What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?

An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:

I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.

Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.

A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)

So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.

Emergencies, surgeries and illnesses, and now a flayed thumb. My husband, @zhongluong will be out of work presumably for at least a few days... again. As of writing this post, he is on his way to the ER.

Help out a queer household

I didn't want to have to make this, but money is getting uncomfortably tight. My husband got covid this month, and has not had work for nearly two weeks. The other able-bodied person in our home is recovering from an intestinal surgery, and has a second one coming up soon. Unfortunately, he is not getting his deserved temporary disability pay. He got 17 dollars last week.

I am trying to raise money for us and our housemates in the only way I can- pleading on the internet and offering commissions.

was going to tell my brother abt flight rising but after the whole gilded crown thing i don't want to have the risk of my fucking account being deleted just because we live in the same house

Man the more I hear about Flight Rising moderation, the more I'm like legitimately fuck y'all. You get so mad at people for using multiple IP addresses that there's an entire caveat about how you need to tell the moderators if you're changing IP addresses or that multiple people in the same household use Flight Rising because otherwise your account is at risk of being nuked.

Like I get they don't have much server space, but when you kick off dedicated users because 2 people in the same household play and one gave the other a dragon, then you're having problems seeing cheating where it isn't there and your moderation reflects that.

No, someone switching accounts because of your weird hang ups about changing IP addresses and moving their stuff over isn't cheating. No, siblings playing FR together and giving each other dragons and clothes and gems from the same IP address isn't cheating. They've created this atmosphere where people are downright paranoid to have 2 accounts from different people on the same IP address, or even just changing your IP bc you moved or something.

Like. Idk. I think that's fairly detrimental to your playerbase, and the fact they're nuking accounts that aren't even cheating is honestly extremely fucked up. I love playing the game, but when it gets to the point where they're banning players for *checks notes* having multiple people in the same household play, then I think the mods need to back off a bit.

A video inspired by MrWeebl's iconic 'Badgers' video, but using the Drakeharvest and Springswarm scenes for the wildlife background and in place of bouncing badgers, mushrooms, and snakes, the video uses the Amethyst King badger-inspired familiar, the Ancient Fungus and Dwarf Truffle familiars, and the Maned and Spined Cobras.

The badgers bounce into the scene one at a time at the rhythm of audio's "badger badger" chant multiple times throughout the video, then cuts to bouncing or spinning mushrooms when the audio chants "mushroom! mushroom!" When the audio starts crying out about snakes, snakes zip back and forth across the scene and then the camera flies in and out around them.
