jang uk: agreeing on a blank promise with master heo yeom (who planned to betrothing him with yun ok without jang uk knowing it)

naksu: agreeing on blank promise on helping yul to bring someone for him (high possibility that someone is herself)

If Maid Servant Kim found out how Master Lee and Master Jin treated her adopted son, Jung Uk she would fall for Master Lee in a heartbeat.

Master Jin followed along with Jung Uk’s “father” by keeping his energy locked the entire time when he could have easily unlocked it. Once his power unlocked, Master Jin wanted to banish him so he could never learn how to master his powers. When that didn’t work he tried to lock him away in Songraim forever.

Master Lee on the other hand has helped train him and unlocked his potential. He’s given him creative tasks to master each type of energy he needs. He helped him read the book and master Chisu. If going fishing and having a heart to heart isn’t father son bonding, I dunno what is.

Now I love me some Yul, (soley because, I like seeing Yul having a inner battle between his morals of right and wrong the good ole by the book rules and how he continues to break them for Naksu and becomes conflicted by it 😂) but....

Yul, what exactly is your endgame with trying to win Naksu as a maid and leaving Songrim?!?!?

You think your getting her away from danger doing this, danger will follow this girl regarless. She is on those evil doers radar bruh. This Girl could turn to stone and won't gain her powers back and she will just truly be stuck as a maid FOREVER!

At least Jang UK has a plan. He wants to get stronger not only for himself but for Naksu so that she can get her energy/powers back, on top of knowing the ice stone exist, Jang Uk wants to make sure his love doesn't turn to stone.

But you want to take her further away from where the ice stone to do what?!?! Stare at her longingly from a distance?

I *adore* Yul but the problem is that he's too much like Park Jin.

So warm, so kind hearted, so honorable. Absolutely rubbish at showing their sincerity.

They both struggle with finding a comprise between their sense of duty/honor (protecting Songrim) and their love for someone that endangers that (Uk for Park Jin, Naksu for Yul) and the only way they find is to force their visions onto their loves, for "their own good".

Park Jin loves Uk so much but his birth secret is a danger for... well everyone, so his only way (in his opinion) is banning Uk from his rightful place and forcing him into a life of laziness and powerlessness, so he can at least live in peace (but miserable, mind you)

Yul is realising he can't betray Naksu even though it's very much his duty to do so. His solution seems to be to take her away from the city and I assume, live peacefully out there.

Neither asked Uk and Naksu their opinion. Because to them, Uk/Naksu's lifes are more important.

But what brought Uk and Naksu together since the very beginning is the fact that they'd rather die than live that way.

Uk is continuously beating the odds and becoming more and more powerful, and would Naksu accept to live in the countryside or smthg with Yul, what, as a maid ? Without ever getting her powers/energy back ? No way in hell

Their feelings are sincere but very misplaced. I hope they both find happiness after realising keeping those you love alive is not enough to make them happy.

this drama keeps alternating between middle ages people trying to stop a war and also to get along and mudeok and jang uk arguing or getting into trouble on purpose and people turning into stones and jang uk learning a magic trick and mudeok switching her voice and accent and men fighting for her attention and all of that is woven with comedy and then we get reminders that mudeok's lost her entire family as a small child (and that most of the people she knew then died in front of her eyes) and that she was then taken to be raised as an assassin living on her own with no love or care for her well-being and safety, that she's already on her third identity (and she hears her original name because people are holding a device in her memory), that two of these identities are believed to be dead, that before she met jang uk she only had one friend for one summer, that she's lost all her powers and strength and can't even live in her own body and could lose control of herself at any time

In case Yul needed a confirmation Mu Deok doesn’t want him but Wook, he receives it in the most heart-breaking way. He watched her take Wook’s hand so eagerly and look at him even though she couldn’t see, but she doesn’t spare him even a glance now, rejecting him. 

The childhood sweeheart/first love is over. He has missed his chance with her.
