one time i was in a small space with a big goldendoodle service dog & he was petting ME with his face/body & looking up at me asking for pets & i was just like *stares straight ahead because i am trying to be normal but he is putting me in a funny situation* & his owner was like "aw that's not fair, you can pet him.* i think he was new at his job.
there was a nice dog sitting in a bed in the comic book store & i came over to him & was like "can i say hello to you?" & he was like *freeze* *big eyes* so i was like "that's ok, i don't have to!" so i didn't get closer or reach out, so he got out of his bed & was like *aggressively sniffs pants* "you listened to me & respected my boundaries. you may pet now." & that was very kind of him 💜 sometimes dogs just need to know you will listen to them & then they reward you with trust. you have to show them that, just like with a person, you are not entitled to touch them if they don't give you permission. it can be really hard because we all want to touch dogs but you have to respect what the dog wants too. this also goes for cats but their body language tends to be less subtle if you are a stranger to them.

some dogs are VERY easy to read because they will literally have a sign on them that says SERVICE DOG or DO NOT PET & then you just pretend they aren't there, even if you would REALLY like to pet them. they're working & you are an adult; i believe in your ability to be chill.

as a joke it doesn't really make sense. i've heard people pronounce Shein as "SHE-in" which just makes me question how they pronounce vein or rein.
i'm starting a masc alternative to Shein called Heout
