RUNWAY REPORT
The LISOF Fashion show has been happening for a few years and it is what motivates the 3rd years fashion students to pull through because they get to showcase their own ideas and get to show why they wanted to become designers. Donna Corriea a 3rd years student got to showcase her collection called CALABRIA, which was inspired, by travel and different ethical backgrounds.
Theme of this collection was travel focusing mostly on countries such as Italy and ethnic groups mainly in the Mediterranean. The key piece about the garments was the floral print, which was displayed, in different patterns and contractions in the garments.  The silhouettes of the garments were constructed to favour the body of the women wearing the garments. The main silhouette was mainly fitted except for the dress and pants which where A-line. It insinuated their features and displayed them in an appealing light. Some garments where tight fitting and some just flowed straight down on the bodies.
The collection had solid colours such as black, white and blue, they where accessorized by the floral prints.  Each garments ha a floral print which was placed in a different place for each garments and also in a different pattern. Every garment had its own style and pattern but it still related to the other garments and it created a flow to the collection. The fabrics that the designer also chose also helped to convey the flow of the collection.  The fabrics she used was a mixer of stretch and woven fabric such as scuba, suiting, satin, stretch satin, lace, stretch lace. These where chosen because they would best suit the silhouette and it also made the collection look very luxuries.
The textures of the collection where very smooth and clean , even though there where prints the prints where very smooth and fitted well to the garments. They also go very well with the season because prints are currently in trends and they just keep changing their types and also the pattern. The styling of the garments was very simple the shoes that the models had on where thick block heels with thick stripes, these fit because they where not too much and they added to the luxury look that the Donna (the designer) was going for. The makeup was a dark eye with a a dark maroon lip and the accessorizes where very simple with a touch of glamour.
With the time spent with the designer Donna-Jean Corriea I would say she has a great future ahead of her in the fashion world because she seems to have a good eye which can capture other small inspirations from other cultural backgrounds and give them her own twist but also not devaluing them.
Look out for the pictures from the fashion show and the video of the journey of the designer.

Podcast Interview with Ernest Mojela
I recently interviewed Ernest Mojela who is a stylist and content creator who has worked with local and international brands including local designers, he has been featured on the radio twice and the topic of discussion was translucent clothing.
Before we got into the interview I asked Ernest what his thoughts were on translucent clothing. He stated that he doesn’t mind translucent clothing that people should be free with what they want to wear. We also discussed his brand aesthetics, if he has tried it, which he hasn’t but plans on exploring it in the future. We also spoke about the pros and cons of this type of clothing and if it should have an age limit.
Ernest in the podcast also discusses how he got into the fashion industry and his passion in fashion. Because the podcast happened after SA fashion week we also played a game where Ernest told us in his opinion the worst and best dressed.
It was very interesting interview because it gives you a perspective of a young upcoming fashion student, stylist building his own empire in the fashion world.
You guys can be on the look out of the official podcast it will be uploaded soon.

Sensational Calabria Designer
Donna Calabria is a 21-year-old, third year fashion student at Lisof who is currently working on her final fashion line for the Lisof Fashion show. She is an introvert but once you get know her, she slowly gets out of her shell. When on campus she dresses in various styles such as luxury gym gear, chilled sweats or even a floral summery dress, it all will depend on which style she is feeling on that day.
When asked what her style is she simply mentioned that she is a girly girl with a touch of European street style. A girly girl that does with exotic taste. She likes the finer things in life such as doing her nails every month, going shopping for any special occasion that she is invited to and doing her make up just to make herself feel good.
She feel in love with design at a young age because at times she would come across clothing that she liked but felt that it could be better and she would visualize how she would make it better. Donna would always find herself thinking about if she had her own clothing line she, what kind of clothing she would have and that is what she is going to be channeling when producing her final year fashion line.
Her fashion line is based on Italian travels and ethnic groups because she loves to travel and draws mots of her fashion style from the places she has visited and the places she plans on visiting. The clothing range that she is putting together is influenced by her style because she adds a personal touch to the clothing, she is creating a style that she would also be interested in wearing. High-end fashion designers such as Dolce and Gabana, Gucci and Louis Vuitton inspire her style and she finds ways of creating similar looks which will be at an affordable price.

