Plot: 23 years ago, nine year old Lizabeau was taken from her family by the Troll King’s army to either serve as a protector for his kingdom or as a sacrifice. Now a grown woman, she still serves in his army as a protector. But not for his kingdom. Lizabeau stops the troll army from kidnapping as many children as she can, while protecting the others in his service.

Until one day she spies a man in the water, clinging to debris and ready to be swallowed up by the sea.

In Storybrooke, Maine, the Dark Curse is finally broken after 28 years. And Lizzie French remembers. She remembers her husband, Owain Lawgoch, now Owen Kendrick, president of the City Council. Lizzie runs to find him, only to have a purple mist descend over the town and swallow him up, finishing the job the sea failed to do all those years ago. Only his wedding ring and cellphone remain.

How are they supposed to find their happy ending when fate seems determined to keep them apart?

Fairy Tale Bio:

Owain was raised as a soldier and a leader from a young age, taught strict morals and ethics and diplomacy by his parents. He was a natural at diplomacy, but had to work hard at becoming a soldier, much like his father.

When he was only 9 years old his mother was killed in battle and Owain fought hard to become someone she would’ve been proud to call her son. He studied hard, learned new languages, and worked hard during training sessions with his mentor, a knight named Louis who also helped him learn French.

While fighting a fierce battle at sea defending an allied kingdom, Owain was thrown into the water and watched as his ship sank with his father and many friends aboard still. Owain drifted for days, in and out of consciousness, until he was rescued. In his delirium, he believed he’d been rescued by Branwen, the Goddess of True Love.

After a few days of being nursed back to health, he realised Lizabeau wasn’t a literal Goddess, but he was still pretty sure she was the embodiment of True Love. The pair spent weeks together while she helped him regain his health, with him asking her about herself and where he was. Finally, she admitted he was on the outskirts of the Troll King’s kingdom and that she had been enslaved to the Troll King as a child. She confessed that she couldn’t leave, lest she endanger the others, so she stayed and kept them safe, and did her best to prevent as many kidnappings as she could.

Owain was furious. 

Lizabeau, however, persuaded him to contain his anger and focus on getting better; she’d been where she was for years and survived, she could survive a while longer until he was well. 

She kept him safe and hidden, with him teaching her Welsh and falling more in love with her every day he spent with her.

As soon as he was better, Lizabeau urged him to leave and, while he agreed, he swore he’d return with an army to save her.

Owain went back home and rallied as many soldiers as he could to free Lizabeau and the others.

On his return, he and his army - with Lizabeau’s help - liberated the captives and defeated the Troll King.

Owain and Lizabeau were married as they helped return the captives to their homes.

Storybrooke Bio:

Owen Kendrick is the President of the Storybrooke City Council and one of the few members not in Regina Mills’s pocket. Tired of an inept representative, Owen ran for City Council in Storybrooke and won by a landslide. He ran on a platform of fairness and equality, and the same ethics landed him the position of City Council President.

As a member of the City Council, he frequently works with the Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Graham Humbert. If Graham isn’t available, Owen flat-out refuses to deal with his Deputy, Lizzie French. For reasons he doesn’t fully understand, Lizzie brings out the worst in him and unless he cuts their interactions short, he’s in for a fight.

His biggest frustration at work is Regina blocking efforts passed by the Council, citing budget constraints. His second biggest is Regina herself - more than once he’s had to refute her advances and attempts at seducing him.

Owen has a cabin out in the forest that he built for himself, his sanctuary away from his near daily troubles. When he’s not at home, you’ll find him in his cabin doing renovations or relaxing by the fire pit with a beer.

Fairy Tale Bio:

Lizabeau grew up with her mother (Colette), father (Maurice), and younger sister (Belle). Lizzie often got into scrapes protecting people, like her little sister, from bullies. Her parents did their best to get her to stop fighting, but it was all for naught. Even as a child, she had this innate sense of justice and nobody was going to stop her from protecting those who needed it.

She would also find ways to get out, despite her parents attempting to keep her safe from the Ogres. Lizzie was never afraid, just full of curiosity and a thirst for adventure. One day on one of her outings, she was taken from her family by trolls, who made it look like she’d been taken by Ogres. Her parents searched far and wide, and when they found signs of an Ogre attack, they were devastated. They vowed to protect Belle from the same fate.

The Troll King’s army taught her how to fight to defend his kingdom alongside other kidnapped children. As an adult, Lizzie feigned loyalty and remained with the trolls to keep others safe, people she considered to be her brothers and sisters. She did her best to shield people from the Troll King’s punishments, hiding acts of rebellion and taking the blame for things she didn’t do to redirect the punishments.

One day when she was patrolling the beaches, she saw a man out in the water and rushed in to save him. This man was Owain Lawgoch, ruler of a far off kingdom. Owain had been injured in a battle at sea and thrown into the water, drifting on debris from the ship. Lizzie kept him safe and took him somewhere the trolls wouldn’t find him to nurse him back to health in secret. As time went on, though, the pair found they couldn’t deny their feelings and fell in love.

As soon as Owain was better, she urged him to leave and, while he agreed, he swore he’d return with an army to save her.

Owain was true to his word.

On his return, he and his army - with Lizzie’s help - liberated the captives and defeated the Troll King.

Lizzie and Owain were married as they helped return the captives to their homes.

Storybrooke Bio:

Lizzie works for the Storybrooke Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy, alongside Graham Humbert. She and Graham get along well, and Lizzie considers him to be a good friend. While the job is mostly boring as not much happens in Storybrooke, she’s happy to be protecting her community and those she cares about. 

The only downside is when City Council President, Owen Kendrick, visits. Owen is dismissive toward her and only speaks to Graham about his business. The pair often end up fighting if Graham’s not around.

In her spare time, Lizzie works as a lifeguard with the Storybrooke Volunteer Lifeguard Association and enjoys quiet nights at home where she can get engrossed in her favourite books. She rarely visits with her estranged father, Moe, who she blames for her sister’s death.

She makes a deal with Rumplestiltskin that she will travel to a dangerous land & retrieve a golden apple from a tree in exchange for a cure for her mother's illness.  She agrees and travels to collect the apples. When she picks apples from the tree it releases a prince from an evil curse. The prince says he will marry her. He has magic that heals her mother and in the bliss of marriage & her mother being healed she forgets her deal with Rumple… but Rumple never forgets a deal
