It’s maddening to me that people disregard James as being traumatized at what he did and that Maria is just supposed to be his eye candy or something. Like did we play the same game??? James doesn’t fuckin walk out his car stare out at Silent Hill and go “yup. Got a letter from my Killed wife who was so Killed by me. Hated that bitch but this place was wicked awesome so I’ll check it out anyways in search of some pussy.” It’s so incredibly made clear that James spends most of the game remembering what he did BECAUSE he hated it. Everything in the game points towards the fact that James regrets killing Mary.

Maria is an unfortunate creation by the powers that be of Silent Hill to squeeze the torment sludge out of James, but Maria isnt a manifestation of James’ desire to plug some hole, her looks are entirely made that way to remind James of a Mary before she became ill. The exagerated visage of a healthy Mary that didn’t verbally abuse him. But Maria isn’t this, she is constantly trying to get James to realize that she is her own person. A healthy Mary isn’t real, James didn’t get to have that, but he so desperately wanted it. Because the sick Mary he would visit and try to show love to, at a point where her succumbing to the illness seemed inevitable, admonished him. It’s heart-wrenching to think about this - that a person you so dearly love seems to become so virulent in their last moments. Maria in every ending dies because this dreamlike Mary does not and cannot exist.

This isn’t to demonize Mary either. Mary clearly regrets that James’ last moments with her were so demeaning to him. She didn’t want James to suffer as she did but the bleakness of her situation got to her. It sucked the vigor out of both of them. The culmination was a horribly drastic action of simply wanting it to stop. James and Mary both recognize this, and Mary isn’t satisfied that James is suffering more because of her. Theres still a certain anger that she was murdered by him, I think, but the torment that followed isn’t something thats pleasing to her. It’s enough. The torture he endures deserves an end by her eyes.

Sorry for going off on a tangent in your rbs lol it’s just average gamer analysis of a video game story makes me more and more cynical at gamers as years go on. James being casted as this idiot horndog who actually wanted to kill and is willing to do it again on the same level as Eddie really sticks an icepick in my skull so im glad there are other people with the same sentiment.

GUE CHAPTER 4: LIVING DEAD

[But first: a brief message from the creator, which would have appeared BEFORE the comic, if I didn't just barely slide in under tumblrs 30 image limit]

Hello Everyone,

I was in the process of inking this comic when I suffered my debilitating hand injury, which set me back nearly a year. Even before I injured myself, I never intended for GUE 4 to take this long— and so in the interest of expediting it’s release, I took some shortcuts in the inking process through the use of generative AI.

Hah! Just kidding. But now it sounds less bad to say that I did save time by using modified pencilwork in place of inks, and the result is an end product that is decidedly a little rough.

I promise, nobody is upset about this as much as I am; I really wanted to present everyone with a perfect end product. But creative stuff like this has a half-life, and as much as I am proud of my work on GUE 4, I am ready to move on and get to work on other projects. (Maybe even… GUE 5? )

If it makes you feel better, just pretend that I’m the Thief And The Cobbler guy, and that GUE 4 is merely an unfinished masterwork pieced together after my untimely death at the hands of Disney gestapo. (Or whatever actually happened to him-- It’s funnier if I don’t look it up. Haha. Parody. Don’t sue me Disney)

And please, don’t freak out when you get to page 5. I started using a new drafting method while working on this comic, and I promise the art gets cleaner quickly. In fact, I think an adapted version of the rough inking method I used here can actually be used to in the future for faster turnaround, without sacrificing quality. Many exciting adventures await.

actually adding onto this i never knew that it was just the Transgender Laser Beam that did it. thanks to the fucked up alien who wants to kill people for fun

if i was put in a fighting game i would want a separate character that was a clone fighter of me, and that clone fighter just being me pre-transition.

this thought came about because i was thinking of what my palette swap costumes would be and i think i have too many outfits that i consider to be iconic from when i was still estrogen deprived.
