Formula E Says the New GEN3 Evo is Designed to Break Records
Tumblr media
Just a few days before the Monaco E-Prix, Formula E announced the debut of what is currently the fastest electric race car around, the GEN3 Evo. Described as a "record-breaking machine," the new FIA single seater will officially make its mark in the 2025 Formula E World Championship. Jeff Dodds, Chief Executive Officer, Formula E states: "The GEN3 Evo heralds a ground-breaking chapter in the evolution of Formula E, embodying our dedication to innovation and high performance achieved sustainably. Featuring unprecedented acceleration and an advanced aerodynamic design, the car that I had the honour of unveiling in Monaco is set to intensify the thrill of our racing, captivating our drivers and fans around the world with truly superior capabilities and performance." The vehicle was developed by specialists from Formula E and the FIA, and marks a significant leap in electric racing technology, capable of accelerating 0-60mph, 30% faster than a current F1 car, and 36% faster than the GEN3 car. It also brings increased performance with a 2% gain over the previous GEN3 model, translating to faster lap times, in addition to a sleeker and more aggressive body kit which improves aerodynamics and durability for closer racing. For the first time in Formula E, all-wheel drive delivers increased control and grip during crucial moments like qualifying and ATTACK MODE; Finally, optimized tires with improved grip are partly made from sustainable materials. The all-new GEN3 Evo builds on the impressive foundation of its predecessor with features designed for faster, tighter racing. Formula E claims that the newer model retains the title of the fastest Formula E car ever, thanks to its 200mph top speed. The car also boasts a 90% efficient electric motor, as well as regenerative braking that generates nearly half the race's needed energy, and a net zero carbon footprint throughout its lifecycle, from ethical material sourcing to second-life battery plans. Furthermore, the GEN3 Evo improves on fast-charging capabilities, at least as far as competitive EVs are concerned. Speaking on the unveiling, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem states: “The FIA and Formula E have been working hard on the development process of this new GEN3 Evo race car, which represents another significant leap forward in electric racing technology. I would like to thank both FIA and Formula E teams for the hard work which underlines our shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of sustainable motorsport, while delivering competitive racing.” Read the full article

The OnePlus Pad Go Finally Arrives in Europe
Tumblr media
A while back, OnePlus announced the launch of the OnePlus Pad Go, a more affordable variant of its flagship Android tablet. With that being said, the tablet was only made available via a limited release in select regions, although that all changes today - the company finally announced the availability of the OnePlus Pad Go for European regions, alongside the launch of the new OnePlus Watch 2 Nordic Blue edition. Speaking about the tablet's launch, OnePlus Europe CEO Bingo Liu states: As a premium Android brand, our latest product strategy is centred around building a powerful and connected ecosystem of high-quality OnePlus devices across smartphones, tablets, wearables and audio... Europe represents a key region for us, and we are committed to providing our community here with a holistic fast & smooth product experience... The expansion of our tablet offering with the OnePlus Pad Go, further enhances our mission of making great technology accessible to all.” In terms of design, the OnePlus Pad Go doesn't stray too much from the stylings of its more expensive sibling. It retains a rounded rectangle look with considerably-curved corners, as well as the camera placement on the rear panel, a stark contrast to the myriad of Android tablets on the market which tend to place the rear cameras on the upper left corner. For audio, the tablet uses a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. For performance, OnePlus has equipped the tablet with a MediaTek Helio G99 chip, aided by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of expandable storage, meaning you'll get to use your micro SD cards on the device. Powering the tablet is an 8,000 mAh battery, a common sight on most Android tablets these days - it also features support for 33W fast-charging using OnePlus' Super VOOC charging tech. As for display hardware, the OnePlus Pad Go features a large 11-inch IPS LCD screen with a 1720 x 2408 pixel resolution. It's not an OLED panel, but given the lower price tag this is an understandable choice. The large display should be enough for most users who intend to use the tablet for media consumption, social media, as well as web browsing. The display also features a 90Hz refresh rate, a much-welcome feature especially for the price. There's also a pair of 8MP cameras on the back and front - no ultra-wide or telephoto sensors on here, although those are usually reserved for smartphones and ultra high-end tablets. For buyers who are interested in OnePlus' budget tablet, you can grab the Pad Go during the Early Bird period (April 17th-22nd) and pay a €1 deposit to get €30 off your purchase. Then on April 23rd, the Pad Go goes on general sale with a €30 discount, and you can combine these offers for a total saving of €60. Read the full article

