I really despise this whole "self-empathy is when you don't give a shit about anyone other than yourself" thing. How the fuck can you just say shit like this and not feel a little bit like a piece of shit? "My country supporting a genocide? Not my problem. People in my community facing bigotry? Not my problem. An ongoing pandemic of a highly contagious disease that tends to cause permanent damage in those infected? Not my problem." Sure, in the end a lot of people think like this, but it's another thing to be this shameless that you proudly say it out loud.

You can start wearing your mask again at any time BTW. You don't have to be high risk to wear one and those who are high risk in your life thank you.

from egyptian diplomat, nobel prize winner and lawer el baradei:
The "peace plan" on the table: 1- Not agreeing to a permanent ceasefire until Israel is able to “destroy” Hamas, but only agreeing to a “temporary” truce with the aim of liberating the hostages and prisoners. 2- Airdropping some humanitarian aid to save what civilians could be saved in the middle of a massive sea of massacres and famines. 3- Planning to resume the war after the temporary truce to complete the destruction of “extremist groups,” which is expected to result in significant loss of life as collateral damage that is difficult to avoid. 4- A vague general reference to a “two-state” solution somehow somewhere… In my opinion, this is not “peace”...and this is not a “plan”... The essence of the conflict was and still is the occupation, which is like a huge elephant in the room that everyone tries to pretend not to see...
important to remember before i see you all uncritically sharing "kamala just called for an immediate ceasefire!" posts. americans are not calling for a permanent ceasefire, they are calling for a temporary pause in hostility to release hostages.
this is a political dead-end plan where israel gets exactly what they want and nothing else happens, and is only capable of being suggested due to the pre-existing leverage of threatening to continue massacring and displacing all 2 million palestinians in gaza. it is a plan that not only accepts the war crime of collective punishment, but actively endorses it.
remember that when you hear about hamas refusing it.

Boycott Israeli Dates this Ramadan, from Call 2 Action Now, 28/Feb/2024: (caption under images)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Ramadan, don’t break your fast with an Israeli date. Stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has now killed tens of thousands. Palestinians, facing down Israel’s catastrophic violence, call on us to boycott Israeli products in solidarity with their struggle for freedom.
Follow this quick guide to boycotting Israeli dates:
• Always check the label when buying dates. Don’t buy dates that are produced or packaged in Israel or its West Bank settlements. If no country of origin can be found on the box, check the retailer’s website.
• One of Israel’s largest exporters is called Hadiklaim. It sells dates in supermarkets under these names: King Solomon, Jordan River and Jordan River Bio-Top, as well as under the labels of supermarket chains. Check the box carefully, if the dates were “exported by Hadiklaim” – don’t buy them.
• Avoid these companies: Mehadrin, MTex, Edom, Carmel Agrexco, and Arava
#checkthelabel is not enough. Israel has been caught labelling their dates as ‘produce of Palestine’. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, M&S, Morrison, Aldi, Lidl and Asda package Israeli dates under their own labels!
Buy dates from Zaytoun, Alard, Yaffa, and Holy Land Date all support Palestinian Farmers. If you cannot get hold of these brands then buy dates from Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, UAE and Algeria.

If you have a cold and test negative for COVID you are not in the clear. Tests take a while to turn positive. Meanwhile you are spreading COVID to family and friends. Mask up if you have any symptoms. This virus is just evil.

Officially the Palestinian death toll has passed 30,000. As this article will tell you, the official count is far below the actual death count
Gaza's health ministry said Thursday that the number of Palestinians killed in the war has surpassed 30,000. The official number now stands at 30,035 deaths. The figure is widely viewed as the most reliable one available. The health ministry provided NPR with one of its latest reports on the death toll, 38 pages long, to analyze. A close look at how Gaza's health ministry counts those killed in the war reveals a system that is buckling under the weight of war and unable to keep an accurate toll of the dead. Thousands remain unaccounted for — either missing under the rubble, buried hastily in side streets or decomposing in areas that can't be safely reached.
The Gaza health ministry says its daily tally now relies on a combination of accurate death counts from hospitals that are still partially operating, and on estimates from media reports to assess deaths in the north of Gaza, where Israeli forces control access. Its detailed daily report shows that its electronic system for counting the dead was disrupted on Nov. 12, when communication was lost with three major hospitals in the north, soon followed by more in other parts of Gaza. In the early days of the war, as the wounded and dead streamed into hospitals, Gaza's health ministry kept a detailed daily count of the number of people killed. Public and private hospitals were recording into an electronic database the names, ages, genders and ID numbers of the dead.

The measles outbreaks are getting so insanely frustrating and outrageous. It’s not just the US now. But the worst part is seeing health authorities and articles starting to adopt Covid language to describe measles. Of course it’s a logical step, but it’s just unbelievable to see something like measles talked about like it’s a normal winter illness, or to pretend that it isn’t airborne. I guess they can’t recommend airborne disease control measures for measles if they’re pretending they don’t exist for Covid. But like. What the hell.
If it’s been decades since your MMR vaccines, consider getting a titer test done to see if you still have adequate antibodies, especially if you spend time around young children. You can get a booster if your immunity has waned.

just a reminder that BetterHelp is selling your fucking data and that they themselves have said at industry meetings that they're a data-driven company more than a people-driven company
It feels like for a while in there that people were dropping them as a sponsor but now that the controversy has slightly dimmed there are so many ads for them again; do not give them your information, do not give them your money
I know insurance is a pain in the ass and mental health treatments cost too much out of pocket for most people. So do they, that's why they're making this little bait and switch operation. Helping people is, at best, a side product of their data harvesting, and at worst just a trick to lure people in.
