Notes: NSFW (As implied by the title). I'm trying to break myself out of some writers block right now, so these might not be satisfactory.

♥︎ You won't get to this stage in your relationship for a while. After all, Ithaqua sees sex as a lot to share with someone. At this point, he's comfortable having his mask off around you, but he'd still prefer that the setting remain his dark bedroom. He's quite good at seeing in the dark, so he can navigate it well. Though if you can't see, he certainly wouldn't mind guiding your hands to where he'd like for them to go.

Notes: EHEHE. I HAVE A RECURRING ANON. EHEHEHEHEHEHE. YIPPEE. Also, I decided to go with a story format for this one, which is why the title's more creative. I also apologize if this is short.

You'd made a few silly mistakes and hoped like hell that would be the end of it. You hoped that maybe your team could recover and perhaps even achieve a win or a tie, though you knew the moment you were placed on that godforsaken chair for the final time that whatever victory your team achieved, you certainly wouldn't have contributed a damn thing to it.

And to hurt your pride even further, like it was all some kind of sick joke that some unknown deity of probability was playing on you specifically, it soon became as clear as day while you spectated that not one Survivor was going to make it out of that match. Was it your fault? At a certain point, they should be able to get the game back on track, right? But they'd have had a much easier time if you hadn't messed everything up like a complete and utter moron.

Now that you've gone and made yourself look like a fool, a failure, and a god damned mess, you've decided to spend the rest of the day in your room. By yourself. With no-one around to see how insanely stupid you are. Maybe if you read a book or something, you'd get smart enough to not make such dumb decisions! Maybe! Who knows! But whatever you choose to do with your time in here, you're sure as hell not about to out there so you can hear all the things they're going to say about you. You just can't bear to face them right now.

So, your room is where you've been for the past few hours. On one hand, you haven't been busy since that pathetic match. But on the other, that match being your last for the day means you'll have no chance to redeem yourself until tomorrow.

You swear that next time, you won't let those pitiful Hunters taste even a single victory if you can help it. You won't let them strike even a single one of your allies. They'd have to get through you first. But how could you even be that good? Wasn't your little display today proof enough that you can't do a single thing right? You have to get better. You have to do better. You have to-

"[Y/N]? I know you are in there. You have not left your room since your most recent match, a match your team unfortunately lost. I have reason to express concern."

There is a soft knock at the door, startling you and returning you to reality. You're in your room. Aside from the knock at your door a few seconds ago, it's dead silent and it has been for a while. Maybe, if you breathe quietly enough and don't answer the door, whoever it is will leave you be.

What could they even be here for? To mock you? To ridicule you for your poor performance today? Why would someone even go out of their way to do that? How sickening. You won't allow them even the chance.

You hear a second, slightly louder knock at the door, followed by a voice you know you'd never hear mock you. Not in a million years, no matter what he'd ever become, reptilian or even further into the future than that.

You let the voice and words of the professor sit in your mind for a moment before finally opening the door a bit. You trusted him to see you upset. You two were quite fond of eachother. Quite romantically attached, despite everything. After all, facing the incomprehensible is much easier when you aren't alone.

"Ah, [Y/N]. Are you alright? You seem... Unwell."

Your expression shifts into something more content and you silently open the door further and step out of the way, indicating an invitation into your room. After closing the door, you finally confirm your reasons for being so upset, while Luchino nods attentively, waiting patiently for you to finish your explanation.

He sits down, gestures for you to do the same, clears his throat, and politely offers his hand to place yours in. Almost hesitantly due to your mood, you place your hand in his.

Wow. What a strong start.

He's naturally not the most skilled when it comes to social interactions, but he's more than capable of using his intelligence and observations to get him through most conversations. However, he's more nervous than he normally would be right now because the quality of his lover's evening is on the line. One could tell by how hesitant he is to even speak.

"Failure is... Necessary, I believe."

"Through imperfections, one can learn and improve to a degree to a degree where they become almost unrecognizable. Do you think you are the same person you were when you first started? You are not and neither am I."

You'd always be the first to hear of all of the things he had to say, his failures and his accomplishments alike. Just as long as no messes were made, he'd always been happy to let you witness every little thing he'd ever discovered, no matter how beautiful and no matter how objectively disgusting. He was proud of every bit of it.

"You've come far, you'll always continue to progress, and it is not your fault that another happened to perform more skillfully. I fail too, at times. Disgracefully, in fact. I think everyone fails sometimes, just as everyone should. ♥︎ So I've always seen Ithaqua as more of an outercourse person, so that he can keep his clothes on because he's more comfortable that way. But there may come a point where he decides it's time to take his clothes off and let himself be even more vulnerable.

