listen, the woman has gone ten fucking years without touching anyone, at least not in a good way, and for how much she talked about how she'd touch everyone and everything... she doesn't actually do that, once her engine is "fixed". for the most part, she keeps to herself. she's used to it. she needs to relearn how to touch again

but karlach's body is nothing if not expressive, and she is completely touch starved, and besides, wyll...

well, wyll is her rock

the one person she could unconditionally trust since gortash. the only person who unconditionally trusted her, believed in her, was willing to bare their neck for her. the one person who stubbornly fucking refused to leave her no matter what, who goes to hell for her, who promises he will keep her safe from zariel and she could actually believe it

wyll's her comfort.

and if her brain still can't quite compute that it's safe to touch people again, well, wyll is nothing if not safe

so subconsciously, she seeks him out

all the time

they're standing side by side and her tail is loosely wrapped around his ankle. they're sitting side by side and her tail is wrapped around his waist, keeping him closer. they have their backs to each other as they talk to different people but her tail is on his ankle, over the foot. they're too far apart for her to touch him but her tail is still always, consistently, pointing in his direction

seeking comfort

finding it

and neither of them really notices anymore. wyll is so used to it he actually balances slightly funny if he's standing and karlach's tail is not wrapped around his leg. it comforts him, too, to be reminded that she's there, that they made it, that she will live and they will live together

and then someone points it out, and from then on, wyll starts paying attention

whenever he feels her tail touch him, he reaches out to touch her hand, nuzzles her shoulder, brings her into a hug, kisses her whole face until she's giggling. he wants to make sure she'll never be starved for touch again

and he does it until she actually starts to get used to it and seek out touch in other ways, too. putting an arm over his shoulder when they're sitting, holding his hand when they're standing, kissing his forehead and hugging him whenever she pleases

but she keeps reaching out with her tail, as well

it's sorta become their thing, and they're attached to it
