Several European countries have 'overseas territories' (colonies) in the americas. Denmark's is just the biggest one. They aren't officially part of the EU though

I just found out that Greenland, the island of Greenland, is a territory of DENMARK. And that despite being a part of Denmark and in the European Union, the island is part of North America! It’s not just out there in the middle, it’s both North America AND Denmark!
