Ian McKellen as Salieri and Tim Curry as Mozart in the 1980 Broadway production of Amadeus. McKellen won Best Actor in the Tony Awards for this. (Simon Callow played Mozart and Paul Scofield played Salieri in the original National Theatre production.) Many other actors took over the roles during the Broadway run including Mark Hamill as Mozart.

EDIT: I am informed there IS video of this, in the Lincoln Center Performing Arts Library, part of the NYPL, but you have to physically go there to view it, AND be a qualified academic researcher. Hopefully it will pass into the public domain at some point, unless some friendly soul, ahem, liberates the bits.
