TheDissolve’s Noel Murray reviews the 10th anniversary Blu-ray edition of Mysterious Skin, which “adds about half an hour’s worth of new interviews with [novel author Scott] Heim, Corbet, and Gordon-Levitt, in which they look back on how it felt to make the movie and then see it for the first time. The Blu-ray also brings back the Araki/Corbet/Gordon-Levitt commentary track from an earlier DVD edition, which deals with the actors’ difficulties in dealing with the film’s content (which necessitated shooting the child actors without showing them the whole script) and Araki’s style, which had them ignoring their training and learning to act toward the camera. Gordon-Levitt says he embraced the challenge by thinking about the art of acting entirely differently—more like a form of prostitution.”

“If I wasn’t queer, we would have ended up having sloppy teenage sex and getting pregnant, contributing more fucked up, unwanted kids to society.”

You don’t have to tell me, I was infatuated with him too once. But I know all Neil’s secrets and there’s shit there you don’t even want to know about. Trust me. Once I’m gone, you’ll be all Neil has and you have to understand one thing. Where normal people have a heart, Neil McCormick has a bottomless black hole. And if you don’t watch out, you can fall in and get lost forever. | This Guy Named Joseph 50/infinity