♥︎ At around the time he lets you lie in his bed, he's become comfortable enough to take his mask off when it's just the two of you. He shares his face with one of the most horrible humans to ever walk the earth, but maybe in a dark bedroom, his flesh can be just his.

♥︎ Immediately after you've both decided you're satisfied, he wants to take a moment to check you for even the most insignificant injuries. Any place he may have accidently dug his nails into your skin or perhaps nibbled a bit if you requested that. To keep you safe and unharmed is something he strongly desires. If a bit of pain is what you request, he can be persuaded, but he's not comfortable with anything beyond a few small bites. Any mark he finds, he'll take good care of, examining it carefully and doing everything in his power to ensure that this nonexistent wound won't get infected or anything. He hasn't even broken the skin anywhere. He just worries about you sometimes.

♥︎ Earlier, I mentioned his desire to remain in his clothes because it's obviously going to affect clean-up. Whatever there is to clean, whether it be clothes or sheets or both, you'll handle it together. Also, it's registered in his mind by now that he's done well, so he's in a rather good mood. Expect for him to giggle a lot and sneak kisses whenever he can.

♥︎ Once you're both done cleaning, it's about time you two sleep. If you'd still like to and you have nowhere to go, he'd love for you to sleep in his bed. He wants for you to fall asleep in his embrace while he runs his fingers through your hair (Though if your hair texture won't allow it or your hair isn't long enough, he'd instead choose to caress your face) and whispers to you about all the good things tomorrow will bring. He has trouble sleeping, so he won't fall asleep for an hour or so. But knowing that he brought you enough comfort for you to fall asleep in his arms might make drifting off just a bit easier for him tonight because whatever may happen tomorrow, he knows you'll face it together.

Thank you. I try to analyze the characters before I write for them. I want to get an idea of their thought processes and beliefs and such before I write for them. It's very important to me that I portray characters in a way that is as accurate as possible.

It seems to me that while Ithaqua has rejected society and humanity, the society he has rejected is one that jumps to conclusions, has pointless rules, and promotes cruelty. The barbaric philosophy he has chosen to adopt seems like it promotes being kind, gentle, and protective towards those who you are on good terms with, but hostile and violent with those who might cause pain to you and your loved ones.

The wiki says he tends to toy with those who enter the forest, but sadism would be counterproductive. So I've speculated, and there is little evidence to back this up, that he doesn't actually feel like killing them most of the time. All the traps and taunting is a warning and if they're so determined to be in the woods despite the cold and the traps and the obvious danger, how good could their intentions be? This "toying" is, in his mind, a test to determine how good these people are. And while there are some flaws in his logic, the people he's killing are likely part of the same village full of people that either tortured his mother or sat on their asses and watched it happen. I don't blame him for being hostile, considering what he's witnessed.

Additionally, there is a line of dialogue on the wiki that I don't have context for because I'm new to the fandom and I wasn't there for it, but he sorta threatens the audience for equating barbarism with stupidity. But the way he goes about the threat is more of a warning, in my opinion. He doesn't say he will get get violent because they've already made him mad, but rather because if they continue to be ignorant, they will make him mad. The audience is being given a chance to correct their behavior before he gets violent.

Also, it's noted that a few people have survived the hunting attempts I mentioned before. If he wanted them dead, he'd have killed them immediately. And I have to point out, why would a village full of judgemental witch hunters ever see his tests and mercy as anything more than torment that they've miraculously escaped? Furthermore, his gameplay abilities have nothing to with tormenting his prey in a manner that they can escape if they pray hard enough. His abilities, in a scenario where he has a reason to kill, are extremely direct. He can move quickly and pull Survivors closer to him. No traps, no toying, and no messing around. Just quick and efficient murder attempts. Animals typically don't kill without reason or act more cruel than needed. That's a trait that is most commonly seen in humans, and that aspect of humanity is the very thing he's rejected.

I've also considered that it might be a Sweeney Todd "Epiphany" situation, where he considers everyone to be either too terrible to deserve living or so miserable that killing them would be mercy, but his mother is extremely miserable and she's probably still alive, so that can't be the case.

Speaking of his mother, he takes care of her and does so quite well, considering he's been able to keep her alive. I've noted that in the official art where they were near eachother, he seems to be close enough to her for to know he's there (And I'm sure she is way too deep into dissociation to be too responsive to her environment), but far enough away that she has her personal space and she won't freak out. That tells me he's observant and careful, which is further backed up by the fact that he canonically knows how to hunt. To hunt, you must be able to observe your prey and act accordingly or you won't catch much of anything. He's able to read people's body language and facial expressions quite well, it seems. I mean, he's able to read the body language and facial expressions of a woman who is barely mentally there and has been rendered almost completely mute due to trauma.

