I think during this project I learnt self-studying, in those weeks I know how to separate my time into different kinds of area.

and I think time management has been improved compared to the last project I did.

Overall I’m happy with my outcome and I'm really enjoying the process of making during this journal.

I design an Instagram page on XD adobe so I need to found an Instagram template for Xd so I just need to put in my image in.

This I design for my Instagram page basely I put as much information into this page, so people will understand what this app will do and how it works. I also put some question mark on the page reflect the people’s curiosity.

This is how looks like in the Instagram page, which I'm really pleased with it.

and also my app icon is also trying to be as simple as possible. 

This is my icon app, has China Town in Chinese and “London” because has lots of Chinatown in the world so I separate them in a different section. 

Overall I think is not bad my app.

I design this page try to be a different feeling to the other pages because I want them to be simple don’t give too much information because the booking page is quite important don’t want to mix up in somehow. So I used this light blue for the background before I was using dark blue but it looks really heavy so I change it to light blue, which works better with the colourful writing. 

After booking a table it will bring you to the booking confirmed page.

If you go “GET ME THERE” will just bring you to the google map page and if you “SKIP” will just bring you to the enjoy page you also can go back to the “HOME” page.

before I design those pages I also looked up “OpenTable”’s pages

I feel it is really normal the design nothing interesting so I want to design something different, I try to make it less is more, just have the key information given for the restaurants nothing else, like the how many people? what time? that it.

However, I think I also need to design an Instagram page to promote my app.

I design a page is gonna be include what must try in that restaurant because some people might don’t know what is special in the restaurant need some recommendation and what is it (I know some people is so fear to eat Chinese food because don’t know what is inside, so I think this page it will be helpful) :)

So those two pages are going with my last colour theme page if you don’t know what is “pig bun” you can just tap it and it will explain it for you and more pig bun’s pictures for you.

after I design this I was wondering to design a booking page it might be useful because If I want to go there but don’t know how to book the table for it, don’t speak Chinese? is fine!!! just use our booking page!! it will help you to solve the problem.

In my way of design, I also like to include the recommended of the restaurant on a list and they will also be separate in different places dishes and from nearest to you to far from you.

in my restaurant list design, I inspired it from the app called “DICE”. the layers from photos and the information.

My own page, I was inspired by the colour they used and the overlay but I think is really good that I also include the key info in a little space, for example. the name, how far away from you, opening time and the piece it might be around... which also has the image for you to get an idea what dish it would be.

I think it works really well with it. I would also develop into more info about each restaurant.

I’m happy with my project because my design is based on my interest. As my nationality is Chinese. I have utilized my knowledge of my hometown culture into this project. I learnt how to modify two different culture together. In other word, this project is a fusion of my origin and foreign together. My app is not just the Restuarant recommendation but the booking is also available. By adding the reservation option, it creates a unique point for my app. This is not something new, this type of app is already existing and quite common, but I find that it is difficult to use for Chinese like me. So I want to target the Chinese market first as I have a strong connection with Chinese Restuarant in Chinatown. The design I made I think it is reflected how the London Chinatown looks like because I'm inspired by it

I research lots of restaurant with high ranking online and also include my own opinion such as what must try in the restaurant.

I really like the way they design this kind of menu which include the Chinese culture, like Chinese letters font and the colour theme.

My design is inspired by the classic Chinese old book at first, but afterwards when I design it out, felt the colour is too dark not looks exciting.

The research I made from different Chinese restaurants website design. 

First design

more develop but I was wondering Japanese, Korean also eat with chopsticks, so I change my mind.

I change to another idea it would colourful, The pattern and the colour are giving a sense of Chinese street at night. I will be using this book as a theme for my home page. My tutor has been giving me advice about the sense of Chinatown. Chinatown we can see a lot of colour from neon light such as a sign on the Restuarant. This is a typical Chinese design. So I have edited my theme and front to be a little bit more colourful. When I close my eyes and think about the street in China. There is a light line growing in the darkness, I can hear noises from crowed pedestrians walking pass by. This sense of Chinese walking will be adjusted to fit with my theme for the app.

The design process will be working on adobe illustrator. This the alter computer program that I have learnt by myself from youtube. I also learned adobe Xd. This Xd program is something new to me. I have never used it before in my entire life and I think it would be difficult. If I can master this software, it could potentially save a lot if my time, especially in my future career.

I have the plan to launch the app from Chinatown. As my nationality is Chinese, I have a strong connection to many Chinese Restuarant. Most of the Restuarant in Chinatown can be placed in my app. It has the potential to gain more users. Many of my friends have requested the name of the Restuarant in Chinatown to eat. I can see that this is a major problem to a visitor or a person who just moved into this city. With my online application, it will state every information regarding Restuarant recommendations. This idea of application does not exist yet. Therefore I think in the pioneer. And this app will make lots of users. My market strategy is to penetrate the Chinese market first, but in the end, I do expect it to be widely spread to every district in London or even to another city and finally globalise it.

So I start it to research online which kinds of restaurants in Chinatown could be recommended, I looked upon “TIMEOUT” and “Chinatown”.

So those are two different kinds of website,” Timeout “ is for the foreigner and “Chinatown” is base for Chinese taste. and my app’s marketing is for both Chinese and Foreigners. it will be helpful if I look up those tow website and combine them into my app.

