I also chose my wedding date based on when my period was due because I’m pretty regular but then I started my period the day before my wedding and I was bloated on my wedding day to the point where my dress very nearly didn’t zip up 😫

I knew someone who planned their wedding date around their cycle but it wasn't because of baby making plans, it was because they were so anxious about the possibility of being on their period during the wedding/while wearing the fanciest, whitest dress ever. Which seems (to me) more realistic than planning to ensure ovulation during the honeymoon.

Yea I'm sure fundies do that too, unless they're freaked out by sex or something and want an excuse lol. That's a little different bc periods are impossible ignore, so even fundies have to learn about them eventually (sometimes after the fact which can be traumatizing, but that's a post for another time).

Whereas I didn't even know what ovulation was at the time some of my church friends got married (we're talking 19-22), and that was even with my secular public school education lmao so I am almost positive the Christian school and homeschooled girls I hung out with didn't have any more of a clue than I did.

I don't know if anyone else follows Ariel Tyson but her ENTIRE personality is having 7 kids and liking to specify it's 1 girl after 6 boys and that her husband is a foot taller to her. She will mention one of those or both in every single one of her posts. Like what does having 7 kids have to do with doing this challenge? This has probably annoyed me more than it should but I'm stressed.

I hope they know that no one would be mad at them if they chose not to post any photos or videos at all of their time in the hospital never mind a video of her actually having a seizure or whatever it was (I haven't actually watched the video and I don't really want to). I think I would be mad as hell if my fiancé stood there filming me during something really scary rather than like holding my hand or literally anything else. I'm sure Carlin doesn't mind and I'm sure she didn't have an issue with uploading it but it just feels wrong to me. But to each their own.

If just a general heads up if you are uncomfortable with seeing Carlin having a medical episode that may be seizures or would find that distressing, I would maybe suggest skipping this video. Particularly at 2:55, and then again off and on 5:19-12:07 (interspersed with the interviews)

I feel so horrible for them, and I agree that I hope they find out answers soon. The lack of knowing what is happening or how to plan for it is just another level of anxiety.

I know that they are choosing to share this much of their lives on YouTube, but it feels invasive to watch some of these moments.

I thought a similar thing. If they wanted to go to an English speaking country they could've gone to the UK where it's really easy to homeschool. And when they moved to the US the UK was still in the EU so again would've been so much easier. I expect they wanted to move somewhere with a bigger religious community. Can't imagine there are too many evangelicals in Germany.

About the Romeikes: I am a teacher from Germany (actually only 20 minutes from where they lived) and as their case is quite popular among the spectrum of alternative schooling I knew their name from a totally different context and I am still blown away by the fact that I can now find them in the little corner of „fundies in the US“. Basically homeschooling is not allowed in Germany, they are really strict about it. The romeikes taught their kids at home (because of religious reasons) and eventually the police came around, they had to pay fees, the authorities were about to take the kids to school, etc. that’s when the Romeikes „fled“ to the US. They applied for asylum because they feel persecuted for being Christians and wanting to teach their kids at home. For me it strikes a a very weird complex of being the victim. It has nothing to do with asylum (and is really gross considering who really needs asylum). That is why they don’t get a work visa. I am really curious what will happen to them. And now it gets even more exciting as they get involved with my other weird interest (apart from illegal acting homeschooling families in Germany): Fundies in the US.

Yea I agree with you, I feel like there are other ways of avoiding the homeschool law besides applying for asylum 🙄 it feels performative and dramatic. I did a little bit of research about asylum and immigration law in the US, and if the story the Romeikes are telling was completely true I feel like it would’ve been accepted by the courts, but it was denied. So I’m guessing there was some serious exaggeration, or at least something they’re leaving out.

Either way, totally agree that asylum should only be used in emergencies, for people who are ACTUALLY in immediate danger, not some knuckleheads who are just mad that their kids have to learn unsupervised history.

Whenever I see posts like this my first thought is always why is so and so not there?Why are only Joy, Abbie and Katey there? Why not Kendra or Jessa or anyone of the other Duggar girls? I feel like some of the more toxic corners of the snark community can have an affect on you and make you think that if someone's not in a photo there's been a big falling out or something. And I think some of those corners are trying to manifest negativity in these people's lives as well. Whereas really I'm just glad that these girls (particularly Joy) have lots of good friends and lots of support around them after the year they've had (and really just in general). And it's nice that Esther is close with the Duggar girls too now that she doesn't live close to her husband's family and lives even further away from her own family. I imagine that can be hard for her and she's misses them a lot.

It doesn't make sense to me why the channel would string them along for 2 more months though. Presumably they filmed a bit more and I believe they announced when the new season would premiere only a couple days before they announced the cancellation if I'm remembering right. Maybe they really did just take a long time to make a decision over whether to cancel but I feel there has to be something that's come out more recently

I'm confused (not American here), everyone is listing Carlin's IG George Floyd story as possibly being a reason why the show has been cancelled. But it didn't seem to be that big of an incident?? It was only 1 story & was deleted within an hour. Was there some big reaction to it that I missed? Talk about it quieted down after a couple of days, a new baby or engagement get more talk. The GF statement shouldn't have been made, but did it really create enough backlash to cancel BUB 2 months later?

That's the hardest part of WOACB's post for me to believe, it didn't have nearly as much backlash as their participation in Jan 6th. Maybe it was a straw that broke the camel's back sort of thing rather than an isolated incident. Like a "guys, we kept you on after you went to the capitol for the insurrection, told you to clean up your act, then you did this bullshit?? you're too much of a liability, good bye" sort of thing.

I would also think there might be something else involved that we don't know about yet.

Maybe it's just my conspiracy brain taking over but I feel like there has to be some sort of scandal here. Why waste money, time, and resources on filming content for months and months to then not air it on TV which is presumably where channels make their money back through advertising. Otherwise why not just cancel the show after this season has aired. Every comment on the Instagram post was someone saying they will be cancelling their UpTV subscription because BuB was the only thing they watched on there which isn't surprising because BuB was easily the most popular show on that channel by far. From a business perspective it seems like a terrible decision so the only way it makes sense to me is if there is a scandal we don't know about yet. Or maybe my bar for fundies is just that low.