I also think one's status means nothing to him. To him, you're both just beings with thoughts, feelings, and free will. You both have the ability to do everything right and everything wrong. If you want to get close to him in any manner, take inspiration from his mother and be kind to others, gather evidence before condemning someone, and don't accept any cruelty, whether it be directed at yourself or someone else. That shows that despite your ability to be cruel, you still choose to be kind and treat others with fairness.

Note that his concept of what is fair has been warped by trauma. He sees condemning people for made-up witchcraft to be wrong and ignorant, but has no issue with killing people for being in the forest for too long. Some of the people he's killed might be totally innocent, but he's judging them based on how fast they leave the forest once they realize they're being hunted, because if they really want to be there that badly, they must have reasons and those reasons must be bad. And a person with bad intentions can never be allowed anywhere near his mother. She's been through enough and he'd rather test, scare, and more than likely kill a thousand people before he lets her feel any more pain.

♥︎ To start with, he already understands the importance of it to a certain extent. He knows it's purpose regarding one's physical health, but he is unaware of its mental and emotional benefits. Tending to your body is something that he knows to do, but tending to your mind is a need he'd have to be made aware of.

♥︎ He is very aware of his own physical state, and yours as well. He strikes me as the type to take into consideration the past and pay extremely close attention to the present so that the future can be made satisfactory. A missed detail now is something he'll pay for later, but a pre-discussed calculated risk can yield incredible results, and that philosophy is applied in small ways throughout his life outside of his research.

♥︎ His first thought regarding aftercare is ensuring you're both clean, preferably by bathing together. To conserve water. That's certainly the reason. He's definitely not putty in your hands and thoroughly enjoying the way your skin feels against his (This is sarcasm. He absolutely is <3).

♥︎ During all this time, he'd like to talk about how each of you felt and exchange constructive criticism, but unless you tell him about your emotional needs, you'll find discussion of your current feelings to be absent. It's not that he doesn't care. He absolutely does. It just seems that while making sure you're both physically okay, he's forgotten to make sure you're mentally okay.

♥︎ Additionally, he'd also like to take this time to address and take care of any physical wounds either of you may have recieved inside or outside of the bedroom.

♥︎ After cleaning, talking, and getting some clothes on, he's concerned about your energy. He's resilient so just sit and look pretty while he changes the sheets. And while he's doing that, give him some ideas for what to eat. Tired or not, having a bite to eat is never a bad idea, the way he somewhat awkwardly puts it.

♥︎ When it's time to sleep (And he'll certainly be suggesting a nap unless you're visibly upset with him), he'll want to be as close to you as possible. You're warmer than he is and if you let him be that close, that must mean he's doing this right.

♥︎ If you want to make this more enjoyable for him, answer his questions, give feedback, and for the love of god, touch him. From his work with reptiles, he has a habit of paying very close attention to everything that touches him, and that includes you. And again, he's naturally very cold and you're more than likely warmer than he is.

♥︎ Ultimately, he's trying. Based on what he knows about intimacy, he has created a mental checklist of what must be done, but initially failed to factor in emotional needs and will reassess if corrected. He accepts and encourages feedback. Hell, he considers feedback to be a sign that he's doing a good job. He's a little awkward and inexperienced, but he's trying to apply what he knows about science to intimacy. Whether or not that thought process is working is up to you to decide.

Ithaqua Relationship Headcanons 🧁!

Notes: TW for vague implications of SH and vague implications of an ED (But it's vague enough that you could interpret it as either one).

♥︎ So the first thing I think you need to know is that he'd really prefer to start out as friends. To get to know you. To learn about you. He wants to know what your intentions are and what kind of person you are before he even considers allowing you that kind of role in his life.

♥︎ I think he'd most admire a person who is gentle towards others (Especially animals), treats others with a sense of understanding, and has a sense of humor. He'd also find people who insist with complete seriousness that they are superior to everyone around them to be a bit annoying. He believes there is no one right way to be and that insisting that everyone must act the way you do is just plain wrong.

♥︎ Speaking of gifts, expect for him to bring you random small things he finds like he's some kind of odd bird. If you also start bringing him random things you find, he will be ecstatic that you both have your little collections and he'll consider it to be a silly little competition to see who can get the other more tiny objects.

♥︎ The second thing you need to know is that when you do end up in a romantic relationship with him, he will talk to you less but spend time with you more. He's not completely silent. He's just a bit quieter now. He's gotten to know you. He's getting more and more comfortable around you. It will take him a few months to get comfortable with physical contact since that's something that feels somewhat foreign to him, but he'll find himself becoming more physically affectionate with time. Early on, though, he's definitely more likely to gravitate towards quality time and gifts.

