         “ I  know. ” Batman  retorts.  He  should  be  standing  up  for  himself,  telling  her  all  the  good  he’s  done.  Has  tried  to  do.  Or  perhaps  even  refer  to  his  own  experience  with  the  asylum,  the  way  he  watches  his  best  friend  suffer.  It’s  not  ideal,  &&  some  part  of  him  wishes  he  could  come  forward.  That  he’s  working  on  a  rehabilitation  center,  that  behind  the  mask  he’s  the  man  constantly  within  these  walls  trying  to  make  it  better.  He  says  none  of  this,  though.  Because  she’s  right.  He  should  be  doing  more,  &&  this  place  is  hell.  He  knows  the  inmates  won’t  get  better,  &&  he  knows  violence  won’t  solve  anything.  But  at  the  end  of  the  day,  the  inmates  are  still  criminals  who  have  taken  lives  &&  hurt  innocent  people.  He  can’t  exactly  let  them  free  in  the  streets.

She should have been home by now, but she was asked to stay later to process some new books. Eliza stood in the break room waiting for her tea to steep, she was going to need it if she was to stay awake long enough to sort through them. She sighs and discards the tea bag. As she walks down the hallway, Eliza can’t help but think of her bed and the warm meal she’ll have once she gets home.

She opens the door of the library and takes a step into the room. She stops, something’s wrong. The combination of fencing and working at the asylum has made her senses sharp, there was someone in there with her. Eliza took a deep breath and fully entered the room. She sets her tea down on her desk and turns to face the room at large.

“You can come out, I know you’re there.”

          Batman  made  it  his  goal  to  personally  see  to  it  he  knew  each  member  of  the  Arkham  staff  ever  since  Lyle  Bolton  had  been  abusing  his  post.  He  had  figured  anyone  brave  enough  to  work  at  the  asylum  would  also  be  good-hearted,  but  that  mistake  had  been  made  once  &&  he  wasn’t  going  to  make  it  again.  So,  that  night,  he  waits  for  Eliza  in  the  library,  gloved  fingers  roaming  over  the  shelved  books  as  he  waits.  

          When  she  enters,  the  man  is  surprised  to  hear  that  she  knows  he’s  there.  It’s  impressive,  considering  how  many  years  he  spent  learning  to  be  stealthy.  He  has  to  admire  how  sharp  her  senses  are.  Stepping  into  the  dim  light  coming  from  the  opened  door,  Batman  greets  her.    “  It’s  time  we  talked.  ”  Is  all  he  says.

Rewatching btas and the smile Bruce gets when he saves someone just makes me so happy because this series really got what Batman was supposed to be. He doesn’t need to be all punchy and gritty and dark for him to feel better or do what he needs. All he needs is to save one person, one life, and he feels like he’s honoring his parents. Because Batman is about saving people, not hurting them. His father was a doctor, and he taught Bruce that life is precious. That lesson is carried on in Thomas’s death!!! When I see comic writers making Bruce get a high from beating the shit out of someone I just get very annoyed because come on!! He’s not some freak he’s just a genuinely hurting and kind man that is trying his best. He’s not trying to fuel his emptiness with blood on his hands

yall ever think about how much bruce cares and how thats going to be the end of him someday. like i get its fun to make him always beat the shit out of people, but really the only times he does that is mostly with joker or anyone who hurts kids (especially his kids). while in the end bruce is more like… idk how to describe it but he’s gonna stop when someone is unconscious or unable to cause further harm, and usually this doesn’t involve hurting someone so much that they’re in a terrible state. and im not saying that he doesnt do this, HE DOES, but theyre not often and you can usually find him doing more detective work than anything. idk i think i just miss him being someone to fear because he’s known to criminals as someone that WILL stop them, and not someone thats gonna beat them to shit. I mean Gotham at this point wouldve turned against him if he was constantly like that, but you ask the citizens and theyre always like yeah batman !! thats our HERO !! or you ask other heroes and theyre like yeah he’s the best. like. he has all this respect built up on him because hes not just beating people he thinks deserves it. in fact, he KNOWS that so many dont. not everyone hes going to fight is going to be the joker, and most of the people he catches on his patrol are just people trying to get by and not those with ill intentions. Gotham is a city that is very poor and grimy, so people have to fight tooth and nail to survive. He’s not just going to ignore that, and often he tries to help by hiring low income families and hosting many charity events for them. the only time you’ll really find someone beat to shit is , like i said, if theyre someone like joker. who have no remorse and just live to hurt. then he doesnt get any guilt from giving them a taste of their own medicine. 

honestly he’s shown to treat criminals ( ESPECIALLY THOSE IN ARKHAM ) with a certain level of kindness. Harvey Dent he visits every two weeks, he helps Harley Quinn when she’s out of Arkham, and stops that one guard who was hurting them because he believes that people deserve to be treated fairly !! and he’s constantly working to improve the conditions in Arkham because he knows that having such a shitty place wont make anything better. 

idk yall………….. this is getting long but im just tired. the whole reason i started to like batman in the first place was because of how he acted and how he views himself. the whole point of his character is that HE doesn’t consider HIMSELF to be a hero while the rest of the good guys do. And the reason for this IS BECAUSE of all the guilt he has at those he’s hurt and because he feels like he should be doing more!!!!!!!!!!!!

tldr; bruce is a hero and he believes in giving chances before hurting someone
