Spongebob and Patrick: A ransom note writing
Dear Mr Squarepants,
It is a pleasure to talk to you, unfortunately not in person. Your great achievements has been so well known that many of my folks admire you. But you are a busy man sir. Not wanting to disturb you but we want to do some business with you. You have a lovely daughter. Spongepop, what a beautiful name. 18 is she, so wonderful. Every single part of her sponge body, so perfect. I wonder what it will be like, having them separated, collected, being hang up among the shelves. 1 million, are they worth for those collections? Maybe 5? It is all yours to decide how much those treasures are worth. It’s a pleasure to know you, and I am looking forward to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Patrick
Hands shaking, Spongebob dropped the letter on the ground, panicking. 15 years. He thought he could have gotten rid of this nightmare. Since the day of known, Patrick played on him. Acting like a fool, he slowly destroyed every piece of Spongebob. Sandy breaking up with him, Gary passing away, Squidward losing his nose, all came from this fake innocence. Destruction, enviness, madness that lasted for 13 years. Moving out of Bikini Bottom, Spongebob escaped. Having a nice family and a good job, 15 years passed. 15 years of peace, comes to an end today.
Patrick is back.

Standup and Love
The two greatest loves I have in life are Humor and Love. They are the most powerful forces in the universe.
The first time I fell in love, truly, with stand up comedy was just a normal night, nothing special (yet). My mom was watching the Mike Birbiglia Netflix special: My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend. Ever since I was in 3rd grade I have been very wishful for true love. I have felt I deserve it. I don't hate that I haven't found it, I know i'm too immature, there's no hate in that sentiment, just wishful thinking. So I have let myself feel the love in romcoms or sitcoms for the most part (Scrubs, Psych, Love) or movies with romantic themes/relationships (Star Wars, Scott Pilgrim, Baby Driver, Guardians of the Galaxy). the first time I watched Mike Birbiglia, it kinda changed my whole outlook. It was his own, real life experience. He told me that love is hard. That love is to be worked at, not always easy. Love is more than saving the girl you like from space nazis and your shared father, Space Hitler. Love is strange and beautiful and amazing and also very tough and difficult and annoying and worth it.
Love in standup is a very commonly used tool to get jokes to land by subverting the expectations of society's view on love and marriage. In Ali Wong’s stand up, you know that she and her husband are in love from how she jokes about him, there is a playfulness and realness to everything she says. In Baby Cobra, her first special she talks about how she trapped her husband by making him rely on her for his lunch, as she packed his lunch everyday. In the special she had previously established herself as a little bit sassy and had a bit of an attitude. Her set was a lot about her experience with her husband and marriage and sex. At her heart she was never mean-spirited, she used her performance attitude as a joke sometimes, that in real life she feels an expectation from fans to be her stage “persona” in person. Her husband graduated from Harvard Business, so she uses that fact to talk about how she trapped him for his money, so she could “chillax” as a stay at home mom. In Hard Knock Wife, her new special, she talks about the struggles of being the provider of her family. And how moms and dads have such different roles. She also brings up a question she was asked “how do you balance your job and your life as a parent?” (rough remembrance of the real question) she elaborates on this on how men never get asked this question. They don't get asked the question because they don't do that.
John Mulaney is a very broad comedian, and one of the most popular stand ups working right now. And being so famous he elaborates on many different topics. One of the things he focuses on about his wife (girlfriend in earlier specials) is about how she is a “New York Jew”. and how him being raised catholic in chicago is a very different experience to his wife’s. His comedy is similar to Wong’s in the way that they both establish that they love their partners, and then talk about them in kinda mean ways. He refers to his wife as a b*tch very lovingly lots of times. How he hides behind her, as New York jews are much more assertive than chicagoan catholics. These are my top three comedians of all time, and hearing how they talk about love gives good insight into them, their comedy style, and their own relationships.

Welcome to Annika’s“Channika”
Annika Osterlund is an uber-famous internet beauty guru, with whom I was given the chance to interview. She has done YouTube since 4th grade with her first videos being american girl dolls. Annika is a real interesting fellow. Her current YouTube videos are all about makeup stuff and other things Ithink. Annika always introduces her fans to her videos by saying “hi I'm Annika and welcome to my Channika!” This is a very commonly said thing to hear on campus, as she calls herself channika during school and on many different social media platforms. She sometimes has a bit of a potty-mouth, she calls her fans her “Annik***s” (which I will not write, as it is inappropriate.).
When annika was in fourth grade she “was gross” as she wore “3d glasses with the lenses popped out”. Annika’s biggest influence in the world is probably her parents. (to which I replied, “that’s gross”) her parents, I assume, helped her to become the person she is today, which in her words is someone who can “watch like 13 seasons of netflix in a month”. She is also surprising down to earth being a semi-celebrity, she’s just like us, her insides are “red”, which is the color of all people’s insides, not blue.
Annika’s favorite kinds of chairs are “com-fort-table ones”.
During the interview, I was typing too slowly, so annika took charge of writing things down. There were times when she had to remind me to ask her questions. This truly reflects the independence and take-chargedness that Annika shows on a daily basis.
In Annika’s words “ I would say good interview things if zeke wasn't interviewing me”