I have several ideas for my research on this project. Idea 1 is to create a Chinese restaurants map in London using a leaflet. I would like to focus on the location of the Restuarant. I would have to specify the area precisely. I also need to concern a rating in quality and quantity association of the foods given. As well as the cost, is it reasonable or not. And what are the must-eat foods when people come.

I create a mood board to present my idea 1, which I found online.

My Idea 2 is to Create an app for cafes in London, this idea has a similarity with the first idea. But instead of Restuarant, I changed to the cafe. I would like to introduce a cafe in London, I need to state the ranking, selling point and atmosphere clearly on my app. I will have to visit the site to collect this information. I will have to experience it first before recommending to other people. All of these 2 ideas I have proposed, apart from primary research, I need to carry out my secondary research as well. Which I'm planning to do it online.

This is also my idea 2 mood board which include the layout design I might inspire and the information of an app must include.

I must be prepared and make sure everything is done before the next tutorials.

From this project, I feel very confident to create the film on the premiere software. I believe I did well at cut and paste. The outcome is very satisfying. I learned lots of knowledge and techniques from it. Adobe Premiere will be the first computer program that I would use for my future career. The process was not easy but the final result of this project I'm happy. However, I might have to keep developing my skill as there are still a lot more to learn. I plan to master this application, it would potentially expand the route of my design. My aim for this project is I want to encourage young people to go out to travel in those places that I’d recommended and these places must be experienced by myself first.

I created my own version of emojis. It was harder than I thought and will take more to complete it. So I decide to remove it. I need to make sure that the song and the image are matching with each other as well as the timeline. This process is time-consuming but it is worth trying. In the end, it looks very impressed and satisfying. Overall, this project helps me become a self-learner person, Improve various skills and time management very well. The experience that I gained from this project will be used in my future career and me so proud of myself. I’m pretty sure I would have the opportunity to utilise this knowledge and skills in the future.

I found out it was difficult to use adobe premiere. However, I have put all my effort into learning from youtube. I also found the Gifs and emojis can be interesting. I had put them into my video as well. There is one problem that emoji can only be obtained from Google and cause more complexity when using. 

such as those, but it was a good try!

I decided to add more gifs instead and not using emoji anymore. Songs that are used in the video is from the youtube. I made sure there is no copyright and legal to use. The Tokyo clip music was from the weibo which it is a Chinese social media app and I dm the creator to ask questions regarding this song also a permission to use. This song is very suitable for my video.

The short trip in Amsterdam was very enjoyable. I went to tokyo for a vacation and then I find out there are some parts of the short video that I took at the tokyo can be merge down to this project. I was planning to become a vlogger, so every places I have been, I would record a short clips and then combined them together using the application call adobe premiere on my computer. This application was not difficult to use. Every can be learnt from internet. I used my self-learning skill to completed the job. These video I took are very helpful. And they will be used again for any further project in the future.

Unfortunately, there was no hostel available at the time we went because of the late booking. So we decided to stay at the hotel instead, the price of the hotel is more expensive than the hostel of course. However we didn't have many options, we had to make ourselves comfortable for the research as much as possible.

We learned about the bicycle management in town, we also had experienced it ourselves. The city organisation was fantastic. I was surprised at how the government operates a bicycle lane system perfectly with a tram system. The integration between each transportation is very safe and systematic.

Van Gogh is one significant landmark of Amsterdam. It is a very famous museum in the world if you are the student the discount is also applicable. The museum contains a lot of artwork and inspiration. The museum is huge and could potentially get lost, also very crowded. I suggested to go with a group or partner, it will be much safe. Another thing that must be concern is to beware of pick more pocket.

One of the best cheese in the world came from Amsterdam. The texture and taste were very unique. I think cheese is one significant highlight of coming to Amsterdam. As well as the building, I have been travelling around Europe and I'm confidently saying that nowhere is interesting in term of building and architecture in Amsterdam.

From YCN project, I’m choosing the hostel one, I started to research on the website see where young people go for holiday and what to do.(https://www.iamsterdam.com/en/see-and-do/things-to-do/top-20-things-to-do-in-amsterdam) So I saw many young people like to go to Amsterdam. According to the research, Amsterdam had legalised marijuana and magic mushroom. This action consequently leads Amsterdam to become top destinations that people visit in the world. Many teens and young adults come to Amsterdam for the same reason, which is to use and study the different type of marijuana. I decided to go to Amsterdam to explore and record my journey regarding tourism and activities. There are many things to do in Amsterdam apart from marijuana such as cruising, visiting the museum (Van Gogh) and visit the red light district.

Unit 6 type font final

This is my final font looks like I think is looking alright but if I can improve I will improve on the O and Q to make it more perfect!!

This is my poster I think the colour is really good it shows my concept (the semicircles are falling and are building from the bottom) this idea is inspired by the LEGO like a toy machine and colour is also inspired by them.

I’m pretty happy with this project and happy with the result.

I start to create my poster by using the font I create because is made up by semicircles so I like to create lots of the semicircles with font and it makes me thinking of legos, so I will using lego colours to create the posters.

It will be base on those colours in my poster.
