Right, so this is after Wei Wuxian is revealed to have been resurrected by Mo Xuanyu at Carp Tower. And I love it so much because it is the EXACT moment that Lan Xichen sees Jin Guangyao’s true colors.

He KNOWS Wei Wuxian couldn’t have gone to the Burial mounds to stir up trouble because he’s been at the Cloud Recesses the ENTIRE TIME. From the moment they fled JinLintai, to the current conversation with Jin Guangyao, Wei Wuxian has been by Lan Wangji’s side. There is absolutely no possible way he could be the reason behind the puppets.

What Lan Xichen says here is “he was stabbed, how could he do that if he’s injured?” But what he really means is “Wei Wuxian is literally in the same room as we speak. When did he have the time to fly to the Burial Mounds and create puppets? ”

Goodness the way he stares at Jin Guangyao gives me chills, because you just know he is assessing his every word. He’s no longer having a calm conversation with a friend, but is now analyzing everything Jin Guangyao has to say. And Jin Guangyao just continues to say the wrong thing. And while I’m glad Lan Xichen is realizing the truth these next frames break my heart.

You can see that Lan Xichen had hope. You can see that he desperately wanted to believe that Jin Guangyao was a good man, but such a bold faced lie has opened so many doors, and now Lan Xichen has to ask

“Is he really who I thought he was?”
