Internet mobs will be like "why doesnt anyone just ADMIT when theyre WRONG anymore??!!" and then treat someone like they deserve the death penalty because they said something off-colour on twitter when they were 14
No one will admit that they were wrong if you treat being wrong like its an eternal indictment against them with no chance for rehabilitation

As for Follies, neither of them are ready to go there...
Hi there Neil! This is just a quick and very silly question, but you mentioned Aziraphale likes Stephen Sondheim musicals so I was just wondering which one do you suppose is his favorite if he has one?
Sincerely,
A Very Big Stephen Sondheim Fan Who Is Very Thrilled About This
I think he really likes A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, because he liked Plautus and was a bit sad that Plautus didnât seem to be writing any new plays anymore. He liked Anyone Can Whistle because itâs about belief and forgiveness and he liked Company and A Little Night Music because they seemed to shed some kind of light on the hardness and peculiarity of the human heart. He didnât like Sweeney Todd, he wasnât sure what to make of Assassins although he made a mental note to invite Crowley along to a performance, merrily we roll along he thought was upside down and back to front, he loved Pacific Overtures, was baffled by Passion, and rather enjoyed side-by-side by Sondheim because it felt a little naughty.ďżź These days his favourites alternate between Into The Woods, because itâs about stories, and Sunday In The Park With George although heâs never sure what to make of the Chromalune.

Iâm a SAG-AFTRA strike captain and a member of fandom since forever. And if youâre a fan or consumer who wants to help (and I know many of you already have) it looks like this is the week especially if you are in NYC or LA.
Right now, itâs Sunday November 5, 2023 in the afternoon and SAG-AFTRAâs negotiating committee are still reviewing what AMPTP have claimed is their âlast, best, and finalâ offer. They gave WGA three different offers with this phrasing (the third one was actually the great deal the union agreed to), so we know itâs not last or final, and we donât yet know if itâs best.
But as we wait for official word from the negotiating committee, we must be prepared for our response if this is not the deal we need.
At this point, it sure looks like pickets are going to need to happen tomorrow, Monday, November 6, 2023. And if they are, those pickets may be the most important of the entire strike. Theyâll send a message to the AMPTP, to the media, to our negotiating committee, and to our membership, industry, and union siblings.
If you are in NYC or LA, we need you to find five minutes (or more) of your day and come out an join us tomorrow. If you are a fan or a consumer who has been eager for a way to help, this is gonna be the day. If you can get to a picket line, please come.
Picketing is hard work, but joining a picket for whatever time you have to give us is easy.
The rest of this post is entirely about demystifying what to expect for our allies that havenât been on the line yet.
When you show up at a picket location (thereâs a link to find picket locations attached to this post), youâll see a SAG-AFTRA tent. You should go there and check in.
If youâre in the union, theyâll ask for your membership card. If youâre not, theyâll either have a book for you to enter your info in by hand or a QR code for you to scan to fill out a brief online form.
Theyâll hand you a sign, offer you shirts/hats/pins/stickers (all free and all dependent on what got sent to that site that day), and point out other free stuff they have that you might need â like water, snacks, and ear plugs (it gets loud).
After that, youâll join us on the line. You can chant if you want. You can also bring noisemakers if you want. Sometimes we have dance breaks. At my site we also pause for historical facts about labor history, and have a union song singalong with live music most days.
Take a rest when you need to rest. Stay as long or as short as you want. When you leave, just turn in your sign and take off. No explanations needed.
No one is gonna quiz you on your time commitment, your actorly history, or anything else. Sometimes people are chatty, sometimes people are focused on the task. Both are okay.
Full disclosure: Accessibility has been learn-as-we-go and imperfect. That said, we regularly have wheelchair and other mobility aid users and blind and low-vision people at our pickets. We also have ASL interpreters available at least some of the time. You are welcome, and we will make it work.
If you wanna bring your kids, bring your kids. If you wanna bring you dog/cat/bird/lizard â totally chill if appropriately leashed/contained and we will put SAG shirts on your pet if your your pet wants a shirt and we have appropriate sizes.
Picket schedule and locations for week of November 6 available at this link: https://www.sagaftrastrike.org/picket-schedule-locations (Los Angeles and New York always have stuff scheduled. Other locations are less frequent).

It should 100% be illegal for companies to make you give them your payment information when you sign up for a free trial version of their product. It is not necessary and there is no good fucking reason for them to do it. Itâs blatantly just so they can steal forgetful customersâ money.

