thinking about the wildly different strong impressions Elrond can make with his wardrobe choices, circa like early Second Age when everyone still hates each other a little but they’re trying to build a kingdom together. options include:

dressing in mostly blue, a circlet that sets any sort of white gem on his forehead

dressing in mostly green, heavy leaf and tree embroidery, with maybe a silver cloak

greens and other dark colors, hair down, nightingale embroidery or jewelry, summoning that part of himself that is neither Elf nor Man but wholly other, until there’s an echo of ancient songs in even his calmest words. white gem on a necklace optional.

dressing mostly in red, no notable sigils but a smirk bordering on arrogant, a deliberate extra use of (lisped) Quenya

I don’t know if we know the colors of the royal house and/or flag of Númenor? was it black and silver way back then? anyway, that’s also an option for Elrond making pointed statements via clothing

intersecting with all of this, he can adjust his hair and use a bit of contouring makeup to emphasize Elvish or Edainic features

I have a question that I'm always legitimately curious about the answer to but am always wary of offending people by asking;

What is the practical difference between a cult and a religion? I was raised religious, left it after some negative experiences, and try to be respectful of the beliefs of others because my experience isn't everybody's, but I don't see a real difference between cult and religious beliefs.

I want to emphasise that this ask comes from a place of desire to understand.

There's no hard answer. You can Google the BITE model if you're curious.

A cult isn't a belief system, it's a social dynamic. Think of the difference between a relationship, a bad relationship, and an abusive relationship. A group can be scummy, immoral, or even coercive, but that doesn't necessarily make them a cult.

Think of Christians. There's lots of ways to be Christian. You can just be a casual churchgoer, you can be a priest, a monk, a wacky mystic, or a dangerous theofascist cultist.

Cults, in my mind, are defined by autonomy. For normal religions, if you leave in the middle of a service, you aren't shunned by the rest of the worshipers. The dogma has a healthy diversity of thought, and deviations can be reconciled. You're free to physically leave whenever you like, and you aren't asked to devote unreasonable amounts of time, energy, or money to the group.

Their hobbies if they share any, their views on politics and literature, their upbringing if its any way similar

because i posted something a little bit ago, and all the tags are very nice and make my heart go :D and i really want to thank them!! 

but i don’t... really know the etiquette for fic on here, and i’ve got social anxiety so potentially doing something outside the tumblr-fic norm makes me very, very anxious.
