❛ I don’t go by that name. ❜ thorn replies as she turns so very slowly on her heels to face the person @sintoknow (lucifer) who just called her sarah. she was pretty sure the first and last time she’d heard that very name being spoken was at her christening. she’d always been called sally by pretty much everyone else (except her mom who’d called her rose) up until she claimed the name thorn for herself when she began her musical career. ❛ do you expect me to swoon because you know the name on my birth certificate or something? ❜ she didn’t have time for games. the show was over and she had a special order to pick up at the butchery before it closes.

it is a pure coincidence that they share the same given name (thorn’s birth name is sarah rose). thorn’s mother was named seraphine desrosiers and thorn’s father was just looking for a way to hint at her mother’s name without it sounding too obvious.

thorn’s mom died when she was 15 before she got to come out to her and she always carried that regret with her as she used to tell her mom everything. she had always hoped to be able to share her truth with her eventually but life has decided otherwise.
it is why she decided she wouldn’t keep the truth from her dad. but the fear made her wait a little longer. it wasn't until she was moving out of oakhaven for her studies that she decided to share her truth with him. unfortunately, even though he’d always been supportive of every other aspects of her life, he sadly wasn’t able to accept that part of her.
thankfully, she had her besties dusk and luna to support her through it all.
her dad came around much later, though by then she had another secret to keep from him… and this time, she decided she couldn’t risk rejection again. she kept the truth from him about her ancestry on her mother's side as well as the curse that seemed to have fallen upon her. it was better he dies remembering his daughter as she once was and not the monster she would become.