♥︎ It will be a while before you see his face. He doesn't seem to like removing his mask a whole lot and he isn't too fond of physical contact, so he keeps his skin covered most of the time too.

♥︎ If you want to give him physical affection, I'd recommend just some hand-holding. He'd find the sudden contact to be a pleasant and welcome surprise if you're both at the point where you're comfortable with it. I'd say if he's giving you affection, he's comfortable receiving it.

♥︎ While he doesn't use words much, he's a bit of a giggly bitch when he's in a good mood. And hearing you laugh is a comfort to him. He likes to make you laugh until your sides hurt. He doesn't like to see you suffering or in pain, but he likes knowing that you're having fun.

♥︎ I want to make it extremely fucking clear that too much has happened in the past for him to ever forgive himself if anything happens to you. If anyone ever seriously hurts you, whether it be physically or mentally, comforting you his top priority, but he will at least consider killing whoever caused your pain. If he can do it and not get caught, he will. And he won't let you do it unless you're really insistent. Best to keep the blood off your hands, you know? You shouldn't have to watch the life leave a person. That could hurt you further and he doesn't want that.

♥︎ Speaking of comfort, he's become quite good at it. He'll learn in time to pick up on your body language to figure out what you need at the moment. This will be a time where he does speak to you, to tell you that no-one will hurt you while he's around and that he won't hurt you either. He wouldn't dream of it. You don't have to tell him what happened, though he'll listen to every word if you choose to confide in him. What you ought to tell him, though, is what he can do to help. Because he'll do his god damn best to make you feel better. That being said, he'll usually prioritize what you need over what you want. If you want to do something that's bad for you, he won't entirely deprive you of your choice in the matter and he'll listen to your reasoning, but he will argue with you over it.

♥︎ He has trouble sleeping. He lies awake at night for hours sometimes, just listening to the world around him and waiting for something bad to happen. During this time, it's best to just talk to him. He won't verbally respond much because he just doesn't feel like it, but he will be more okay with physical affection. It's a reminder that you're there and you're not going anywhere.

♥︎ And speaking of sleeping, he's probably the type to make a nest or fort of sorts from the blankets. Something to keep both of you warm, assuming you're both comfortable sleeping in the same bed. His body is quite warm and he prefers the cold most of the time, but while he's resting is one of the few exceptions. The warmth can be overwhelming to him at times, but it's always felt like an embrace to him. He finds it physically uncomfortable, but emotionally soothing.

♥︎ He doesn't like when he's alone and it's quiet. His mother is alive as far as I can tell, but she doesn't speak anymore. For a long while, you won't be allowed around her because she's terrified of you. It's not personal. She's just not entirely there anymore. She's like a prey animal. While she may initally come off as docile, she's nonverbal, scared that everything that moves will harm her, and hardly the same person she used to be. If you want to interact with her, be patient and don't you dare ever insult or harm her. In Ithaqua's mind, you are a delight, but that will change real fucking quick if you hurt his mother, intentionally or unintentionally. He'd be a little more understanding if it was unintentional, but he'd be very upset with you for a few days. If you want to make it up to them, make his mom a gift and let him give it to her. After whatever you may have done, you won't be able to interact with her directly for a long while. He just doesn't want to see her get hurt again and his attachment to her is stronger than his attachment to anyone else. You're very dear to him, but his mother is his mother.

♥︎ If he's upset with you for any reason, he'll mostly be silent and avoid you until he isn't upset anymore, which will probably take two days or so. After that, he'd be open to talking with you about whatever may have upset him. He just doesn't want to confront the situation until he's thought about it and made sure he's calm enough to handle everything rationally. During the conversation about what happened, he won't insult you with malicious intent. He wants you to understand why he's upset and he might accidentally say something hurtful while trying to get his point across. He doesn't mean to and he feels extremely guilty over it. If he sees you're upset, he'll take a deep breath, assess the situation, and try to be a little more gentle with how he handles things like this in the future, though he won't stop trying to talk about these kinds of things with you because you're a person with free will and the ability to make mistakes, and god damn it he's gonna treat you like a person because that's what you deserve.

♥︎ When he's upset but not at you, he'll be even less talkative and even more physically affectionate. You're very dear to him and he finds comfort in just knowing you exist.

♥︎ Overall, he's very gentle and affectionate with those he cares about, but in a way that can come off as cold and uninterested depending on how you interpret social interactions. To him, you are both just living beings and he accepts all of the good and the bad that comes with that. You chose him and he chose you and every day, you continue choosing eachother and he's grateful for that.
