benjy hid the sadness the term of endearment had brought on by groaning as he settled in between the rubble left by the battle. he knew he had no right to the grief he felt, not like marlene, benjy had lost his best friend, marlene her entire family. but then she would make a face, or laugh a certain way, and it was as if benjy had his best friend in front of him again.

❝it looks worse than it is❞ benjy lied throught gritted teeth and tried to offer marlene a reassuring smile, he failed as his soaked shirt was peeled from him, ❝just do what you can marly, it's fine, we still need to...❞ benjy stopped himself, there was no right way to say count our losses, see who we lost, so instead he just said, ❝—there's work to do.❞

"anything for an old friend, fenwick," mars shot him a wink before her gaze snapped back to his injury. her face immediately dropped into a grimace. "i doubt the rubble is comfortable, but try to relax as much as possible," she added, giving him a comforting pat on the knee.

with gentle fingers, marlene began to move the man's jacket and shirt out of the way. "if i had to venture a guess, something sharp and pointy probably it you," her tone was sarcastic but when she glanced back at him, her eyes were soft," i know it's painful, but it doesn't look infected, so there's a spot of good news."

if it wasn't for the intense pain and the blood seeping through his jacket, benjy would probably have forgotten about his injury for a while longer, but he could not help but bring a hand up to try and assess the damage.

❝yeah that would be great thank you❞ benjy said while moving to find a place to sit, ❝how about i just sit here. just so you know i would be lying if i said i know how it happened, so not much i can tell you about it other than it hurts.❞

"you want me to look at that for you?" mars asked, motioning to the injury the other person had sustained during the attack. "i'm not a healer, but i can probably hold you over 'til you can see one." she said a silent thank you to her mum for insisting the mckinnon children become self reliant without magical assistance. it led the young woman to picking up loads of basic skills: cooking, lock picking, first aid, etc. incidentally enough, such lessons from her mother tended to always come in handy in the long run.

the door to that line of thinking slammed firmly shut in her mind as marlene cleared her throat, offering the person a half smile.

benjy had made his way to morgana's earlier than expected. the meeting that awaited him a dark contrast with the festivities going on around him. the morning's prophet had hit them hard, and now they had to come up with a plan, benjy could already picture the tensions running high, those that would want to act and those that would want to try a peaceful solution, he had already made up his mind. lost in thought he almost bumped into someone.

unwilling having walked into an astronomy lesson benjy could do little but smile at narcissa, ❝uh- sure, i can try, i'm not sure my eyes are as sharp as theirs❞ he said smiling down at the kids, ❝but uh astronomy was always one of my favorite classes...❞

narcissa couldn't help but smile as she watched the families around her smile and laugh together. the grounds of the manor were decorated beautifully, to compliment the snow on the ground. she made sure all the children were equipped with warming charms to keep them from catching a chill as she talked them through the stars that they could see above them. narcissa may not have been named for the stars like the rest of her family, but she loved them just as dearly. teaching astronomy was one of her great joys in life. she smiled a little wider as she glanced at the presence beside her. it was distinctly not a child. "you can try too, you know? it isn't just for the children. if your eyes are sharp enough, you may be able to see jupiter and her moons."

nickname(s)  → benjy rarely uses his full name. the only people to ever call him benjamin are his grandfather, in every single conversation, and his mother, but only when she’s mad at him and she uses both of his names. his father calls him ben. throughout school and even at work, he always introduced himself as benjy; leading more than one person to believe it was his actual name.

dob → october 16th, 1956. twenty-eight years old

sexuality -> not that he would know the terminology, but if he did, then benjy would label himself as bisexual. he’s felt attraction towards both women and men, and would’ve pursued a relationship with either gender. if he wasn’t so focused on work and the war, and if he had not promised himself that he wouldn’t do what his mother and father did to one another. growing up in a household where the possibility of dying on the line of duty was so normalized did wonders for his view of romantic relationships, and planning for the future. for someone who loves with all his heart, the possibility of falling in love is a scary thought.

