Saturday, June 4, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said that we, people mourning Muhammad Ali, must remember the legendary boxer’s faith. During a press conference in Los Angeles said: “The reason that Ali struck a chord in the heart of so many Americans was not just his great boxing skill, it was his incredible courage. At a time when it was not popular to do so, Ali stood up and said, “I am opposed to the war in Vietnam and I’m not going to fight in that war.” And that incredibly courageous decision cost him three and a half years of his prime fighting life. But he chose to stand by his ideals, his views. What a hero. What a great man.”

Detroit teachers stage “sickout” over horrible conditions, force schools to close

Eighty-eight of Detroit’s 97 public schools were closed Wednesday when teachers participated in a districtwide “sickout” to push for demands related to school conditions and their rights as employees. The protests align with a very high profile visitor in Detroit.

RIP Zaevion, a real hero👏

Would I/you be this brave?

Number 24 is Zaevion Dobson. He was a high school football player in Knoxville, Tennessee. (That’s his brother Zack next to him)

Earlier this week he dove on top of three girls to shield them from a random shooting. None of the girls was injured. But unfortunately Zaevion was killed.

One of the people he saved was a young girl named Faith. And she later tweeted:

“He died laying on top of me. I love him. That’s my brother man. Rest easy Zae. I’LL NEVER FORGET YOU.”

The shooting happened when three men drove up and just starting firing away.

The Police Chief got choked up as he talked about it. He said:

“Unfortunately, they picked a random group of young men and women who were just hanging out and trying to prepare to celebrate the holiday.”

Zaevion was only 15. And yet his first thought was to save others. That to me is amazing.

Zaevion was also a mentor to others through the 100 Black Men of Greater Knoxville chapter. And now he’s gone. For absolutely no reason.

What is wrong with people? What kind of person drives up and just starts shooting at a group of random people?

As Zaevion’s brother tweeted:

“Really man. Why u have to take him away from me.”

It’s the same question a lot of people are asking right now.