Elaborate Lives
The words ‘elaborate’ and ‘lives’ are truly the right phrases put together to entitle this year’s Spring play. 'Elaborate Lives’ tackles different themes of one’s story, achievements, and struggles.
This years Spring play was at first AIDA, but because of the backlash received due to the fear of “whitewashing” an Egyptian musical, it was changed. Some claim that is was the sharing of a culture that isn’t usually represented, but others were not willing to budge. Through great triumphs and tribulations, the cast of the Spring Musical was able to create a show full of songs, dance, and dialogue that revealed numbing themes of the world we live in. Attending all three shows, from the beginning to end, I melted into my seat as my eyes widened and my cognizance grew. When asked to use a word to describe 'Elaborate Lives,’ Clairenne, a cast member said, “Vulnerability.” She continues to say, “instead of character development we developed our selves as people.” Another cast member, Zeke, says, “Community; we built our own community to show.”
Overall, 'Elaborate Lives’ was something you did not want to miss. It spoke on the present and questioned the future. As a viewer, it touched my heart and I wished there were more shows for the CSW community and outside viewers. If you haven't seen it I encourage you to buy a CD or take the time out of your day to sit down with a cast member to hear their experience.
I want to leave you with a question presented during the show. What stories of you are untold?

re: me
Zeke Fairley
Zeke Fairley(often known as “Freaky Zekey”), is a complex CSW student. I had the opportunity to interview this legend on Friday the 18. He enjoys kickball, frisbee, and mostly, Zeke Fairly loves theatre. Zeke revealed his not-so-secret love of theater, saying he loves “doing acting and improv ‘n stuff”. He has been doing theater since the summer after his 4th-grade year and had done every spring musical since then. He loves theater and acting because he can be himself when he’s on stage. Zeke explains that, for the most part, he doesn’t care what people thinking and he believes it’s fun to subvert people’s expectation, just be different, and have fun. However, he clarifies that he likes to have fun rather than be fun because he believes he is “painfully boring”. Zeke even claims the best thing he’s ever done is be the lead in a musical because he could make people laugh.
While theatre is a love of Zeke’s, he does have a few other likes and dislikes. Overall, Zeke doesn’t love sports, he does enjoy playing a few, such as Ultimate Frisbee, and kickball. He’s been playing frisbee for years now and plays kickball in gym. Zeke enjoys these sports because they’re classic, fun, all-ages games. However, Zeke does not enjoy basketball because he believes he is not strong enough.
A final(and arguably most important) aspect of Zeke, are his nicknames. Zeke Fairley has a multitude of nicknames, that are all quite similar, but still different. His first nickname is “Zeke the Freak”, given to him by an 8th grader when he was in 6th grade. This also happens to be his username on social media platform, Instagram. However, on Instagram, it is spelled “Zeke the Freke”. His second nickname is “Freaky Zeaky”, which quite a large number of people call him. His third nickname is “Freak the Zeke”. Zeke, however, is only called this by classmate Edison Kao. While these nicknames seem strange, they are all out of affection from his current classmates and friends.
Here are some photos of Zeke from the day of the interview, Friday, May 18, 2018:

Who me is
I'm Zeke. I'm newly 15 but still mentally around 1-2 (years old). I have been a self-asserted comedian since kindergarten. The only the certainty I have in the life, the only true truth I know, is that if I make someone laugh, then I have done a good job. It doesn’t matter the laugh. Whether it be a chuckle, a guffaw, a cackle, a  chortle, a giggle, all are good. All make me feel warm and toasty in my insides. Or it could be the usual meat/cheese sweats that make me warm. With me, you never really know. I love food and sometimes lack in the hygiene department. I love lots of things. Obviously other people, as I am definitely a human. I also really like movies. If I were to be something other than a stand up or improv comedian when I grow up, I would want to work in Hollywood. Maybe in screenwriting, maybe acting, I just want to see where it all happens. But I also feel like I shouldn't have a stable career. I just don't have the attention span to always live my life with a sound financial situation. Being able to provide for yourself is too mature a thing for me to ever do. I'm excited to live off 25¢ ramen for the rest of my life.