The OnePlus Watch 2 Launches in a Special Colour Variant for European Markets
Tumblr media
The OnePlus Watch 2 is undoubtedly one of the best Wear OS devices that we've seen this year, and it looks like OnePlus is looking to bank on the Watch 2's popularity with the launch of a new colour variant, which makes its way to buyers in Europe. Dubbed the "Nordic Blue" edition, the new OnePlus Watch 2 variant joins its other "standard-looking" siblings in OnePlus' smart wearable lineup. With that being said, the Nordic Blue watch also launches alongside the OnePlus Pad Go, a more affordable version of the OnePlus Pad. Commenting on the launch, Bingo Liu, CEO for OnePlus Europe states: “As a premium Android brand, our latest product strategy is centred around building a powerful and connected ecosystem of high-quality OnePlus devices across smartphones, tablets, wearables and audio... Europe represents a key region for us, and we are committed to providing our community here with a holistic fast & smooth product experience. The addition of the latest OnePlus Watch 2 Nordic Blue Edition underscores the importance of the European region and our commitment of bringing locally relevant products. The expansion of our tablet offering with the OnePlus Pad Go, further enhances our mission of making great technology accessible to all.” OnePlus says that the Watch 2 Nordic Blue Edition is inspired by the "Scandinavian beauty and design aesthetics," and represents a perfect blend of style and functionality. The design draws from the Nordic Ocean and nautical hues, with contrasting royal blues and bright whites, and an exclusive two-tone blue GMT dial which resembles classic marine GMT chronometers. The watch also comes with an all-new hybrid leather strap, which combines fluororubber and genuine leather for a stylish look and skin-friendly feel. In terms of other specifications, the OnePlus Watch 2 comes with a 2.5D sapphire crystal cover, which adds a bit of durability against scratches in addition to a MIL-STD-810H US standard rating, as well as IP68 and 5ATM water resistance. The AMOLED touch display measures 1.43 inches, and gets really bright at up to 1,000 nits. Inside, the Watch 2 runs on the Snapdragon W5 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which works in tandem with the BES 2700 MCU Efficiency chipset. As per OnePlus, this setup ensures that the watch will have no trouble with everyday performance and power efficiency. Speaking of power, the device packs a 500mAh battery and can last up to 100 hours of regular use in Smart Mode, or up to 48 hours with more frequent and heavy usage. For charging, the Watch does support 7.5W VOOC fast charging that fully replenishes the battery in just an hour. https://youtu.be/_zoyUkiZcaY In terms of pricing, the OnePlus Watch 2 Nordic Blue edition comes priced at  £329 / €379. Buyers can pre-order in the first 48 hours (April 23rd to May 25th) and subscribe to save up to €80 and get Free Buds 3 earphones included, or pre-order between April 29th and May 3rd to save €30 and get Free Buds 3 earphones included, or buy the Watch 2 together with the OnePlus 12 to get 20% off the phone's price. Nothing Finally Unveils its Latest Wireless Earbuds
Tumblr media
Before it started selling smartphones, Carl Pei's Nothing brand had its humble beginnings with the introduction of the Nothing Ear (1), a pair of wireless earbuds which set the tone for the company's future hardware releases, especially in terms of design and aesthetics. With that in mind, Nothing recently announced its latest pair of wireless earbuds as the new Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a), a more affordable model. https://youtu.be/f2C2pTOqScg As expected, the earbuds pack features and refinements that improve upon older models in the brand's audio lineup, in addition to integrating AI functionality via ChatGPT. As per a statement from CEO Carl Pei: “By integrating ChatGPT with Nothing earbuds, including the new Nothing Ear and Ear (a), and with Nothing OS, we’ve taken our first steps towards change, and there’s more to come... As always, we look forward to feedback from our community.” Nothing Ear (2024) For the new Nothing Ear, the company has used the same