Also for the record I think conceiving of NPs as video game elements first instead of story devices can still lead to diverse and unique NPs they just have to be in a system that allows way more freedom than FGO's

FGO's approach to Noble Phantasms and just how far they've distanced themselves from the original concept is perfectly encapsulated with Okita Souji, a Servant that originated in a comedy comic.
Her actual noble phantasm was a flag that summoned the phantoms of the Shinsengumi to fight by her side, while Mumyou Sandanzuki was a skill of hers since it's just Okita's famous ability to cross long distances in a blink to deliver a sword strike.
However, FGO made the latter her NP instead, since it was easier to conceive as an "ultimate skill" within its limited combat system

I feel like I have to add the disclaimer that when I make complaints about Fate/Samurai Remnant's combat design it's entirely a taste thing and not a "this is is a bad interpretation of Fate" thing.
Given FSR's obvious low budget (it was a pet project of the CEO after all to make more Musashi and not meant to be an AAA project that would take tons of investor money and would sell millions of copies) and small scope they nailed the shit out of that game.
