      "You know... I won't be mad no matter how tight you're hugging me. As long as you don't hurt me or make me pass out." She may or may not tease him because of Cissnei.

        ❛❛   H-Hey now,   that was an accident !   ❜❜        how was he to know the full strength of his hugging abilities !   Cissnei always had a habit of exaggerating her dislike to such affections that he wanted to change her perception one way or another,   but her refusal only added to his determination and the next he knows he squeezed the air out of her completely,   he'll make it up to her   ...   onc e she stops running from the very sight of him.   Zack huffed,   arms crossing against chest while Aerith's teasing brings out a pout,   of course she heard,   the word travels fairly quickly amongst the girl's gossip group.   She won't let this one die,   he knows it.        ❛❛   Guess I should cut down on the hugs then,   huh ?   ❜❜        he doesn't want to hurt anyone,   especially Aerith,   Oh,   but he loved their occasional hugs,   would he have to give that up as well ?   The thought significantly adds to his despair.

       ❛❛   Oh,   hey !   I know you !   ❜❜        somewhat,   at least.   Daphne would speak of Jasper almost all the time,   they seemed almost inseparable until he was put into sleep.   Zack wondered what kind of man he was,   had often looked forward towards meeting him if the chance would offer itself,   the stories alone weren't enough to him of course,   and to think they'd be working together,   he's excited !        ❛❛   Jasper,   yeah ?   I heard so much about you from Daph !   ❜❜        he would greet him properly with a smile and an extended hand.        ❛❛   Looks like we're gonna be working together,   wait till she hears about it.   ❜❜

" You're Daphne's friend, right? " Zack Fair; of course, he knows far more about the man than he lets on. A fellow Shinra science experiment is not easily forgotten, after all. Much to the organization's dismay, spending the last decade under the spell of cryo-sleep hadn't made him any less sharp or calculating. It was no surprise that Cloud kept to himself, there were obvious signs. Lately, he's tried to be more discrete. Cloud thought it was best. There seemed to be one person he couldn't hide from. Zack. He was surprised that he could see through every silent sigh and look. Cloud never thought someone would pay attention to him that deeply.

Today was a long day. Cloud got certain cliques that didn't sit well with him. He had the habit of reading too deeply into things, but it was a shot at his self-confidence. He's been in his thoughts all day. Cloud finally broke free of his inner prison when he felt a strong embrace... from his friend.

He leaned into it a bit and finally showed a smile. ❝ Thanks Zack... ❞

     Attempts to contain excitement are evidently futile,   the soldier would restrain himself just enough so he wouldn't startle the poor thing when placed within his hands.   Gloved palms wait expectantly until the fluffy thing is drop into his care,   oh she's adorable !      ❛❛   She does ?!   ❜❜        Zack gasps,   a grin of pure delight pulling upon features,   he might just cry.        ❛❛   What's her name ?   How long have you had her ?   Awww,   she's so cute !   ❜❜

      She's putting up a good fight,   but with some stubbornness and the advantage of Mako enhancement he easily gained the upper hand,   arms wrapped around her firmly,   as unbudging as a statue.        ❛❛   Yup !   and there's nothing you can do about it until you embrace the way of hugging.   ❜❜        he confirms,   the only movement made is him nuzzling his cheek against the top of her head.

She   struggles   against   him   again,    a   grunt   parts   from   rose-tinted   lips   while   brows   furrow.       (how   isn't   he   budging   at   all?   Is   she   that   weak?)

      Is he unaware of his own strength ?   Yes.   Is he suffocating her ?   Possibly.   Still,   he's not going to take her refusal without a fight this time,   there's no stopping this golden retriever of man !

        He can't quite grasp the workings of this world,   one minute he was at the church steps,   in another,   standing side by side with an older Cloud against Sephiroth of all people                    Aerith was there too,   he felt her presence at the very least   ...   while in his world she still lay unconscious in her own bed.   Zack had long since learned to go with it and do what feels right for the moment,   despite the forming headache caused by plentiful questions that remained unanswered amidst all this confusion.   All he could truly do is leave his trust in Cloud,   &.   lend a helping hand when the chance offers.   With the battle won,   he would soon awaken in the church,   at the front raw of seats where he would often rest and watch Aerith as she tended to her flowers,   oh,   what he would give to hear her voice once more.   His gaze wandered towards the patch of flowers in remembrance,   the blurred line between past and present now outlined before him with such clarity.

        ❛❛   Aerith   ... ?   ❜❜        he breathed,   seeing her figure between the vibrant lilies,   how did she get here ?   He left her in Elmyra's care   ...   unless   ...   his heart dropped,   instantly brushing off the possibility with a shake of his head.   He approaches slowly and knelt beside her,   careful around the flowers they both had grown to love.   He takes her into his arms,   a gloved hand caressing her cheek,   she's breathing,   that's good   ...   he hopes.   He watched her for a moment,   a sad smile tugging on his lips as he uttered a quiet :        ❛❛   Helloooo.   ❜❜

It's been a long week, he wants nothing more than to spend the rest of It relaxing, and of course he would turn to the church whenever he was in need of soothing, Aerith would always be there waiting with the patience of an angel and a smile as radiant as the sun. Every mission was spent thinking of her since first meeting, an involuntary thing that brought him comfort more than anything else. There was no hesitation on his part once he saw her beyond the gates, his pace quickened and arms enveloped her in a tight embrace. ❛❛ I missed you.  ❜❜ // <33

Aerith is always scared Zack wouldn't come back when he leaves for a long period. She knows how strong and capable he is, but she also knows he will do anything in his power to help. He wants every battle to mean something, and she admires him for that, but this is scary, so damn scary. It's the first time she's this close to someone other than Elmyra. He knows her so well, and loves her for who she is. She's so grateful for that; he feels like a gift to her. She wants him at her side for good.

When she sees him, a bright smile appears on her lips. She quickly stands and walks away from her flowers, quickly finding Zack's arms. She wraps hers around his chest in return. "I missed you too." She stands on tiptoes to gently kiss his cheek before she lets her head rest against his chest. "You here for a bit I hope, mmh ?" She hopes for much more than just a bit, actually.
