If we take this card as canon (which... it's a Ken Sugimori illustration):
Poland is canon to the Pokémon universe
So is Nazi Germany and the Nazi occupation of Poland
Lt. Surge presumably fought on the Eastern Front (He looks good for being at least 70ish in 1996), and the war he is referring to in Red/Blue is WWII.

So I was wondering what pokémon my pokémon world counterpart would have. I'm Dutch, and the Netherlands actually gets a Pokémon counterpart in the Zoroark movie: Crown City. Now I went looking through the list of Pokémon that live there or are used by trainers from there, and I came to the conclusion that I probably would have a Shroomish as a partner pokémon.

I really like how the kids at the Blueberry League Club all have starters on their teams in different roles. Like Crispin has his Blaziken as his ace and Drayton has his Sceptile as his token different type team member. It helps make them feel part of the system where kids are given a starter at the start of their journey, which usually is only the player and the rival.

I've thought about this. In my head they would form familial groups of mixed species but the same egg group.
There's the field group, consisting primarily of Oranguru and Ninetales. Zoroark live among them and occasionally have kids with them but generally just kinda live wherever in disguise.
There's a group of Alakazam and Beheeyem that I think is the most likely to have agriculture figured out, especially Beheeyem with crop circles and what have you.
There's a seafaring, migratory group of Lapras, Dragonite and Slowking.
Tinkaton are basically just fantasy dwarves and maybe cohabitate with like Indeedee idk.
I feel like Metagross and Porygon would also be in there somewhere.
OK so hear me out: a Pokémon setting that, like Mystery Dungeon, does not have humans (anymore?), but Pokémon have their canonical intelligence. Like most are still basically smart-ish animals, but there's hunter-gatherer or even agricultural societies of like Alakazam, Lapras, Dragonite and Tinkaton.

Love the fact that the "make [flavor] sandwich" BBQs incentivize making the worst foods. Cucumber and vinegar sandwich. Pickles and vinegar sandwich. Hot sauce and onion sandwich. Or how about a sweet, sweet whipped cream and cherry tomatoes sandwich?

Picked these up again to see if I can beat Blueberry. I'm getting really far, but Amarys is wrecking my shit and I'm getting close to level 90.
I can get close with Tera Electric and running Earthquake/Earth Power on a bunch of team members but that's not quite enough because p much her entire team can hit me for STAB super effective damage and I'm frail-ish while she is bulky.
I'm pretty certain I can take Kieran though if I manage to break through the Dragonite/Politoed combo with minimal losses.
Terapagos's Water Pulse on the other hand? Might be impossible.