branding and design as on its earlier flagship earbuds - it's not the Nothing Ear "3" or "2a", just simply the Ear. It even comes with a design similar to Ears 1 and 2. But as far as upgrades go, a lot of the new stuff can be found - or instead heard - inside the earbuds. Nothing says that the new Ear has its most advanced driver system, featuring a custom 11 mm dynamic driver, including a ceramic diaphragm for a rich sound and crisp-sounding highs. Nothing also says that the dual chamber design has been improved, with two additional vents to improve airflow and more precise sound quality. The new Nothing Ear supports both LHDC (Low Latency High-Definition Audio Codec) 5.0 and LDAC codec for wireless streaming over Bluetooth and powerful audio, reaching up to 1 Mbps 24 bit/192 kHz with LHDC 5.0 and up to 990 kbps and frequencies up to 24 bit/96 kHz with LDAC. Nothing also allows users to fine-tune their earbuds via a built-in equaliser available within the Nothing X app. The app includes features such as Q Factor and frequency control and separate profiles for different genres. Thanks to the Ear’s compact custom driver, users get a longer battery life of 40.5 hours after a full charge with the charging case or 8.5 hours of non-stop playback. For quick power-ups, the Ear supports wireless charging at 2.5W. Ten minutes of fast charge provides ten hours of listening time with the case. The Nothing Ear likewise supports a new Smart ANC algorithm, which can check for noise leakage between the earbuds and the ear canal to adjust noise cancellation accordingly. This is in addition to Adaptive ANC, which automatically applies one of 3 noise cancellation levels (high, medium, and low). Finally, there's also improved Clear Voice Technology, which uses a new talk mic design, allowing for less obstruction when speaking on a call. Nothing Ear (a) The more affordable of the two earbuds, the Nothing Ear (a) stands out thanks to a slightly different look, which is emphasized even more thanks to a new bright yellow colourway, something that's rarely seen on Nothing's hardware line (which mainly revolves around black and white). The Ear (a) also features a smaller charging case, which is another difference from Nothing's mainline wireless earbuds. Despite its lower price point, it offers essential features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and long battery life - a quick 10-minute charge can deliver up to 10 hours of playtime. With the latest Nothing OS update and ChatGPT via Nothing phone, users can access AI functions directly via their Nothing earbuds, including the new Ear and Ear (a). Even better, Nothing plans to add more ways to interact with ChatGPT, like sharing screenshots and using custom Nothing widgets. If you want to grab Nothing's latest earbuds, you might want to order them now—the Ear and Ear (a) are priced at $149 and $99, respectively. Pre-orders are open now. Sales start a bit later, on the 22nd of April. Read the full article

Sony Revamps its "BRAVIA" Brand for a True Home Cinema Experience
Tumblr media
At a time, Sony's BRAVIA line of products was at the top of the industry, offering viewers a more refined approach to home entertainment with premium hardware and features. With that in mind, the company is looking to breathe new life into the BRAVIA brand with a lineup of new TVs and audio systems packed with enticing features for enthusiasts. CHECK OUT: Sony’s New ULT POWER SOUND Hardware is Sonically Impressive More specifically, Sony is unifying TVs, soundbars, and other home audio products under the BRAVIA brand, with the goal of acting as a one-stop shop for customers on the hunt for a complete entertainment package with matching design and features for a cohesive, fully-cinematic home viewing experience. The BRAVIA Line features seven new products across the BRAVIA TV and BRAVIA Theatre Home audio systems. Sony's new high-end TVs come in three different models consisting of the BRAVIA 9 QLED (mini LED, available in 85”, 75”), the BRAVIA 8 OLED (available in 77”, 65”, 55”), as well as the BRAVIA 7 QLED (mini LED, available in 85”, 75”, 65”, 55”). Meanwhile, the new home audio selection includes the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 9, BRAVIA Theatre Bar 8, BRAVIA Theatre Quad, and BRAVIA Theatre U. Yoshihiro Ono, Head of the Home Entertainment Business Unit at Sony, states: “Building on the decades of operating at the heart of the professional film production equipment development as well as film production and distribution, Sony is in a unique position that allows it to utilise its unparalleled film industry, professional equipment, and consumer electronics experience with its pioneering BRAVIA TVs and BRAVIA Theatre home audio devices... We’re excited to launch the new BRAVIA TV and BRAVIA Theatre home audio products that usher in new exciting