Bulletproof Brain Octane C8 Oil -- My personal keto story with this MCT oil
Tumblr media
Confused about MCT Oil?
Hopefully this will help clear it up a little with my review of Bulletproof Brain Octane Fuel.  When you first start keto, you are bombarded with TONS of products and some are great, some aren't.  Some are actually keto, some just slap keto on the label.  A few taste good and some just don't.   It is like a minefield really. I tried a few different MCT Oils and was underwhelmed really.   They gave me heartburn which I never had before and I didn't really feel anything.  I didn't even get any higher ketone numbers when I was using my KetoMojo.  Then I read Bulletproof diet and thought I would get really aggressive about it at least for a couple of weeks.  No more dirty keto, no more sketchy coffee (just the mold free Bulletproof brand), and REAL C8 MCT Oil -- in this case, the Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil.

What the heck is C8 you ask! Well MCT comes from Coconut oil.  They are NOT 'the same thing' as some people like to claim.   They are more like a parent and an offspring.  There is MCT in plain old coconut oil but it is only about 6 to 8%.  So if you were having a tablespoon on Brain Octane Oil, you would get ALL C8 and if you were having coconut oil, it would take 13-16 tablespoons of coconut oil to get 1 tbsp on C8.   And you would be consuming C10, C12 (the other MCTs) as well as all the other parts of the oil -- so a lot of calories without the benefits.  Whereas just C8 gives you all the benefits (clarity, focus, fuel, appetite control, etc) with just 130 calories. So if you can afford it -- GET C8 -- it is where all the benefits from.  And if you want more of the science and statistics, there is a lot about C8 in Dave Asprey's Bulletproof Diet book -- which really should be on your Keto reading list as it just has soooooo much info. My Personal Experience with Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil So I tried it for a few weeks and I did find it helpful.  I had less hunger and better craving control even when I was dieting or fasting.  And my vitamins seemed to work better.  (Probably due to the oil and some fat soluble vitamins work best when you take them with fat)   And I had no heartburn.   I eased into it carefully as everyone warned me of potential digestive issues and it was fine. So, I actually quite love Bulletproof Coffee (coffee with MCT and Unsalted Butter) but due to my current medications, I am not consuming a lot of caffeine products so I am not having it daily.   Sometimes I have what I call a Bulletproof Cocoa (Dark Chocolate Cocoa powder, warm almond milk, MCT -- blend the daylights out of it) and I do enjoy a Green Tea Matcha Almond Milk Latte with MCT (same caffeine issue though)  so there are some alternatives for people who are not drinking coffee. There are also some recipes in the Bulletproof Diet book (one for a vanilla latte) that I might get to trying once fall hits here in the South and I am drinking more warm drinks.   And I am having surgery next week so hopefully after that, I will be getting off some of the medications so I can have a nice dose of caffeine again soon. Closing Thoughts on Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil TRY IT -- Give it a couple of weeks and see if it is a good fit for you.  Don't let the price scare you off.  There are a lot of servings in there, especially if you are just getting started as you should ease into it with a teaspoon or two for at least the first few days.   I personally skip MCT altogether if I don't have the Bulletproof as a lot of the others just are not as well made (that is why they gave me heartburn) but try it for yourself.  You might find it to be a great addition to your morning  - and if you are fasting, it will REALLY WARD OFF THE HUNGER!!
