CONTEMPORARY ARTS BLOG 3
In my opinion, I can say that Leo Benesa’s claim about Amorsolo’s work that they are the most expressive of the ethos of the race and predominantly agricultural countryside is actually true. Leo Benesa is known as a professional art critic and he stated that some of Armosolo’s artworks are related with agricultural countryside. However, it does not necessarily mean that Amorsolo’s works are all about culture. It also has a true and meaningful message behind it.
I don’t think that the usage of English in literature lessens the “Filipino-ness” of the literary work. Yes, it could be a benefit for all the Filipinos. Nevertheless, as long as you can express it really well in English, it wouldn’t really change the “Filipino-ness” of an Artwork.

                                   CONTEMPORARY ARTS BLOG 2
I’ve never visited an art gallery before, I do not know why but for me it was really not a huge deal. Until one day, we had to visit an art gallery located in the College area of Miriam College for our contemporary arts subject. I was in shock when I first came in, the colors of the paintings and artworks were so beautiful. I really couldn’t imagine myself appreciating artistic paintings and artworks because I prefer buildings and houses more. However, with the emotional feeling that I observed from each and every artwork, I felt something. Something that is extraordinary that is very hard to explain. The gallery consists of 42 artworks on display. Most of the artworks are paintings that is very eye-catching to each and every one of the people who goes there. The five artists featured in the gallery is Jana Benitez who did “Cinderella Colored at 11:59 p.m.” - a painting of a person showing different abstract shapes and colors, Phyllis Zaballero who did “Pa de Deux Green” - a painting that shows mostly different shades of Green, Julie Lluch who did “Nude” - an artwork piece presenting a girl who is naked, Angelica Verzosa who did “Yellow Moon Over Persimmon Red Roof” - which she literally painted the exact name of the painting that she did, and lastly, Maria Taniguchi who did “Direct Hit” - she did a painting that can be interpreted as a person or possibly an object hitting the church.
My favorite among all these sets is Julie Lluch’s artwork, “Nude” or “Hubad”. It just shows how an artwork can show a woman’s body without any sexual feeling towards it, but by appreciating the creation of God’s beautiful masterpiece. The artwork is made out of wood, and it just shows how a woman can be confident on its own skin due to the art of how the body is formed. I really felt good about the gallery visit, since it really opened my mind and appreciate the beauty of art. Although, it may seem boring, your mind can really open its creative side if you focus on an artwork and start observing the colors, design, pattern, and meaning behind it.
