summer,
is the season of love. it is the season of kindness and skinned knees and overrall happiness; the season of love of yourself and others. nights spent laying inside, trying to get away from the heat as it never faded from the day. days spent riding bikes, swimming in creeks, walking to gas stations and having simply too much time to do anything and everything. anticipating the days until the next school year, but also fearing how little time you have left. popsicles, cold water, bike rides, water gun fights, bathing the dogs outside because it is just. so. hot. and the freezing water coming from the hose feels just. so. good. days spent on boats, swimming on the lake; nights spent around bonfires, singing camp songs and smiling at all the people who have made you feel happy again, since early september where summer and these happy moments were the farthest away.
the june days in which summer is early; flowers are blooming, the trees are finally getting readjusted to their homes. the animals are happy to have returned, and school seems so far away; their is nothing to worry about in june, where everything is becoming accustomed after the cold winter. june is of the months where it is truly summer.
the july days where it feels as if the rain will never end, but that isn’t necessarily bad because the rain simply provides more opportunities for fun and adventure that awaits. july is the middle child; always presenting new opportunities and equally good as it is bad. the closest we become to the end of july, the closer we are to the beginning of school. but this post isnt about that. july is the middle-man, trying to keep everyone happy while having underlying bad news that everyone knows is their but refuses to acknowledge.
summer is truly where the quote “time is of the essence” comes true. there is so much time, until there isnt. there is so much happiness left to be had, and yet there is also so little. summer is the season in which we are able to breathe. the summer air coarsing through our lungs, helping us to breathe. and yet, the end is so close after such a little amount of time; we have to have had enough happiness to last us the whole eight to nine months, in just a few.
summer is nothing short of the season that never dies. it may be a chilly winter night and we will still feel the hot summer air in our veins, waiting to be felt in a few months time.
summer is only gone when you let it be. save enough of that air for the rest of the air. god forbid, you will need it more than ever in the months following.
