I honestly think though people would understand conflicting access needs and such better if there was more integration between special ed and mainstream schools. Not like, a disabled kid comes in for this class and that's it they don't really talk to anyone except the teacher and their support worker. Not like, all you kids sit at the special table and only go out at break if you're considered high functioning enough. Like equal communities sharing the experience.
Like yeah there's lots of different needs and sometimes as things currently work a mainstream school cannot provide for them, but that doesn't mean the sped kids need to be locked away hidden from everyone else, at best allowed to linger on the margins as an outsider. Disabled people don't exist to educate others of course, but a lot of people might be better to others if they had more diversity around them as kids, and special ed kids deserve to be a part of as much as they can. And also mainstreamed disabled kids or those getting special ed within a larger mainstream environment could benefit from knowing more disabled kids too. Saying this as someone who spent time in all of those situations.

life is when you are playing slither.io and a big snake starts circling around you so you are almost trapped (and there is the possibility that maybe the big snake gets overzealous and you can catch them by the head and become king) but for now you have to keep circling tighter and tighter inside the other snake circling tighter and tighter. the remains of other victims lie in that pit and you can eat them to nourish yourself in the meantime, as if it would help you. slither.io is a game which reinforces how all you can do sometimes is be hungry

doctor who coming back in the year of 2023 when terfism and biological essentialism and transphobia are on the rise and making one of THE most hyped up episodes by bringing back fan favorites david tennant and catherine tate. all about being trans
showing rose being bullied and her grandma struggling to get it right but still being supportive. and shaun and donna being the greatest parents by being ready to burn the world down to protect their daughter. the doctor asking for the meep's pronouns AND IT'S NORMAL???
and all of that is brilliant to see rose as a trans character and it is important to the narrative. BUT THEN. ROSE BEING TRANS SAVES DONNA'S LIFE BY TAKING HALF OF THE METACRISIS. BECAUSE THE DOCTOR IS MALE AND FEMALE AND NEITHER AND MORE. AND THAT IS INTEGRAL TO DOCTOR WHO AS A WHOLE. and it saved donna's life
to see doctor who be so BLATANTLY trans and nonbinary at the core of the series. the multiple references to the fact that before fourteen, thirteen was a woman. so to see this? trans people stay winning. thank you doctor who for doubling down on the importance of the doctor being trans because oh my god I am so emotional about this
