it’s become more normalized and stems from queer people wanting cishet or cishet presenting couples to use the term to protect queer people

it feels far more deep and intimate than “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” in a romantic context, especially considering percy and annabeth’s entire story together

Something about Percy refusing to be a God, yet having all the physical qualities is so funny to me. Like yeah, he’s so strong even the Gods who created the Earth herself fall before him. Yes he acts like he runs the place, but him and his girlfriend do run the place. Sure, he’s survived tragedies filled with so much sorrow you could die of heartbreak. But honestly in the end he’s just some kid who denied immortality at age 12 because he didn’t want to be a dead beat dad.

i like the little touch of grover and percy wondering why the cerberus didn’t follow after them because in actuality, he wasn’t chasing them anyway, he was just a lonely little doggo trying to find a friend to play with and after annabeth vanished, the cerberus probably thought his ball-thrower is gone and there is no one else to replace her. not all who look like monsters are monsters. some are just three-headed dogs longing for head scratches and a round of fetch. 😭😭
