New Topiaries to Enjoy Each spring, we look forward to the astounding topiaries our Disney horticulture cast create for the festival. This year, more than 70 topiaries, featuring a delightful array of Disney characters as well as other figures and whimsical items, will fill the park. As part of the topiary magic, guests can also look forward to seeing everyone’s favorite dragon, Figment, in the newly opened World Celebration Gardens. Something else we’re excited to share: For the first time, Groot takes root at EPCOT! The flora colossus from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” trilogy will appear near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in World Discovery. Also new this year, guests can look forward to viewing new topiaries from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Wish,” including Asha, Valentino and the Wishing Star, at the park’s main entrance. And in Mexico, we’re thrilled to share that Miguel and Dante from Disney Pixar’s “Coco” will take center stage! Fresh Garden Rocks Concert Series It’s time to dance and sing along to guest favorites as the popular Garden Rocks concert series takes to the American Gardens Theatre stage daily during the festival. First Look at New Disney Treasure ‘Moana’ Show
Tumblr media
We're excited to share more details about “Disney The Tale of Moana,” which will debut exclusively at the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the Disney Treasure in December 2024. With set design and music bursting with elements of Pacific Island cultures which inspire the classic coming-of-age tale, this innovative production will immerse audiences in a transformational adventure across land and sea. Read on for more details and a sneak peek of how “Disney The Tale of Moana” will come to life in the first stage adaptation inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film. Towering Puppets Take Stage To create puppetry that soars to mythical heights, Disney Live Entertainment Creative Director of puppetry and articulation, Jeff Conover, teamed up with master puppet designer Michael Curry, whose creations are featured in Disney's Tony Award-winning musical "The Lion King" on Broadway. Te Kā, the massive, fiery villain guarding Te Fiti, will be a puppet of a scale Disney Cruise Line has never before produced. When Moana meets Te Kā and restores the heart of Te Fiti, the giant Te Kā puppet will shed its fiery shell and become the gentle island goddess, Te Fiti herself. Practice Your “Warrior Face” The stage show will also include a brand new song, “Warrior Face,” performed by Moana and Maui when the demigod teaches Moana how to face her fears before entering the Realm of the Monsters to face Tamatoa. “Warrior Face” will join classic favorites from the Grammy-Award winning soundtrack in the stage show, including “You’re Welcome,” “We Know The Way” and “How Far I’ll Go.” Setting the Scene in “Innocent Warrior” “Disney The Tale of Moana” will begin in modern day on the fictional island of Motunui, in a set design filled with hints of brilliant Pacific Island cultures that will appear throughout the show. The spirit of Gramma Tala, our narrator, will introduce her granddaughter, while through vibrant dance and songs in a mix of languages including Tuvaluan, Tokelauan and Samoan, we will learn how the ocean chooses young Moana for an incredible journey to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Transforming The Walt Disney Theatre in “How Far I’ll Go” In this iconic scene, The Walt Disney Theatre will transform from the island of Motunui into the open ocean as Moana’s journey moves from her home to the great voyage that she’s longed for her entire life. Twinkling stars will swirl overhead and a giant, glowing manta ray will emerge and soar above the audience as a newfound sense of courage fills Moana. The manta ray is the spirit of Gramma Tala, lighting up the sea to accompany Moana on her journey to save her people. This show looks stunning, and we know our guests cannot wait to see Moana’s incredible story unfold in a new way on the Disney Treasure! “Disney The Tale of Moana” will join a dazzling lineup of fan-favorite shows like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure” in the Walt Disney Theatre. Stay tuned for more details about the Disney Treasure as we count down the days until it sets sail in December 2024. Come learn more about Disney Cruise Line Join us for an exciting immersive look at Disney Cruise Line! We're excited to be offering an immersive virtual tour of ships and itineraries on Anchors Aweigh with travel host Cameron Matthews! Read the full article

New Details About Country Bear Musical Jamboree and More!
