DR. HARVEY​:

PONDERING ON IT MORE, Harvey did suppose getting out and about would do him some good. As of late, he’d been too preoccupied to take his occasional afternoon walk to the lake or library, and the artificial lights and still air of the clinic was beginning to wear on him, mentally. 

A CAT AND A DOG… now that was certainly more Harvey’s speed. “I can do that!” He pleasantly chimed, the corners of his mouth curving into a grin as he considered the aspect of it. He had no pets himself – namely due to the hygienic protocol of the clinic, (not to mention potential allergies of his patients), but he had fond memories of his childhood family cat. 

–“Besides, it’s about time I visited your farm.” He had never been over that way – even before Winnie had moved into the valley, and he was curious to how it looked after hearing good comments from other members of the town. “It’ll be a nice change of atmosphere, I’m sure.”

“ Oh, it’s come quite a long way since I first moved in. If I weren’t so under the weather, I’d give you a full tour. ”

     Other than Robin and Mayor Lewis, Winnie didn’t get many visitors on the farm proper. Which made sense, since most of her goods could simply be purchased at the general store anyway. Besides, even if a neighbor did pop in for a spell, she probably wouldn’t make a very good host with how busy she usually was. Still, it’d be nice to have visitors every once in a while. 

“ It’s really not that exciting, anyway. You see one farm, you’ve seen ‘em all, right? ” she’d give a husky laugh, which was cut short by a sudden bout of coughing that she quickly covered up with her forearm. Oof, she really felt that one. 

“ Ugh... Sorry. I sure hope this blows over soon. ”

DR. HARVEY​:

Harvey shared a frown of sympathy at the woman’s tight predicament, ‘hmm’-ing quietly in thought. “…Unfortunately, three days is rather uncommon. The average cold lasts to roughly a week, but I’ve seen my fair share that lasted up to two. In your case, with proper rest, you should be back to doing light work within the next week.” He pulled a small bottle of over-the-counter cold medicine from one of the cabinets, offering it to her with a sympathetic smile. “This should help you, but be warned – it does have effects of drowsiness.”

–“I suppose I – hmm…” He trailed off in his thoughts, wondering whether he should offer his help in regards to her farm or not. Professionalism aside, Harvey didn’t know the first thing about tending to animals or plants, and he was certain that it would be unwise to place the care of something so vital in such inexperienced hands as his.

…Still, he could at least offer help in little ways.

–“…You know, I don’t have many appointments marked on my calendar for the next few days. If you need me to, I could at least visit and help out with some small things – watering your plants or feeding your animals, and the like.”

“ I was afraid you’d say that. ” Winnie let out a sigh, before sniffling once more. She knew it was wishful thinking, but she was holding out hope that this sickness would run it’s course quickly so she could get back to work. It wasn’t as though she didn’t like letting herself be helped or anything, she just... Didn’t trust anyone else to do her job for her. Wait, no, that sounded worse. 

     Okay, so maybe she was a little reluctant to let someone else tend to her farm. Surely one couldn’t blame her. Foster’s Farm was her responsibility. If something happened, she had to be there to fix it. But she knew running a farm solo would have setbacks like this. 

“ Oh-- ” Winnie’s eyes widen a bit at Harvey’s offer. He did so much work already, and he was still willing to go out of his way for her sake? She was appreciative, but she wasn’t sure if she could accept such a generous offer. 

     Then again, she might not have a choice.

“ Well... Actually, I do have a dog and a cat. If it’s not too much trouble, maybe you could stop by and feed ‘em? I can always ask Shane ‘n Marnie to handle the livestock, and my sprinklers take care of most of my watering needs. ”

DR. HARVEY​:

–“No, I suppose that would be difficult, what with your farm and all.”

Almost any other person, Harvey would simply encourage the rest, or even demand it if the situation was severe enough to require it. But Ms. Foster’s predicament was obviously more of an outlier than others – she had time-sensitive duties to attend to, after all.

