After getting lost in downtown Orlando, and running haphazardly around the streets trying to find the Beacham venue, we fucking made it. My girlfriend and I rushed across the street to get in line. Jeff Mangum last night was PERFECT.  Such a great show, ahhhh, weird kind of magic.  Some guy standing next to us in the crowd yelled out “you’re music saved my life,” and Jeff yelled back “you listening saved mine.”  Great crowd, great energy to the whole show.

Fun fact I learned about yesterday. Galaxie 500’s Naomi Yang was Jeff Mangum’s girlfriend in the 90s, and the song “Naomi” by Neutral Milk Hotel was actually written for her.  Naomi Yang herself shot this unofficial video for “Naomi” in 2011

Fifteen years ago, Damon and I were playing at a music festival. Someone from Neutral Milk Hotel came up to me, handed me a LP, and said “the song ‘Naomi’ is about you.” Fifteen years later, here is my response.

In 48 hours I will be in Orlando waiting to see Jeff Mangum. I'm excited beyond words and really nervous. I'm really short so I'm slightly worried about not being able to see the stage, ugh. But I might pass out from happiness.
