which is why there is no way on god’s green earth that i believe simon could ever be that cruel with his lover. like, EVER. you broke down every barrier he had, proved every bad thought and insecurity wrong, made him feel strong without his barriers. after that, he wouldn’t be able to even lift a finger against you.

once simon is yours, he is YOURS. there is no question about it, no second thoughts. you fought this hard for him, so he’s giving it all to you. he would never actively try to hurt you. how could he even think of ruining his own piece of heaven?

to me, he isn’t a “i’ll burn the world down for you” kinda guy. he’s a “the world could be burning, and i would still choose you” kinda guy. you’re his ride or die. if he were dying, he would want it to be with his head in your lap, your fingers in his hair, and the only thing in sight being your smile.

and that isn’t to say simon’s a saint. you most definitely still get his sarcasm and dark humor to the MAX, but you get so much more as well. you get his laughter, his gentle touch, his whispers of adoration. you get his back to you as you spoon him from behind, because he’d built a habit of never turning his back to someone. you get to rub moisturizer on his scars, you get to wash away the black paint on his eyes and kiss his weary face whenever he returns from a long mission.

Mind you, this is after he got tortured for months. This man managed to find the strength to carry on after getting beaten, mentally and physically tortured, drugged, raped/SAd, hung by the ribs, being buried alive and many more.

The fact that the first thing he did when he went back home was to help his younger brother recover from addiction says a lot about him. Not only he did that, but he also kicked his abusive father's ass to protect his family, being the best man at his brother's wedding, and being such a good family man despite his entire life being so traumatic and fucked up never fails to destroy me :((

Simon is so misunderstood in the fandom that it's pretty crazy. He's not mean, he's not abusive, he's not cold, he'd never raise a hand at his S/O or child. He's a tender man with a difficult past, but he's so much more than his trauma.

Now, let’s get one thing straight - Simon Ghost Riley does NOT wear balaclava all the time.

He is not scared of showing his face in front of his teammates, and we’ve seen him doing so in the game as well; he does NOT sleep with this bloody thing; and he most definitely doesn’t wear it while off duty - can you imagine how much attention a balaclava with skull print would attract in a centre of Manchester? Yes, Simon doesn’t allow taking pictures of him unmasked - for obvious reasons, motherfuckers didn’t spare even his therapist and lots of people are still after him. But, once again, it doesn’t mean he hides his face 24/7.

Simon does opt for wearing a cap or panama - to keep his eyes concealed - a habit that most soldiers have. He does wear some simple clothes - the most basic stuff - to attract as little attention as possible. And yes, Simon does avoid big crowds because of his emotional state and numerous TBI’s, not feeling safe surrounded by so many people and all the noise they create. No matter where he is, he chooses a spot with his back facing the wall or a corner of the room, with full view on his surroundings. One of Simon’s knees is, most certainly, shaking like crazy whenever he sits - due to his TBI’s, once again.

THESE are some of the real traits experienced soldiers have, and these are mentioned rarely in fics. Just let’s be fucking real because saying that he never takes off his mask is staring up ridiculous😭
