Van Halen is a heavy metal band from California, United States, in 1974.
The band takes its name from its founders: the brothers Edward (first guitar and keyboards) and Alex Van Halen (drums and percussion). They join David Lee Roth (vocals) and Michael Anthony (bass and chorus).
In 1976, while the boys played at local bars, Gene Simmons (KISS member) attends a Van Halen show and decides to fund the group’s first demo, but is unsuccessful in introducing him to record labels. Soon after, a Warner Brothers executive proposes to sign a contract.
In this way, they record their first album “Van Halen” in 1978, obtaining an immediate success. The single “Eruption” immediately gave Eddie Van Halen the status of “God of the guitar” for the particular way of playing the solos. With this production, the group went on a promotional tour for almost a year.
In 1979, appears the second disc of the band, titled “Van Halen II”. From this album are extracted the singles “Dance the Night Away”, which managed to position themselves within the charts, and “Spanish Fly”, in which Eddie returns to display his guitar solos, but this time on acoustic guitar
“Women and Children First” was her third LP, and began to be sold in 1980. A year later, while recording the album “Fair Warning” (1981), there are a number of internal problems in the group due to desires. of Eddie’s experimentation in creating more serious and complex songs with the pop ideas of David Lee Roth. This album was a commercial failure.
For 1982 they feature “Diver Down,” a CD that captures different versions of well-known songs from great artists the size of Roy Orbison.
Until then, they made their first video clips for MTV. To do this, they use the image of “Diamond Dave” Roth to capture the maximum attention of the viewer.
In 1983 they performed at the US Festival, becoming the highest-paid group in rock history.
The next album titled “1984” (for the year of release), achieved great success not only in sales, but in specialized criticism. The first theme that was presented was “Jump”, which had a very sticky lyrics that managed to ascend to the first place of the radios. Similarly, LP “1984” came in second on the Billboard chart.

Van Halen Bio II
After having sent the record, they start a very successful tour, but David Lee Roth decides to leave the group for differences with the other members of the band in April of 1985.
After the departure of Lee Roth, look for a new singer and enter Sammy Hagar. With him they recorded in 1986 the disc “5150”. From this production, themes like “Summer Nights”, “Why can not be love?”, “Dreams” and “Love Walks In” are released.
Two years went by before Van Halen introduced a new LP. Thus, “OU812” appears in 1988, achieving a good acceptance by the public.
Already in the 1990s, he recorded the album “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” (1991). Also that same year they won the Grammy award as “Best Hard Rock Act with Vocals”.
In 1993 they released their first live double album titled “Right Here, Right Now” and two years later they released the studio album “Balance” (1995).
In 1996, Hagar has a fight with the Van Halen brothers and leaves the group. In the same year a compilation album of great hits appears: “The best of Van Halen, Vol. I”, which reached the top position of the sales charts, as the simple “Me Wise Magic”.
Also in 1996, Van Halen and David Lee Roth played (after 11 years) at the MTV Awards Ceremony.
After the departure of Hagar enters Gary Cherone. Together with him, they produce their new album in 1998, titled “Van Halen 3”. This album was not a commercial success considering the entire history of the group. That is, it was the only Van Halen album except platinum. A year later, Cherone decides to move away from the project.
They spent five years in silence, until early in 2004, Van Halen announced the release of a new album of hits with a subsequent tour of the United States. Sammy Hagar returns to the group and they release a compilation, “Best of Both Worlds”, which contains three new tracks: (“It’s About Time”, “Up For Breakfast” and “Learning To See”).