Tumblr media
We know guests have been itching for an update on Country Bear Musical Jamboree and more coming to Walt Disney World’s Frontierland in 2024 and beyond. So saddle up and let’s get started! Country Bear Musical Jamboree Get ready to knee slap and toe tap to a little country twang this summer! If guests have been too busy trottin’ through the wild west and have missed the news, the Country Bears are getting ready to put on a new show that pays homage to the Opry style shows of Nashville. While the Country Bear Musical Jamboree will include Easter eggs from the beginning to the end including a familiar tune fans may remember, the bears will sing new, reinterpreted Disney tunes in different genres of country music – like bluegrass, pop-country, Americana, rockabilly and other styles. Here’s a look at one of the clips we shared at Destination D23. https://youtu.be/fLAMc6UXv4Q To prepare for the show, Country Bear Jamboree will close temporarily beginning January 27 and will reopen later this summer. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Another attraction a little down yonder in Frontierland is also being reimagined, with incredible detail going into this all-new experience. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film. Picking up where the film left off, guests will join Princess Tiana, jazz-loving alligator Louis and others on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome. Guests may have seen the custom handcrafted weathervane by Louisiana’s master blacksmith, Darryl Reeves, now visible to anyone strolling past Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom. When guests visit Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we want them to feel like they are taking a trip down the Louisiana Bayou in a way only Disney can bring to life. The weathervane does just that, and its installation is another important milestone Cast Members and Imagineers are celebrating ahead of the new adventure opening for our guests later this year. Keep an eye on Disney Travel News as we introduce all the "bayou"-tiful details for this attraction, from new critters to the catchy New Orleans-inspired tunes. And hold those horses, we’re not done yet. We have a lot of growth and investment planned for our theme parks in the coming years and look forward to sharing more announcements about Frontierland... so y’all come back now, ya hear? Top Blacksmith Forges Metal Masterpiece for Disney’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Tumblr media
The next time guests visit Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, they should be sure to look up while passing by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for a striking new update featuring a custom handcrafted weathervane by Louisiana’s master blacksmith, Darryl Reeves. In the spirited city of New Orleans, people can barely walk two blocks before seeing metalwork by Darryl, a 3rd generation master blacksmith and Vietnam Veteran. Whether it’s historic wrought iron fences or intricately designed custom pieces, his work is displayed across the city, and in fact, around the world. With over 50 years of service to his craft and city, it’s no wonder why we asked Darryl to create the weathervane; one of the high points of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Inside Darryl’s workshop in the historic Seventh Ward in New Orleans, heat emanates from the many furnaces used to create his shop’s labors of love. The immense artistry and complexity displayed by Darryl and his apprentices is evident in the dozens of works displayed in his gallery. “I take metal and do anything I want with it,” the master blacksmith proudly says. “To have a free hand to design and fabricate the weathervane for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure…that’s an honor.” Just like a good pot of gumbo, Darryl and his apprentice, Karina, have taken everything they’ve learned throughout their careers to help us tell the story of Princess Tiana and her journey to open Tiana’s Foods. What sets Princess Tiana’s weathervane apart is that it’s crafting using centuries old techniques with a subtle African flair. Guests will be able to feel the love Darryl and Karina have poured into this smoldering iron to shape it into a masterpiece. https://www.youtube.com/embed/jJmnIqBRAlE One of Walt Disney Imagineering’s highest priorities is to bring the authenticity of New Orleans to Disney parks and resorts to immerse Guests in this inspiring tale. When our guests visit Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we want them to feel like taking a trip down the Louisiana Bayou in a way only Disney can bring to life. Guests can experience this smoldering collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering, Darryl Reeves, and Karina Roca when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, an attraction inspired by the story from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “The Princess and the Frog”, opens at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida in 2024. Hatbox Ghost Materializes at the Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World
Tumblr media