features, elevating the way you can watch films at home to new heights." Sony says that its newest BRAVIA TVs can intelligently adjust colour, contrast, and brightness for a brighter home viewing environment while staying "faithful" to the creator's vision. Features like high peak brightness and precise backlight control make this possible, allowing viewers to see details even in bright scenes, especially in Studio Calibrated modes developed with streaming services. According to the company, the TVs come with dedicated hardware, including an XR Processor which analyzes data for "ultimate realism," an XR Backlight Master Drive that precisely controls LEDs for authentic contrast and shadow detail, "High Peak Luminance" for bright and natural scenes, as well as X-Anti Reflection and X-Wide Angle that reduce glare and provide better viewing angles. Of course, there's also support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. For sound, the BRAVIA line also features "Acoustic Multi-Audio+", which, according to Sony, is the World's first TV system with a built-in Beam Tweeter and Frame Tweeter for cinematic surround sound. There's also "Voice Zoom 3", which uses AI to amplify or reduce dialogue volume for clear conversations, and a new "Acoustic Center Sync" feature, which integrates soundbars with TVs to create a unified soundscape where sound appears to come from the screen. With the exception of the BRAVIA Theatre U, Sony's new audio products also feature proprietary 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, which creates multiple phantom speakers in locations where there are no actual physical speakers, such as above or to the side. This allows for a 360-degree spatial sound experience tailored specifically for a home setting, with a wide sound field that surrounds viewers with audio from various directions mirroring the cinema experience, without having to install physical speakers on the ceiling or walls. Users can also install the BRAVIA Connect app on their smart device to control specific settings for sound, audio products, and other related features. BRAVIA TVs and BRAVIA Theatre products are "IMAX Enhanced" certified, supporting select titles on SONY PICTURES CORE (formerly BRAVIA CORE) and Disney+. SONY PICTURES CORE will also offer a select Crunchyroll anime series for subscribers with an included streaming package. Existing Netflix and SONY PICTURES CORE modes are joined by a new Prime Video Calibrated Mode, which supports an even wider range of content. Read the full article

Motorola's Edge 50 Phones Make their Debut
Tumblr media
Motorola recently announced the launch of its latest batch of premium smartphones under its Edge branding, the Motorola Edge 50 series. The phones pack some lovely features for varying price segments, although they come with new tricks, such as Motorola's "Moto AI," which gives users access to GenAI tools from their handset. With that being said, let's take a look at the new devices. Motorola Edge 50 Pro First Look https://youtu.be/KAYSMy-xFF8 Motorola Edge 50 Ultra First is the most premium of the bunch, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. The phone packs a massive 6.7-inch Super HD+ (2712 x 1220) pOLED display with a super smooth 144Hz refresh rate, which is wrapped inside a chassis that features an IP68 water resistance rating, in addition to a sandblasted aluminium frame, and a back crafted from vegan leather and real wood. It comes in a variety of stylish colour options, including Forest Grey (Vegan Leather), Nordic Wood (Wood), and Peach Fuzz (Vegan Leather). As for performance, the handset runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, which runs with up to 16GB of RAM alongside a maximum 1TB storage configuration. Powering the Edge 50 Ultra is a decent-sized 4500 mAh battery that also supports 125W fast-charging speeds, up to 50W wireless charging and 10W wireless power sharing. For imaging, the handset comes with a versatile triple-camera system on the back. It is headlined by a powerful 50MP main sensor with a large 1/1.3" optical format and OIS, accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide sensor with macro vision capabilities and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There's also a front-facing camera with a 50MP sensor for high-quality selfies and video calls. Motorola Edge 50 Pro Up next is the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, which slots just below the Edge 50 Ultra - this is most evident with the phone's chipset, the decidedly midrange Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. It also tones down the RAM and storage configuration a bit, going down to 12GB and 512GB, respectively. Interestingly, it packs a very similar display configuration with the same 6.7-inch screen size and resolution and is available in Black Beauty (Vegan