     zelda shifted her stance once more ,   her back to him now as she picked up the pace.   he knew exactly which buttons to push ,   never failing to get a rise out of her.   it drove her mad at times  ( most times … ALL the time )  ,   but this wouldn’t be one of them.   she wouldn’t let him win today.   especially with a look like THAT on his face.

          ‘  RIGHTLY SO ,   &  behind it’s outside walls is just the same.   it’s a shame you won’t be able to see beyond with your own eyes ,   but i’m sure you’ll be in good company with the sand seals.  ’     she turns to the side briefly ,   her gaze fixed on him as a SMALL but playful smirk of her own tugs at the corners of her lips.     ‘  they’re such sweet creatures ,   but very easily startled;   something to keep in mind before you go running at one !  ’

          if possible, his expression grew more amused under her attempt at a withering glare. he would not lie, it was a terrifying look that only lost its edge when he noted the flush of her cheeks and her frustration. he has to secure his teeth around the insides of his mouth to keep from chuckling when she analyzes his intent. alas, he isn’t so successful once she turns and begins her brisque march forwards. so much for being a silent knight.

hi boys we gonna be writing out a fencing au / fencing info for his modern au rn. the season’s well over but I miss it and just typed out an au on my a.pollo blog so I’m feeling it for link too.

link fences sabre. depending on his mood, he can fence in one of two ways. when angry, he falls into the stereotypical type of sabre fencing I like to call the charge of the heathens. I fence sabre, I can call us out, okay. it’s basically running ( with proper footwork, you can’t actually run at people in sabre I hate it ) at your opponent and hoping shit works. if you don’t advance off the line / have fifteen simuls in the middle what are you doing you’re actual trash, switch to epeé or something. they allow p.ussy footing there. ( I’m kidding, I love epeé & respect the art form that is fencing it bc I literally cannot sit there for 3 minutes ). he doesn’t scream though. at all. just on the inside. he’s always screaming on the inside.

when he’s relatively calm he actually gasps retreats off the line as a potential tactic. now. for most. this is not smart. but he’s link fucking hywel. he’ll parry your ass, take right of way back, and beat you before you realize that the line was actually the threshold of death, and you crossed over it like a fool. just give up it’s too late.

one of his favorite things to do, which I personally do, is use tactics that a sabre wouldn’t. that’s what makes them so effective. his lunges, for instance, are sometimes executed as a thrust, or like a foil or epeé lunge for both efficiency and finesse / accuracy. since he’s short and agile, he can also get out of there quick because that can potentially leave his entire left side open.

another thing that link manages is a circle parry. it’s not really a nice tactic to use in sabre. if executed poorly / too low on your opponent’s blade, it can be taken as your opponent’s beat rather than your parry ( as with all parries on sabre, really, it kinda actually sucks ) should they hit you. if you successfully keep them from hitting you when you riposte, then congration. the point is yours. this is risky if you’re not 100% aware of your execution because you could so easily lose right of way. how I manage it, I don’t know. I’m only second seed by a large margin.

he’s a lefty, so he’s a real bitch to fence. I personally hate fencing lefites. I’ve beaten them, but...it’s not fun. lefties are so used to fencing righties, but righties are not used to fencing lefties. the only way to really undo a lefty is to fence them as a lefty.
