No for real, they asked me to tell you that. How do I know? Because they, along with French 2023 representative La Zarra, were the first to co-sign the Artists' Statement to the EBU. This is an open letter that I WROTE!! and La Zarra responded to my messages asking her to co-sign it.
After Montaigne signed on as well, La Zarra posited the idea of making a Change . Org petition. Ten minutes later, we had this up and running:
With almost 3,000 signatures and THREE Eurovision/National Final artists' signatures, we're getting louder everyday and demanding that Eurovision be one of the few things in the world to ACTUALLY hold Israel accountable for their crimes. We will not sit idly by and cheer for a country being sued for genocide. Please consider signing and sharing this petition.
Additionally! On Saturday the 13th (the international day of action for Gaza) I will be doing a simultaneous live stream on BOTH of my TikTok accounts! You can find me there discussion ESC, sharing useful info, and signing the petition!! Can we get to 10k in one weekend? Let's find out!!
Thank you to everyone, truly. To Eurovision, Palestine doesn't exist. But it still exists for those who live there, for those who hurt them, and for those who choose to look away. We will not look away.
We will continue to see and speak about Palestine. Eurovision can be celebrated while we hold others accountable for their actions and demand change be made.
Good luck to all the artists tonight and Free Palestine