Leather), Luxe Lavender (Vegan Leather), and a special edition Moonlight Pearl. Notably, Japan will receive a Vanilla Cream (Vegan Leather) option. Things are a bit different when it comes to cameras, though—the Edge 50 Pro packs a triple-camera system with a 50MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultrawide sensor with macro vision capabilities, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom; the front-facing camera also has a 50MP resolution. As with the Ultra, it also comes with a 4500 mAh capacity battery with 125W charging speeds. Motorola Edge 50 Fusion The third phone in the bunch, the Edge 50 Fusion, takes the chip configuration one step lower with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. This time, though, the Edge 50 Fusion has a larger 5,000 mAh battery inside. On the front is a 6.7-inch pOLED display, which packs a curved-edge panel. As a more affordable phone, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion ditches the triple-array camera instead of a dual-camera system on the back. This includes a 50MP primary sensor and a secondary 13MP ultra-wide sensor with macro vision, complemented by a front-facing 32MP camera. The phone is available in Forest Blue with a PMMA back, Hot Pink with a luxurious Vegan Suede finish, and Marshmallow Blue with a stylish Vegan Leather back. Pricing and Availability Motorola is launching new phones across select EMEA countries, including the UK. The top-of-the-line Edge 50 Ultra will be available from mid-May for £849 and comes with a launch promotion that includes a free pair of Moto buds+ worth £129. The mid-range Edge 50 Pro will be available earlier, starting April 16th, for £599 and will also include free Moto buds+ with purchase. The budget-friendly Edge 50 Fusion will arrive in mid-May for £349 and comes with a free pair of standard Moto buds worth £49. Read the full article

Motorola's Edge 50 Phones Makes their Debut
Adobe is Bringing even More AI to Premiere Pro
Tumblr media
With generative AI being one of the biggest current trends in modern hardware and software products these days, it was only a matter of time before we'd see GenAI go beyond simple photo corrections and grammar class essays - in fact, the folks over at Adobe recently announced that it will be infusing one of its biggest products with a massive boost of AI capabilities, all geared towards content creation. More specifically, Adobe stated that its flagship Premiere Pro video editor will soon feature GenAI tools, which Adobe says will allow for improved workflows and versatility when it comes to content production and creation. As per an official statement from Ashley Still, Senior Vice President, Creative Product Group at Adobe: “Adobe is reimagining every step of video creation and production workflow to give creators new power and flexibility to realize their vision... By bringing generative AI innovations deep into core Premiere Pro workflows, we are solving real pain points that video editors experience every day, while giving them more space to focus on their craft.” With that said, Adobe is working on integrating a new video model within its existing Firefly family. For those unfamiliar, Firefly is essentially Adobe's own AI model designed towards content creation and more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6de4akFiNYM This provides editors with a suite of AI-powered tools designed to streamline everyday tasks, including tools such as "Generative Extend," which adds frames to existing clips for precise edit timing and smooth transitions, "Object Addition & Removal" which allows users to select and track on-screen objects for seamless removal or replacements, and "Text to Video" which lets users create new footage based on text prompts and reference images. In addition to video, the new AI features also extend to audio production. Adobe says that the GenAI tools for audio will include support for Interactive Fade Handles which lets users easily create audio transitions by simply dragging clip handles to achieve the desired audio fade, Sound badges with audio tagging that enables AI to automatically categorize audio clips as dialogue, music, sound effects, or ambience, and adding a new icon for instant access to relevant editing tools. There's also "Effect Badges" which allows an editor to quickly identify clips with effects, apply new ones, and access effect parameters directly from the timeline with new visual indicators, and redesigned waveforms with support for intelligent resizing and vibrant colours, which Adobe says improves the visual clarity of timelines for a smoother editing workflow. With all that being said, users can expect the new tools to arrive on Adobe Premiere Pro around May this year. Read the full article

Tech News Roundup: Goodbye Google One VPN, Hello Leica Phone, and More Pixel Leaks!
