back home. At least they got to talk to half of these people.
The only two victor’s that feel the same way you do must be Katniss and Peeta, but even they’re fitting in more than you are.
You resist the urge to rub down your face, but you do let out a slight huff. You guess you’ll just have to resort to hiding in the arena, even though you didn’t win through that strategy. You mostly fucked around with trying to set off traps and force the gamemakers to accidentally kill the tributes for you. It worked, it’s why you’re standing here today.
That’s not going to fly in the arena, though. These people have watched your games, the same way you watched theirs. All strategies are on the table, which means that you’ll need to figure out how to camouflage and hide, immediately.
Cashmere and Gloss lead the way onto the stage, and one by one, you make your way to the seats at the back of the stage. The audience is loud, cheering and whistling. The lights are blinding, you squint through them, relaxing your face when you’re adjusted to the brightness.
You tuck the dress beneath you before you sit down, as soon as you’re planted in your seat, you can feel the nerves in your stomach settle. You haven’t been on a stage in a few years, you remember hating every minute of it. From the parade, to your face being shown for scores, to all the interviews and speeches you did after you won. You hated every second of it.
Caesar’s hair is a different color, it’s some type of grey, so you’re thinking it’s a muted color. You know that he changes it every year, you wish you could see, because you’re sure he looks fantastic every time. He’s been hosting the Hunger Games for a long, long time. That’s a lot of colors to go through, repeating or not.
He does his usual opening-interview spiel with the audience by cracking a few jokes and getting them in a fun mood. From what you’ve heard from your mentors, the citizens of the Capitol are torn between hating the Quarter Quell and adoring it. It’s clear on why; most of the favorites are here. It’s a shame they don’t know how much power they hold.
Cashmere starts the interviews with a speech on how she’s been crying ever since she was chosen. She’s so heartbroken over the fact that the Capitol is suffering because of how many victor’s they’re losing to the games. Gloss follows up with talking about how they’ve been so kind to them ever since they won, and it’s been a pleasure mentoring since.
Enobaria expresses how sad she is that she won’t be able to experience the Capitol’s wonders, since there’s more to live through. She was hoping to get more body modifications and possibly become one of their featured darlings, or a modeling icon for the people back home.
Beetee does his intelligent rambling, talking about how the Quarter Quell is technically illegal and it shouldn’t exist in the first place. He asks if the experts—Gamemakers—have considered this and examined it as of late. You watch as Wiress goes up and backs him up calmly, explaining that this isn’t fair.
When Mags takes the stage, it’s filled with Caesar guessing what she’s trying to say, but you can tell that she’s outraged, too. She’s too old for this, and yet she volunteered to come to save a girl she mentored. Finnick talks through a bright smile, and when Caesar asks if he’s got anything to say, his eyes darken. He proceeds to recite a love poem that’s clearly talking about his home district and how he might not get to see it ever again. It’s misinterpreted and too many people in the crowd think it’s aimed at them.
“For District Five, we have the lovely (Y/n) (L/n)!” Caesar shouts, hand held out in your direction.
You get to your feet with a smile, heading toward the front of the stage. You place your hand in his, he squeezes your knuckles, “Hello, Caesar.”
“Hello!” He laughs, looking over what you’re wearing, “Well, don’t you look pretty! I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like this before on stage.”
“My stylist was saving it for a special day, and that’s tonight, I suppose. I was just as surprised as you are.” You look out to the audience.
“Yes, it has been an interesting night so far.” He agrees, “Tell me, what was going through your mind at the reaping?”
You give a half-shrug, “I was disappointed, if I’m being honest.”
“And why’s that?” He asks.
“Well, I’m sure you can guess.” You shake your head, “I’m sure it’s an honor for some people to be back here again and have the opportunity to compete, but I’m losing out on one of the most important parts about living.”
“Let me guess, getting to mentor tributes?” He smiles.
You shake your head again, “No Caesar, it’s getting to see color.”
There’s enough gasps at once that makes your smile inwardly. You know what the other victor’s are trying to do, so you’ll help them. Even if they don’t invite you into their alliances, you’re with them on this. You don’t want the Quarter Quell to happen. You want to go home. That’s why you’ll expose yourself to the Capitol, because you’ve heard how colorful they are. They’ll eat up the idea of living this long without seeing color, ever.
Caesar gapes for a second, “You haven’t found your soulmate yet?”
You look out, “I will never get to see the Capitol the way the rest of you do. I hear the buildings are brightly colored, I hear how gorgeous the clothes are. And I will never get to experience that, because it’s being taken away from me.”