Greetings, foolish mortals… We are delighted to inform you the Hatbox Ghost has come out to socialize at the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park! The iconic grim grinning ghost has decided to reveal himself to guests for the first time since his arrival was announced at Destination D23 earlier this year. For those unacquainted with this reclusive resident, the Hatbox Ghost first appeared in the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland Park in 1969. In 2015, he reappeared in the attraction but had yet to show himself at the Magic Kingdom attraction — until now! Materializing next to the Endless Hallway, the Hatbox Ghost emerges through a cobalt blue glass-paned door under the cloak of night. Traces of muddy footprints mark his path as he arranges his cart of hatboxes and luggage. Lit by the moon and the warm glow of a dim lantern, guests come face-to-face with the Hatbox Ghost, grimly grinning as he takes fiendish delight in unnerving visitors with his heady parlor trick. Our Disney Imagineers have been working hard to prepare the Mansion for his arrival — enhancing lighting and updating paint throughout the queue and attraction. But, they’re not the only ones who have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Hatbox Ghost… The 999 happy haunts of the Haunted Mansion are in high spirits, celebrating his appearance by being on their ghoulishly best behavior for this hauntingly grand affair. Come see the Hatbox Ghost for now at the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park! Read the full article

Tumblr media
We are so proud to announce Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be honored with a prestigious Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Attraction in 2024 by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA). Internationally recognized, the Thea Awards acknowledge exceptional achievements in the themed entertainment industry and celebrate the creative teams who bring immersive experiences to life. “On behalf of all Imagineers, I would like to thank TEA for this tremendous recognition of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and for continuing to drive the themed entertainment industry forward,” said Barbara Bouza, president, Walt Disney Imagineering. “As our Imagineering teams push the boundaries of creative storytelling in innovative and exciting ways, it’s always the highest honor for our work to be recognized by friends and colleagues from around the world.” EPCOT has always been a beacon of innovation and imagination, and this tradition has been carried forward with a spectacular new addition to the park — Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. The innovative attraction blasts guests off on an intergalactic chase and is the longest fully enclosed coaster in any Disney park. It also offers several “firsts,” including the first reverse launch for a Disney coaster and the first Disney Omnicoaster ride system, where vehicles make controlled rotations, so guests are always immersed in the action. Throughout the attraction, Disney Imagineers pushed the boundaries of storytelling and technology, creating an experience that perfectly captures the “grandiosity” and fun of the Guardians of the Galaxy. “Congratulations to Walt Disney Imagineering on this well-deserved recognition,” said Jeff Vahle, president, Walt Disney World. “A highlight of our EPCOT transformation, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind combines the Disney hallmark of great storytelling with a ride experience that literally has guests coming back for more.” We are so proud of all Imagineers and partners who created an out-of-this-world experience for our guests, and congratulations to all Thea Award recipients! World Celebration Gardens, ‘Walt the Dreamer’ Debut Dec. 5 at EPCOT
Tumblr media
In celebration of Walt Disney’s birthday on December 5th, guests visiting EPCOT will be able to visit Dreamers Point in the newly-opened World Celebration neighborhood and see our company’s original dreamer in a completely new light. Everyone is invited to imagine alongside Walt himself and look out over World Celebration Gardens together. This new statue, entitled “Walt the Dreamer”, represents Walt later in his life when he was dreaming up the overall Florida Project and the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. He sits with a sense of fulfillment, enjoying the beauty of his realized dream: a park that represents pure optimism and truly celebrates the magic of possibility. This new statue of Walt is one of many areas to visit as a part of World Celebration Gardens where guests will be able to relax, unwind, and connect — to EPCOT, to nature and to each other. Each of the gardens found in the center of World Celebration, including Dreamers Point, will connect back to the areas surrounding them, drawing on the architectural legacy of EPCOT, modern lighting elements and a variety of natural textures. Dreamers Point is named not only for the dreamer that has and continues to inspire us, but also all of us who visit EPCOT every day to celebrate the endless potential and possibility of our world.
