PSA!
to anyone who is rapidly loosing weight from a higher starting weight, make sure you are taking vitamins that include vitamin E and collagen!!! It also helps to include seaweed like nori in your diet.
If you fast too often and drop weight too quickly, you can get left with excess skin. I have seen a lot of posts being afraid of this, and I admit that it scares me too sometimes. So I wanted to make a post to share some helpful info regarding the topic.
Some people experience it worse than others, and it's partially genetics and age but there's some things you can do to help!
1. Drink lots of water! I know you probably already do this, but it helps keep your skin healthy and elastic
2. include seaweeds like nori and seaweed salad in your diet. It has antioxidants that keep your skin healthy!
3. include vitamin E and Collagen in your diet when trying to loose weight. You do not have to spend a ton of money on collagen pills, but you will need to buy some cheap vitamin E suppliments. ONLY TAKE A VITAMIN E SUPPLIMENT ONCE EVERY 3 OR 4 DAYS!!!!! do not ever overdo it on vitamin E because it's not a water soluble vitamin and can basically be overdosed if you take too much. The amount in daily multivitamins is safe for daily consumption but the vitamins that are only Vitamin E capsules have higher levels.
Include bone broth in your diet or cooking a few times a week to get the collagen your body needs to shrink the skin.
4. Do workouts that tone your stomach and arms! this can help keep the muscles building and taunt and can keep the sagging skin from happening.
5. Swim often while loosing weight!! I know it's a pandemic and it's difficult to find a open pool right now, so don't endanger your health by going out in a crowded place!!! But if you have a safe pool to access it can help tone all of your muscles while remaining lean and is easier than hardcore workouts while burning as many calories.
6. If you start seeing sagging skin, include more calories in your diet to stop from loosing so quickly. I know people want to loose as fast as possible, but you have to give your body time to adjust and your skin time to shrink. Rapid weight loss is great but you won't have to worry as much about the excess skin if you take things a little slower. This is only necessary though if you are struggling with the skin, and it won't be necessary for everyone.
One last thing! If you have excess skin, don't beat yourself up about it! you are beautiful and healthy and you should not feel bad about a little extra skin. There is nothing wrong with it at all!!!! Go easy on yourself <3