You can feel the tears build in your eyes. They’re partially real, because all you’ve ever wanted was to see the world the way your parents did. They saw real beauty everywhere they looked, and you saw nothing. And you will see nothing, until the day you die in the arena.
You hard blink to force the tears down your face, throat clogging. You have to play it up for them, otherwise they won’t care. You take a few seconds to dab at the corners of your eyes, with Caesar comforting you. The citizens are eating it up, there’s a few of them crying, you can’t see them past the light in your eyes, but you can hear them out there.
“I’m sorry, (Y/n).” Caesar squeezes your hand.
“I am too.” You sniff, fanning your face, “For what it’s worth, I think the city is beautiful without color, too.”
The buzzer goes off, signaling the end of your interview. There’s shouts complaining over how short it felt. You kiss the tips of your fingers and blow a kiss to the crowd before turning away and walking back to your seat. You struggle to hold in the smile that wants to break over your face.
The next few interviews are just as brutal. Johanna questions whether or not the creators can do anything about it. They never anticipated that the Capitol and the victors would form such a bond. Cecelia does a number by saying goodbye to her kids on camera, which has the whole audience in tears.
Seeder’s calm when she says that Snow is considered powerful. If he is, then certainly he can change the fate of the Quarter Quell, right? Chaff comes in swinging, reciting the same thing as Seeder but enforcing the idea that Snow must not care about the way his people feel.
And then Katniss walks to the front and the audience is in shambles. She’s unable to speak for several minutes, and by the tame she can, she’s speaking about her wedding. How none of them will be able to attend it, now that she’s been reaped for another Hunger Games, but Snow wanted to show them what could’ve happened.
She starts twirling like she did last year, except the minor flames from the year before have turned into large ones. They consume the end of the dress and eat away at the layers, until it reaches her shoulders, and suddenly the flames are gone. You’re left staring at a black dress with feathers. When she stretches her arms out, wings appear.
Katniss’ interview ends almost a minute later, and she takes her seat. This allows Peeta to come to the front of the stage, where they go back and forth being comical. Caesar changes the topic to the Quell once he sees an opportunity to, and there the mood slowly spirals downward.
He says that he and Katniss are already married, and they did it privately while they could because they wanted the moment to be theirs. Then he quickly says that it’s unofficial because the traditions back home mean almost nothing to a piece of paper confirming it. Caesar and the crowd eat it up, completely on the edge of their seats.
“As you say, no one could’ve. But I have to confess, I’m glad you two had at least a few months of happiness together.” Caesar says. There’s a round of applause, Katniss briefly looks up from her dress.
“I’m not glad,” Peeta suddenly ays, “I wish we had waited until the whole thing was done officially.”
There’s a shock that goes through Caesar, he doesn’t say anything for a second, “Surely even a brief time is better than no time?”
“Maybe I’d think that, too, Caesar,” Peeta spits, “if it weren’t for the baby.”
Silence.
The words sink in the air, but as people get to their feet, shaking their fists, voices raised and screaming about injustice, it sparks others to follow. It’s not long before the whole audience is a wreck and nothing but an indiscernible noise. Caesar stands there dumbfounded, speaking into the microphone but not gathering any attention.
You press your lips together to hide the smile cracking at the corners of your lips.
Caesar’s trying to get the crowd to calm down, chaos has broken out. There’s no point in saying anything once the anthem begins to play. The volume’s so loud that you can feel it in your chest when the deeper parts play. It lets you know that it’s time to get to your feet to say goodbye on the program.
You lace your fingers in front of you, but quickly notice that others are not doing the same. As you look down the line of victors to your left, where Peeta is at the end, you can see that they’re holding hands, and your district partner has his palm open to do the same.
You grab his hand, and turn to Finnick, who has this little smile on his face, hand held up for you to take. You carefully place your hand on top of his, he’s quick to lace his fingers with yours. You squeeze tightly, hoping for some reassurance, and find him squeezing back.
When you look up to the crowd, your face twists. The light is just as strong, but you can tell what’s beyond it, because it’s no longer a sea of different shades of black, white and grey. They’re in color, they’re bright, and they almost hurt your eyes from the shades they’re wearing.
You gasp, tears filling your eyes when you look out. You remember what your stylist said about the dress you’re wearing, and look down at it. Gentle, loving, innocent, beauty, light and uplifting pink. He was right. He dressed you as a princess for these people.
You tear your eyes away to finally, finally look at Finnick, your soulmate. The reason why you’re seeing these colors. You’re met with bright and breathtaking eyes, watching your face with a crooked smile. You can’t help the laugh that comes from you as the tears overflow your eyes.
“It’s you.” You breathe.
“It’s me.” He agrees.