3 simple but fabulous winter tips
1. Become a layering pro
There is a reason layering is always on-trend in the winter. It’s a vastly realistic way to dress when it’s really cold. So don’t be afraid to pile on the layers. A turtleneck, under a sweater, under a jacket, under a coat, for instance, will definitely keep you warm.
 2. Let your boots steal the show
Great winter style really boils down to a great pair of boots. Got a great pair of over-the-knee boots? Show them off pairing them with a short dress. Have killer ankle boots you want to make sure the world gets to see? Pair them with cuffed jeans or a dress. Just add your own style to the boots and you will be looking fabulous.

3. Belt your coats to give them new life
By the middle of winter it’s pretty inevitable that you’re going to start to feel some fatigue when it comes to putting on your boring old winter coat day after day. Add new life to your coat simply by belting it. Cinching your waist will make it seem almost like you have a brand new coat.

Alluring Fashionistas at the Fourways Farmers Market
Sunday is a day of relaxation was people spend time with their families and loved ones and just rest before they start their week. I decided to go to the fourways farmers market, which is known for it amazing food and people. I had always heard about the event so I finally decided to check out what the buzz was all about. The food, drinks and the setting of the place is just so amazing as shown on the picture below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I met two very interesting ladies who were friends. What was so interesting about these ladies was how different they were but still good friends. I went to the market alone in hopes of finding interesting people to speak to and that’s exactly what happened. I meet Thuto Maphala and Buhle Manyathi who are both in the fashion industry but in different fields. Thuto is the stylist who is very out spoken and passionate about creating outfits and keeping up with the latest trends. The outfit she had on at the market will show you guys what I mean when I say she is passionate about creating outfits .I will include a picture so you guys can have an idea of what I am referring to.

She keeps up with the trends through social media by following fashion pages. But that is not all she wants to be she also wants to expand her styling by becoming a buyer for big retail companies such as Zara, Gucci and Forever21. So I asked her how does one keep their closet trendy and she said “Know your style and what you like wearing, what trends you interested in and most important you should always be comfortable”. Thuto had a lot to say we even went off topic a few times that’s when I decided to move on to Buhle, who is so shy and soft spoken. Buhle Manyathi is a makeup artist who feel in love with makeup at the early age of 14 years old. The most interesting thing is that make up was not her first choice of career but when she was offered money to do someone’s makeup she took up the offer and what made her become a professional make up artist was the fact that she loved makeup. Also the fact that people were interested in here work made her decision easier. She aspires to be a global makeup influencer and when I asked her what three products she cant live without in her kit she said “I cant live without my primer, powder and beauty blender”, and I’m sure all makeup lovers couldn’t agree more. These ladies were very friendly and interesting we couldn’t stop chatting and we ended up spending the rest of the afternoon together.  Unfortunately I do not have any pictures to show you Buhle because she was very shy and did not want any picture taken of her but I will make sure to bring you guys pictures of some of work because I will be working with her in some of the next makeup tips.
At the end of my interview I asked these ladies to leave me with quotes that they lived by; Buhle’s quote was “ Embody the beauty from within”, and Thuto’s quote was “ Believe in yourself ,because if you don’t no one will” , such inspiring words from young beautiful South African women is so empowering.

Tumblr media
I am Natasha Olopeng! I am a twenty-two years old fashion student at Lisof . Ever since I can remember, I’ve been coming up with thoughts and plans or goals to tackle. I find a lot of satisfaction in choosing a goal and seeing it through until the end. It’s how I learn and grow as a person. I started this blog when I was about seventeen years old; because I wanted to create a platform where I can share my beauty tips and show my love for fashion. The Glam Fairy is a blog about fashion and beauty tips. I have created this platform where I will be sharing my beauty tips with you guys and also sharing my ideas on how to put outfits together. It will not only focus on those two factors but I will also be sharing about my life experiences.
I want this blog to have a well-rounded recipe for anyone who likes a little sugar and spice, also fierce with a touch of sweetness. I enjoy blogging an I have made it part of my everyday life where my audience has become part of my train of thought. I love waking up, planning an outfit to post and look, taking photos and also writing about what pops into my head, as I continue in this bizarre, beautiful sometimes weird journey of mine.I will continue to reach my fan base with daily postings on my ever-popular social media platforms to link back to my blog for the full story.
The Glam Fairy is a space designed for letting creativity splish, splash, and spill.  As the saying goes, “Creativity is messy, and I’m very creative!”  So, I hope you’ll join me in making a mess!  Here, you’ll find everything from selfies to OOTDs also including designs to fashion tips.  If it can be made with your hands, I’m all over it like white on rice.