This link is now long dead. Please support the official release and buy the 2018 edition of the libretto from a reputable retailer, as it seems to reflect Michael Kunze's ideal vision of the show (three or four things from the original are retained that are typically cut now, but otherwise, it mostly reflects revival-era edits).
So yeah⌠remember when I did a version of the German libretto reflecting the most current cuts? Now in .epub form for your Kindle or other e-reader.
Because I love you all so very much.
(Fangs sold separately.)

Iâve been seeing a lot of anti-Nazi ones, which is great, but I felt like we needed one to show our support for the Jewish community. Â

And while we're on the subject... for as long as Internet Archive's library still exists, start saving you some of that shit now before it goes. This link may help with that. (The link to Adobe Digital Editions in that blog entry may not work, and it's a crucial component. To get that, go here.)
Before I forget, certain books are restricted to patrons with print disabilities. Learn how to get a free account that allows you to save those books as well here.
in the latest cyber-news: the internet archive has lost their case against 4 major publishing houses (verge article). theyâre going to appeal, but this is still a bad outcome. the fate of the internet is currently hanging in the balance because 4 multibillionare publishing groups missed out on like $15 of combined revenue during the pandemic because of the archiveâs online library service. itâs so fucking stupid.
for those who donât know what the internet archive is, itâs a virtual library full of media. books, magazines, recordings, visuals, flash games, websites - a lot of these things either donât exist anymore or cannot be found & bought. heard of the wayback machine? thatâs part of the internet archive. it is the most important website to exist, and i donât say that lightly. if the internet archive goes down, the cultural loss will be immeasurable.
so how can you help?
boycott the publishing companies involved in this. theyâre absolute ghouls, frankly, and donât deserve a penny. the companies involved are harpercollins (imprints), wiley (imprints), penguin random house llc (imprints), and hachette book group (imprints). make sure the websites are set to your location as it may differ worldwide.
learn to torrent. download a torrent client (i recommend transmission), a vpn (i recommend protonvpn - sign up and choose the area thatâs closest to your continent/country), and hit up /r/piracy on reddit for websites. with torrenting, you can get (almost) any media you want for free in high quality, with add-ons such as subtitles, and with no risks of loss. i would also recommend getting into the habit of watching stuff online for free. the less you can pay to a giant corporation, the better.
get into the habit of downloading and archiving materials. find a TB external hard drive, ideally the higher the better. itâll probably cost around $60 for 1TB and continue to go up, but theyâre so so useful. if you canât afford a drive, look for any GB harddrives or memory sticks you have lying around and just fill them up. videos, pdfs, magazines, songs, movies, games - anything you can rip and download and fit on there, do it, because nothing is permanent.
donate to the internet archive. this is the most important option on the list. the IA relies entirely on funding, and itâs going to need more to fight this case. whatever you can donate, do it. i promise itâs helpful.
and finallyâŚ

From a queer elderâŚ
Being queer isnât supposed to be palatable to non-queers.
We donât tick little squares on a checklist of âqueer enoughâ, we obliterate the checklist.
We defy societal norms that say our bodies, families or relationships have to look a certain way.
Queer is the insult we took away from oppressors. Weâre here, weâre queer, get used to it.
The people who hate us will hate us regardless of how palatable we make ourselves.
Stop licking fascist boots by policing queers who are queer in different ways than you.
Oh, someone is bi/pan trans lesbian with he/him pronouns? So what! Theyâre welcome on the rainbow. Their identity doesnât have to make sense to you, it has to make sense to them.
Our identities donât make sense to non-queers. They see us as unnatural and disgusting, so why are you turning around and crapping that same garbage out at your own community??
Once you drive the visible queers underground, the same people who hate us all will target you next. Nobody will defend you because you drove away everybody who would have.
Enough already!
â sincerely, an old queer.

um, hey @staff, Iâve been on his hellsite for over a decade and never reached out like this before but this situation requires it. Thereâs a serious bot following spam problem right now. Itâs worse than the previous spam bot issue.
They pop up in batches of like 10+ and for every block and report more appear and they multiply. today alone I went from 777 followers to 1090 and all of those are bots.
Iâm not even joking. Itâs frustrating, and blocking and reporting takes such a long time when youâre combing through literally hundreds of bots on your follow list tapping through the report and block process
Iâm not the only blog this is happening to. Iâve messaged support but got the automated message saying yâall are working on a permanent solution, but can yâall please come up with a patch or a temporary solution because this is out of hand? Can you make it so we can batch block and report at least? I appreciate the work youâve done so far, and I hope this can be resolved because this is sucking the fun out of this hellsite Iâve called home since 2010
fellow users, if yâall are experiencing this issue too, please reblog this so staff can see this is a growing issue