–“But you really should rest as much as possible. Until your fever breaks, you’d very likely be endangering yourself with any laborious activity.” He ran his fingers through his hair, considering the options. 

–“Do you have anyone who could take care of the farm for you in the meantime? Maybe Marnie would be up to the task – or Shane?” 

     Catching a cold was never fun, but it was made even more stressful by the extensive backlog of responsibilities that Winnie had to attend to on a daily basis. She knew she ought to rest and let this sickness run it’s course, but how could she do that in good faith, knowing she was neglecting her farm? 

“ I dunno, doc... Marnie’s already got her hands full takin’ care of her own ranch. ” she punctuated her sentence with a sniffle, her normally light voice now hoarse and congested. “ But I s’pose I don’t have many other options. I’ll give ‘em both a call, see if they can help out. I don’t think I’ll be much use in this state anyway. ”

     Maybe it was time she started looking into hiring a farmhand... Something to be considered later. In the meantime, she’d just have to make due. Working herself to death wouldn’t do her farm any favors. 

“ How long do you reckon this’ll last? Two, three days? ”

While a handful of Pelipper Town’s residents have taken up Pokémon training as a hobby, many of them are content to simply enjoy the company of their Pokémon and leave the battling to those more suited. 

Not only is the valley teeming with Pokémon, it also has some of the most fertile soil in all the region. Crops grow faster in Stardew Valley than anywhere else in Ferngill, which makes the area ideal for farming. Just ask Winnie Foster, Pelipper Town’s resident farmer.

WELCOME TO THE FERNGILL REGION !

While a handful of Pelipper Town’s residents have taken up Pokémon training as a hobby, many of them are content to simply enjoy the company of their Pokémon and leave the battling to those more suited. 

Not only is the valley teeming with Pokémon, it also has some of the most fertile soil in all the region. Crops grow faster in Stardew Valley than anywhere else in Ferngill, which makes the area ideal for farming. Just ask Winnie Foster, Pelipper Town’s resident farmer. 

After moving in from the city to take over her grandfather’s old farm, Winnie’s worked hard to turn the neglected land into a prosperous and thriving homestead. She doesn’t do much battling herself, save for a few special occasions, but she does enlist the help of Pokémon to help her perform various tasks around the farm. 

In Ferngill, Stardew Valley especially, everything revolves around the changing of the seasons. The Pokémon who live there are particularly sensitive to changes in the weather, and once the climate starts shifting, many will migrate or go into hibernation. As a result, most of the Pokémon in the valley can only be found during a specific season. Spring has no shortage of bug and grass types, for example, while Fall has an abundance of ghost and dark types. 

Despite the sheer number of Pokémon that call the valley home, Pelipper town isn’t big or notable enough to have any gyms, especially with it’s fairly remote location. This hasn’t stopped the Joja Corporation from setting up one of their chain poké marts in the area, though. Morris, their Admin, might seem amiable enough on the surface... But there may be something more sinister hidden underneath that retail smile.

The best berries in Ferngill are grown in Stardew Valley, and the best berries in Stardew Valley are grown on Foster’s Farm. You’d be hard pressed to find tastier fruits & veggies anywhere else, but crops aren’t the only thing Winnie is known for. It is said that because of the strong bonds she forms with her Pokémon, all pokeproducts produced on Winnie’s farm are always of the highest quality. Her wooloos always produce the softest wool, her combees always produce the sweetest honey, and her miltanks always produce the most refreshing moomoo milk. 

Winnie was not a trainer initially, opting instead to focus on tending to her farm. However, after spending some time with the other trainers in the village, she eventually tried it out on a whim. She quickly developed a talent for battle, and the rumor among Pelipper Town’s residents is that she may even be on par with the valley’s strongest trainer. Thanks to her work with Pokémon on the farm, Winnie has also gained some impressive physical strength of her own. She may be somewhat reluctant to accept challengers, but should she choose to accept, know that she’ll have no intention of going easy on you. Despite her fierceness in battle, however, she will always heal her opponent’s Pokémon afterwards.
