sooo I tend to horde brushes, like, a lot. it’s been a slowly growing collection here, but now I’ve gotten to the point where I literally have next to no room and I desperately have to delete some. BUT I’m too paranoid of the fact that I’ll need one of them again some day. so I decided to dump ‘em all somewhere!
this is basically a reference for me in the future in case I need to remember That One Brush That Did A Thing that I may have deleted, but I figure I might as well also share them all since I’m saving them anyway and maybe someone will find something they like. you can take any of them if they interest you, and feel free to change ‘em as you see fit.
most of them aren’t mine, as I’ve basically always just swiped settings from a bunch of different places, so I have no idea where most of these came from. whoops!!
if you don’t have the texture/blotmap/whatever: I unfortunately don’t have a link to where I got all of mine, but most of them are here. if something’s missing, well, google’s your pal and I’m sure you can find ‘em.
anyway they’re under the cut. warning: there is. a lot. let’s go.
This is the brush that I use for the lineart/sketch : D
I think you all can guess what the settings (I don’t know how to call it lmao) say by looking at the placement?? I translated the things that I considered more important or harder to know what they mean. Send me a message if you don’t understand something :’D
Would you mind sharing your brush settings? Or maybe you already did and I just didn't see it
I can share my SAI brushes nonnie, the Photoshop ones are a bit trickier because I use lots :’D this is the one I use for clean lines (although the ones in the example aren’t clean lol):
and this is what I use for sketching and rough shadings:
in photoshop, for painting, I tend to use hard, square-ish brushes, with full opacity and transfer linked to pen pressure. Hope it helps!
The sketch brush is actually my lineart AND coloring brush. You can change the density if you want some texture to it. I never mess with the blending/dilution/persistence on this one because I’ve adapted to how it blends and such.
The Slimy brush is used mostly for soft shading and the occasional gradient. Oh! and I make some cool clouds with it. Try it out!
The Marker brush is my sketching brush, and sometimes I use it for lineart. This brush is hard to get used to, but once you do get used to it. you’ll be having tons of fun with it. The squared off shape of it can be challenging to work with, but it’s a good learning experience!
If you have any questions about these, let me know!
A handful of people were asking for these again, so I actually screenshoted them this time with examples! Props to the people who know the characters I used for this!
Hello! I was just watching your Hal speedpaint and was wonder what your brush settings are for the brush you used. It looks real smooth
sure thing!
it’s one of the standard brushes you get when downloading sai I think, and I don’t remember if I made any tweaks or not oops
I prefer to draw on a dark background with the lines on shade, it gives this pretty neat “burned” effect which also helps making the colors underneath look more vibrant