Tumblr media
It's Friday again, which means that we're ending the week with a quick look at some of the biggest tech news over the past few days. The consumer electronics industry is never not busy, and as such there have been some rather interesting developments, both in terms of software and hardware products. With that said, let's take a look at some of the biggest news in tech this week. Bye-bye, Google One VPN One of the biggest advantages of subscribing to the Google One service is that you got access to VPN services, which does come in handy for users who want to access content and such that they wouldn't normally be able to due to geographic or licensing restrictions. With that said though, it's reported that Google has informed subscribers that it will be discontinuing the included VPN service with Google One as not many people were using it. However, Pixel 7 and 8 owners will still be able to use the built-in VPN on their handsets, which will supposedly last for five years. Meet the Leica Leitz 3 While Leica is more known for its line of consumer and pro-grade cameras, the manufacturer also makes a region-exclusive line of smartphones. In fact, it's on its third one now, aptly named the Leica Leitz 3. Exclusive for buyers in Japan, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, and includes other specs such as a single 47.2MP 1-inch CMOS camera, in addition to a 12.6MP selfie camera, a 5000 mAh battery, and Android 14 onboard. Magic Editor Arrives for more Phones Despite being described as an exclusive feature for Google's Pixel 8 and 8 Pro handsets, the company has announced that it will be bringing its Magic Editor AI tool to more users, and will be accessible via the Google Photos app. There's a catch though - the editor is free to use unlimitedly for Pixel device users, while other smartphone owners will only be limited to 10 edit saves per month, unless they pay for a Google One subscription. More Pixel 8a Leaks Emerge As has become the standard tradition for nearly all Google smartphones, the company's upcoming Pixel 8a handset has once again been leaked online, this time with a fresh coat of paint. Several product renders show the Pixel 8a in several different colour variants, which include Mint, Bay, Porcelain, and Obsidian. It's also rumoured that the 8a will feature a matte rear panel, somewhat similar to the Pixel 4a series from a few years back. You can view the full images here. Messenger now Supports HD Photos One of the biggest complaints about Facebook Messenger is that photo files sent via the app tend to look unflattering due to aggressive file compression, although this no longer seems to be the case thanks to a new update. Meta recently announced that users can now send HD photos via a simple toggle within the app; users will also be able to send files larger than 100 MB. Read the full article

The Honor 90 Smart Launches for UK Buyers
Tumblr media
Honor's continued efforts to step out of Huawei's shadow and establish itself as a serious contender in the industry have been impressive so far. With handsets such as its Magic line of flagships and foldables, it's clear that it's been able to compete with the big names in the high-end smartphone market. At the same time, it's also stepped up its midrange handset range, as seen with the new Honor 90 Smart. Meant to take on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy A25, Pixel 7a and Motorola's E-series phones, the Honor 90 Smart is priced at £199, making it one of the more affordable Android phones on the market right now. With that said though, don't let its price fool you - the Honor 90 Smart does pack some nice surprises, especially when it comes to hardware. Design and Display First up is the phone's display, which comes at a whopping 6.8 inches, placing it close to small tablet territory. Unfortunately though there's no AMOLED panel on here, as Honor has chosen to stick with a TFT LCD display. It is pretty sharp thanks to its 2412x1080 pixel resolution, and does come with a smooth 90hz display. The phone also comes in Emerald Green and Midnight Black colour variants, which pretty much come with the same hardware design language as on recent Honor midrangers. Internal Specs and Software Inside, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset, backed by 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This memory configuration might not be that impressive in 2024, but again we go back to the phone's starting price which is one of its main highlights. Like a lot of Android midrangers though, Honor says that the phone features an option to boost the amount of RAM available, which brings it up to 8GB from 4GB. For software, the phone comes with Android 13 and runs on Magic OS, which is Honor's custom Android interface and offers some Honor-exclusive apps and services.. Powering the phone is a 5,330 mAh battery, which is pretty large and should be enough to last for most users - in fact, Honor claims that it can support up to 16.6 hours of video streaming, 17.9 hours of social media browsing or 37.8 hours of calls all on a single charge. Camera Hardware Embedded within the display is a selfie camera with a resolution of 8MP, while the back of the phone houses the main camera setup consisting of a 108 MP primary camera (f/1.75), 2MP Macro Camera (F2.4), as well as a 2MP Depth Camera (F2.4). Video on the main camera maxes out at FHD resolution, another limitation set forth by the phone's pricing. Pricing and Availability The Honor 90 Smart will be available to purchase in the UK via Honor's official website, as well as third-party retailers including Argos, Amazon, Currys, Very and Vodafone for £199.99 (as mentioned earlier). If you purchase it directly from Honor, buyers can also receive FREE Earbuds X6 (worth £39.99), subject to available stocks. Read the full article

Panasonic's LUMIX S5II and S5IIX are Scheduled to get Major Software Updates
Tumblr media
