i think what’s helping me most in light of the allegations concerning max is that ive had to remind myself that a tv show is the sum of its parts, dirk gently is the sum of its parts. the show started with max, but it does not end with him. dirk gently is sam barnett, and elijah wood, and jade eshete, and hannah marks, and so many more. dirk gently is all of the writers and directors who have contributed to the show. it is arvind david and other producers, as well as the rest of the creative team behind the show. dirk gently is the fans, it is what we have contributed, it is what it means to us. dirk gently may have started with max, but it’s become more than that.

don’t fault the entire show for what max has done. continue to support the other people who made the show possible, continue to show your love for the show, but acknowledge that there is room for criticism, that creators and other celebrities should not be above that criticism.

if dirk gently ends here mourn it, acknowledge why it happened, and hold onto the rest of the show, remember what you love about it, but don’t ignore its faults

Dirk Gently fans: in the midst of everything, respect each other.

I’m aware that different sides of arguments are being created - - as always I will stand on the side of the victims as I believe it is the correct moral stance - - but nonetheless try to be respectful with one another. Things can get heated, but if we remain calm and kind when conveying points we can avoid unnecessary upset.

The way I see it, victims should be believed in the first instance (for their protection). But I understand some are sceptic of the evidence (perhaps maybe due to attachment to people) and this is causing friction.

Try to avoid threatening others - by all means disagree with them - but treat them as humans. Avoid coming out all torches and pitchforks when as of yet we still have little information on these events. Threats and insults will not help, treat each other kindly please. We will gain nothing by fighting each other. After all, a lack of respect for others is why this situation exists in the first place.

AGH NO CRUD I THOUGHT IT

Don’t think about Dirk getting excited because he’s finally gonna celebrate Christmas for the very first time with his friends instead of all alone.

Don’t think about Dirk buying way too many presents for all his friends.

Don’t think about Dirk decorating the whole office with lights and shiny balls and fake snow and not one but two trees and ok, maybe a mistletoe.

Don’t think about Dirk wearing those ugly huge sweaters with the most ridiculous prints and bright colors every single day of December.

Don’t think about Dirk with a santa hat, all goofy and a bit drunk singing Christmas carols with Tina and Hobbs and Mona while Todd and Farah look funny and fond at him and the rowdies (the six of them) smash a tree.

Don’t think about Dirk crying, literally crying of happiness when he receives his presents, not because of the things themselves, but because now he has a real family who he loves madly and who love him back.
