RWBY Figure Skating AU

I got the idea from everyone comparing Qrow and Tyrian’s fight to dancing tbh and then I was like “huh Qrow could probably be a dancer or figure skater or smth” and it was all downhill from there

This is just the stuff I’ve got down so far but anyway here goes (also bear with me I know absolutely nothing about figure skating except the little bit that I learned from YOI lmao)

Team RWBY for the figure skating AU!

I know it’s supposed to be like.. a Thing™ in figure skating for girls to wear white skates and guys to wear black skates but Ruby’s outfit looked better with black skates so we’re just gonna ignore that rule in this AU i think

Summer didn't get into my RWBY favorites simply because we don't see much of her, but I absolutely loved her design.

So here is a little appreciation art dump I started a while ago before BG3 stole all my attention upon it's release.

I haven't gone back and finished my WIPs from before BG3, and I kind of kept running into the issue that something else would catch my interest and I'd make even more WIPS, and repeat before I could go back to any of the WIPs.

And so despite my Mass Effect obsession's returning, I AM trying to get some WIPs done. Not all will be finished, as some pieces were stopped at unideal points, but I will try for some.

I had the wonderful privilege of being @pugoata‘s partner in the @bumblebybigbang! She wrote what is probably one of my favorite Bumbleby fics now so please go give it a read! 

Also @sunnyteea ended up joining our group in the final stretch of the event and still managed to get a beautiful piece finished so go look at her work as well!

Yang talking about Weiss not understanding what it’s like to be lonely because she has a giant family makes my heart ache because how happy must Yang have been when she went to Beacon and had more people to care for than just Ruby and her father? Yang is someone with too much love to give, who cares about her loved ones so incredibly much, but I can’t stop thinking about a Yang who had no one but Ruby and maybe her dad and uncle to love like that, a Yang who had never felt as happy in her life than with her new team, more people to love and care about. 

Of course Yang loves Ruby more than anyone else, but deep inside I think she has realised that she needs more than this relationship in her life. Out of all people in the world Ruby is probably the one Yang would never turn to if she needs support and help. She is trying to be strong for her, trying to help Ruby, not the other way around (there is a reason why Weiss had that talk with Yang in 5x09 and not Ruby). Having Blake and Weiss in her life changed that. Yes, of course she also supported Blake when she needed her, but the big difference and the reason why Yang needs Blake in her life is that Yang said she needed Blake. Yang allows herself to be vulnerable around Blake, she allows herself to seek that comfort and support from her. It’s a big deal for Yang, but it also says a lot about how lonely Yang actually might have felt while growing up. 

I think Yang is a person who not only likes to have a lot of friends and many people around, she also needs it. And some people more than others.

yang being the heart of team RWBY is such a Good concept, not just because of her emblem as barb mentioned in that one panel, but because she fiercely loves each of her teammates with a different kind of love. my guess is that other people have already pointed this out in pretty gif sets (please send them to me! i haven’t seen them and i love this shit!) but the way the show is currently going:

ruby - storge - unconditional love between family members

weiss - philia - love between true friends

blake - eros - passionate, romantic love

i know this isn’t a novel idea, but i’m really in my yang feelings today and felt like gushing about this.