One of the best things about modern cameras is that they're now a bit "smarter" compared to their predecessors. Yes, they still lack a lot of the functionality found on smartphones, although better-designed software as well as wireless capabilities mean that improvements and updates can be downloaded onto your camera in a more timely and efficient manner. With that in mind, Panasonic recently announced that it will be rolling out a firmware update to two of its Lumix models, namely the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX. More specifically, the updates will come with firmware V3.0 for the S5II, and V2.0 for the S5IIX. Panasonic says that the new upgrades will focus on improved efficiency and performance for photo and video, in addition to creative control for users. The updates are scheduled to arrive on 22nd of April, and addresses creator feedback by streamlining production and post-production workflows. But what exactly can users expect with the update? File Transfer and Video Proxy For one, users can now easily upload their media files online. The update brings native camera-to-cloud connectivity, so JPEG and RAW files, as well as proxy videos can be directly uploaded to Adobe's Frame.io platform, either via Wi-Fi or USB tethering. This allows for real-time remote feedback during shoots and collaborative editing using whatever software a user might prefer. The update also brings over support for proxy video recording, which allows the camera to record a low-bitrate proxy file, and is saved alongside high-resolution video. With this feature, users can transfer files much faster in addition to more instantaneous editing and other post-production tasks, all without compromising the original footage. Autofocus and Stabilization Panasonic also says that the firmware upgrades will bring real-time autofocus enhancements, thanks to the Phase Hybrid Autofocus system. The update will allow for improved subject recognition, which will include people, animal eyes, as well as vehicles including cars and motorcycles - this makes capturing movement a lot more easy. For stabilization, the updates will come with improvements for the electronic image stabilization built into the cameras. Users will be able to tap into a new high stabilization mode, which is aimed at drastically reducing camera shake when recording videos handheld. There's also perspective distortion correction, which handles warping that usually occurs as a side-effect of using wide-angle lenses. Pre-Burst Shooting With SH Pre-Burst Shooting, users can capture split-second moments thanks to retroactive burst shooting. This can be done by half-pressing the shutter button, allowing the camera to pre-record frames and giving users more opportunities to take shots even before actually "taking" them. Panasonic hopes that the upcoming firmware update will provide creators with a more efficient workflow, as well as access to improved performance, and expanded creative possibilities all on their camera. The updates are of course free, and should begin to arrive for more users and regions starting on April 22nd. Read the full article

Acer's Newest Laptops go all-in on Gaming and AI
Tumblr media
When it comes to modern computing, there's no doubt that Acer is one of the biggest brands in the industry thanks to its many years of developing some of the most impressive machines available on the market. With that in mind, the company recently announced a number of new laptop models, all of which come with some rather impressive hardware, and even built-in AI software features. Let's check them out! Predator Helios Neo 14 and Acer Nitro 16 First up we have the Predator Helios Neo 14 and the Acer Nitro 16. Acer's high-end gaming laptops extend beyond the Predator branding (as seen with its Nitro series), although they are specifically tuned for slightly different use cases, mostly in terms of portability. With that said though, both machines are designed to give users the most out of their hardware. As such, the two laptops feature the latest Intel Core and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs which can cater to graphics-intensive usage, in addition to AI-powered graphics features geared for work and play. The laptops also come with WQXGA displays, complete with 165Hz refresh rates and support for 100% of the sRGB colour gamut. As you can probably tell by the name, the Predator Helios Neo 14 is the more backpack-friendly option of the two, thanks to the slightly-smaller 14-inch display. Priced starting at at ÂŁ1,799.99, the laptop is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor; meanwhile, the more affordable Acer Nitro 16 packs a larger display at 16 inches, although you'll find that it runs on an an Intel Core i7 processor - it's priced starting at ÂŁ1,499. Given that the generative AI craze has continued to sweep across the industry with widespread adoption among major manufacturers, Acer has also equipped both laptops with AI-integrated features, such as Acer PurifiedVoice for noise reduction, and even Microsoft Copilot for faster access to assistance. Acer Nitro 14 If you find the Nitro 16 a bit too large for your liking, then Acer also announced the launch of the Nitro 14 - as with the Predator Helios Neo 14, the Nitro's 14-inch display makes it a bit easier to bring along on trips and commutes. For performance, the laptop runs on AMD's Ryzen 8040 processor, which works in tandem with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Unsurprisingly, the Acer Nitro 14 also comes with built-in AI features, such as AMD's Ryzen AI technology, NVIDIA's RTX AI platform, as well as Acer's own suite of AI software such as PurifiedVoice 2.0, Acer PurifiedView keeps you looking sharp on video chats, and a pre-installed copy of Microsoft Copilot in Windows comes pre-installed with a dedicated key for faster access to everyday tasks. The Acer Nitro 14 also includes one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, granting access to hundreds of high-quality PC games. In terms of availability, buyers in the UK can expect the Acer Nitro 14 to arrive sometime in June. As for pricing, the laptop will come in starting at ÂŁ1099 to ÂŁ1399. Read the full article
