Jerry is an absolute gentleman through and through. No matter when you met, or how long you've been together, he treats you like royalty. Perfect gifts, well planned dates, and adoring words are the foundation of the code he operates under when it comes to romance.

He tailors everything to your needs and references, though. If you're uncomfortable getting gifts, he'll buy things for the communal living space that he thinks you will like. Paintings, sculptures, furniture. Anything he thinks you will enjoy.

If you don't like public displays of affection, he will tone down on any physical PDA and relegate most of your dates to the home. An intimate candle for dinner for just the two of you is his go to. He'll have Billy get or prepare your favorite meal, and treat you to a night with good food, good drinks, and good company.

He is good company. With Jerry, you'll never feel neglected or unwanted. You'll also never be bored. Living for over a thousand years certainly teaches a man some tricks for passing the time. He's hilarious, too. His humor can be a little dark, so hopefully that's up your alley. If you're uncomfortable with too many dark jokes, he will tone it down a bit, however it's in his nature so you'll have to prepare for them occasionally.

He's incredibly perceptive. Not just because of his heightened vampire senses, too. He loves you. That means that when you're around is focus is on you and everything you're doing. For better, or for worse.

This means he knows if you're lying to him. Most of the time it isn't worth it to Jerry to confront you about them. He knows everyone has their secrets, of course he does, and he'll allow you to keep them. This doesn't mean he'll just stand by and let you do whatever you please. It's a partnership, and he likes to be involved in your life. If lying becomes a habit, you will be confronted about it.

Speaking of confrontation, fights aren't Jerry's thing. He's an incredibly patient guy. Especially when it comes to you. If you guys do have an argument, it usually ends with him sitting quietly waiting for you to end your rant. He might get a little bit heated in the beginning, but the last thing he wants is to lose you. So, if that means he has to take the fall, he will. However, if you truly are in the wrong, Jerry will do his best to calmly explain to you his side of the story. After tempers have cooled, of course.

He's the king of making things up to you. Whether it's after a small tiff, like above, or he accidentally hurt your feelings, he will go above and beyond to make you happy with him again. Not in a manipulative way, either. He gives you your space, and tries to do thoughtful, little things for you.

You'll find your favourite snack in the fridge, or your favourite movie playing on the television, or a little trinket on your nightstand that is just so your style. He's sweet, and soft-spoken, and he won't bring up what happened until he thinks you're ready to hear him out. When he does apologize, he sits you down, holds your hand, and kisses your forehead, and he swears to you that he'll never do it again. Even if it was something as small as having to cancel a date. If it hurt your feelings, he's apologizing.

Jerry won't take shit from you, though. Don't mistake his sweetness and love for being soft willed. If you are rude, abrasive, or generally unkind to him, you will be held accountable for that. Typically, like was mentioned before, he won't yell or raise his voice at you, but he will ask for an apology. Even a simple and sincere 'I'm sorry' will suffice. Although, if you wanted to do a little extra to make it up to him, he wouldn't mind that.

Since your sleep schedules don't line up, while you're human, at least, Jerry makes every effort to hang out with you when he can. Once he's eaten, all his attention is on you.

This usually manifests as him being practically glued to your side as you go about your night. He's with you when you eat dinner, sometimes even grabbing something for himself so you don't eat alone. If you have any shows you like to catch before bed, Jerry will sit on the couch with you while you watch. During your nighttime routine, he will stay by you for the parts he's allowed to. Using the restroom and changing are the only exceptions. Even then, if you ask him to leave or turn around while you change, he'll make some comment about how you don't need to hide from him, or how attractive he thinks you are.

Cuddling is a must. While you watch television, while you sleep, even just cuddling for its own sake. He is a big proponent of physical affection, and you will never be left wanting. Touch starvation? Not in his house. Even when he's not completely wrapped around you, you've got a hand on your shoulder, waist, or back. If you have any exposed skin, it will get kissed. There's pretty much nothing you can do about it. If you're not a fan of being touched, Jerry will dial it down, but it will be a huge effort on his part. You're worth it, though.

It was Fright Night (1985) actor Chris Sarandon’s idea to have Jerry eating fruit throughout the film:

“Jerry ate all kinds of fruit because it was just sort of something I discovered by searching it — that most bats are not blood-sucking, but they’re fruit bats. And I thought: Well, maybe somewhere in Jerry’s genealogy, there’s fruit bat in him. So that’s why I did it.”
