that's so valid, ignore that mess honestly... i loved Hiro's and Matt's storylines respectively (well - the potential of them, at least, as Reborn was basically 30% potential, 20% whattheabsolutefuck and 50% between ok and absolutely terrible execution), but my god it was a tire fire.

and yeah the Company having a human extremist group makes a ton of sense!! they recruited Karen Sprague's brother, too, for example (Joseph Gallagher was his name) by telling him a powered human killed his sister, and refusing to give him details unless he joined them (at least that's how i remember it, been a hot second). they could've done so much more with that (i also wonder if those people knew the Company was founded and built by powered ppl?? and how they'd feel about that?? / why no one higher up noticed for so long) but alas...

in short: fucking FUCK Ali Larter. and by that I mean don’t even touch her with a ten-foot-pole, jfc.

i'm adding Paulette Hawkins (D.L.'s mother) [who also hated Niki, which seemed really odd at the time, but does make me Hmmm very much thinking about Ali Larter now] to this list... she only had one scene on the show, but she made another appearance in the comics, employed by the Company. she had the same power that Ando would later get - ability amplification - and was, in the first and last story she appeared in, summoned to help ("help") with bagging&tagging a guy who could make plants grow really fast. she killed him by touching him - he grew a small forest, and then turned into a tree himself.

but i don't want to talk about that, i want to talk about what happened right after.

a human extremist group among the Company workers killed her.

that's right.

they reported her in as a casuality of the fight with plant guy, and for all intents and purposes, seemed to get away with that. that extremist group had a bit more of a plot, but nothing huge iirc, and bottom line... yeah. an extremist group (nevermind that they didn't discriminate by color of skin...in the text) killed D.L.'s mother / Micah's grandmother / Niki's mother-in-law. and... it's never brought up on the show. she's never brought up on the show again.

just another dead black character.

and do not FUCKING get me started on black characters on Heroes Reborn.

more Eclipsed opinions (in articles this time)

one article, by Screenrant, contains one take i can't really see / don't agree with, and one i think is close to spot on:

the article criticizes refers to "a truncated storyline and clunky writing" in S2, and claims all subsequent seasons suffered from the lack of character development and dropped plotlines during that time. this..... i don't really agree with :'D like, how much did S2 really affect S3 and S4? not sure that holds too much water.

i really like the article's take on Reborn, however: they mainly name the terrible pacing of Reborn as the cause of it not hitting with the audience. too little time before the big stakes resulted in it feeling a lot less grounded than the original, is their opinion. and i can absolutely see where they're coming from!

in my opinion, Reborn had much bigger problems than that, but that doesn't make this take untrue or not refreshing to hear!

the idea here is that Heroes aired in a time without superhero stories that were independent of DC and Marvel, and today, that kind of thing is much more established (the success of shows like The Boys and The Umbrella Academy is cited). therefore, the show might be much better received now - hence the tagline: The world may finally be ready for more Heroes.

further, it also cites that the OG Heroes show used to run parallel to the popular show Lost, which might've cost it some fame as well. not sure how true that is (i wasn't there :'D), but i'll take any evidence a fresh start could do better / equally well today!