+ devoted: benjy will always give it his all, to everything and anything he does. you go big or go home. especially when things are hard, he’s not one to give up easily. once he’s given his loyalty to someone or something he will remain loyal until the end. in benjy’s mind being loyal is the most important thing a person could be. devotion is more than just being committed, it is believing in something or someone, to not let anyone down. he will do anything to protect the ones he loves, and now with war knocking on their doors, benjy will pledge to protect those who cannot protect themselves. his devotion to a better world might end up being the end of him.

+ sociable: like any pureblood boy benjy was raised to be excel at social gatherings, to be charming, to be a gentleman. his carefree nature and smile add to the charming effect he often has on people. he has no problem initiating conversation, and often than not would land him in trouble by approaching less than friendly people. he has no trouble reaching out to those he considers need a hand. public speaking is never a problem except perhaps because he has no filter or notion that certain things have a time and a place.

+ kind: benjy’s life motto could very well be ‘in a world where you can be anything, be kind’ he follows that philosophy every moment of every day. there’s nothing particular that made him be this way, except perhaps that he wants a better world for everyone. even as he joined one of the toughest division in the dmle, benjy didn’t do it for the glory or the need to catch bad guys, but because he wanted to keep everyone safe. from a smile given to a total stranger on the street to offering a hand to his friends, benjy’s kindness knows no limit, he gives without expecting anything in return.

- easily distracted: benjy has a very short attention span. his mind is racing all the time and often missed what the person was saying because he’s thinking about something else. he has an excellent memory and is great with specific details, except he won’t remember what those specific details belonged to. but once he manages to recall the situation he is able to describe it to the last second. sometimes he might not even remember meeting someone before, and even if he’s good with faces, he has trouble remembering names.  reading a book was an impossible task, ever since he was a little kid he struggled with that, hogwarts wasn’t any better, it was thanks to hard work and people willing to tutor him that he managed to excel in his grades to be able to apply to the aurors program.

- pugnacious: for someone so smart benjy always acts before he thinks. he takes action before considering risk or consequences, especially when getting into a fight. some of his behavior is considered reckless, especially by his mother and surprisingly by his grandfather. it wasn’t until benjy realized that grades would not be enough to get him a place in the aurors program that he stopped getting into trouble. but old habits die hard, he would sometimes find himself in a dangerous situation and wonder how he ended up there. he always tries to seek a pacifist solution because his anger flares up fairly quickly. it’s surprising to see him argue and watch how someone so easy going and always wearing smile start to raise his voice, often to the point of physical confrontation.  when it comes to getting into a fight benjy doesn’t tend to think his decisions through, making him an oddity amongst those graduated from his house. 

- reckless: not the drinking and partying kind of reckless, but the jumping into a fight in the middle of a alley, outnumbered, putting his life on the line without even a second thought. benjy has a dangerous combination of feeling like it’s his duty of protect everyone around him, a fire burning in him, itching for a fight, and the never thinking before acting. he is more often than not finding himself in danger, never one to call for backup, especially when innocent lives are at risk. one of these days it might cost him greatly.

former ravenclaw. half party boy, half know-it-all.

was a keeper for the ravenclaw’s quidditch team and part of the gobstones, wizard’s chess, and dueling club.

currently an auror. benjy truly believes in justice.

pureblood. but he couldn’t care less about blood status. although grandparents on both sides are extremely into blood purity.

benjy grew up being exposed to dark magic and has a vast knowledge of dark artifacts although it is something he doesn’t talk or even likes to think about.

parents: william fenwick and angela burke. his parents have high risk ministry jobs and benjy grew up believing it was normal to live with the not knowing if one of your parents wasn’t going to come home. so that’s how benjy believes it is normal to die for what you believe in!

benjy is an only child.

growing up he was very soft and kind and very sociable. but soon started to voice his opinions and his parents got worried one of the grandparents was going to try to take him away.

hogwarts was a wonderful time for benjy. specially since he found people who shared his views and opinions about blood purity. and like he quickly made it a mission to befriend half-bloods and muggleborns.

benjy’s dream was to become an auror to protect everyone from the forces of evil.

and of course when the invitation to join the order arrived he joined immediately.

people often look at him funny because he calls voldemort ‘the dark lord’, but really that’s how his family calls him, so he just thought it was normal!

benjy is outgoing, and kind, and loving. but so reckless. he will jump into action and get himself in danger and often hurt.
