Cyprus is the place of birth of the goddess Aphrodite. Ever since I arrived on the island, I felt a special kind of energy, something deeply feminine and sensual in the air. On our last day we visited the ruins of an ancient sanctuary near Pafos, and the rock visible in the second picture - it's the exact place where she was born from the sea foam. I wore my best pink dress, pearl jewelry and roses in my hair and brought an offering of flowers to this special place. We got into the azure sea at sunset with a faint moon above us on the sky. I've never been in waters that deep in my life, but I felt safe, being carried on the waves that carried the gods millennia ago. People from all around the world were creating heart-shaped stone structures on the beach. It looked lovely, like a volatile altar. We made our heart close to the sea, and left the flowers there for her, so it could be devoured by the sea by morning. I don't really know what powers I believe or not, or which myths are true, but I willingly opened myself to this special kind of magic, and it was an enchanting experience. This memory will stay in my heart in a shape of white stones covered by fragrant roses 🌹🐚
