Hood didn’t need to look over his shoulder to know the Chief was conducting a consistent threat assessment. It was par for the course with a Spartan, let alone The Master Chief.

Hood acknowledged his mental capitalization of the Chief’s title, well aware that in this case it was warranted based on most members of the UNSC assumed him to be infallible.

But Hood? Hood knew that even Spartans needed to know—to understand—they weren’t always in danger. That they were safe.

“Master Chief, at ease, son.”

But he didn’t tack on to that, not yet. First? First he needed to see how John reacted to what was phrased intentionally ambiguously.

Was it an order? A suggestion?

That was up to John to decide.

And Hood was intensely curious which choice the Spartan would make.

Hood hooked a left towards the ship’s atrium, steps slow but purposeful as he awaited the Chief’s reaction.

110, 111, 112..

Instinct. Hood wasn’t even sure when he’d started counting his steps anymore.

The past several months—perhaps longer, Terrence’s sense of time often failed him due to the sheer amount of information he processed each day—had been a lot, even for Terrence Hood. Talking with the Spartan provided him an.. outlet, for lack of a better word.

Not that he’d dare let anyone know that.

Knowing The Office, they’d probably try and interrogate the Chief for some sort of leverage on him.

Plus, he hadn’t spoken to the Master Chief in months. Not since he’d needed a new chair in his office.

Hood pressed himself to his feet, and slipped past John out into the corridor. He knew the Spartan would follow. Whether he wanted to or not.

Hood wasn’t above using that. Hood wasn’t above anything when it was necessary.

After all, Hood had a plan.

Hood always had a plan.

Hood is both empathetic and compassionate.

He just isn’t very good at expressing it.

He isn’t the best at taking social cues, being far more used to bluntness. The only time he can be almost impossibly subtle is in international relations.

People are utterly baffled when Hood asks about their well-being.

i am a forgetful role player.

     sometimes i will post inbox calls, starter calls or interaction calls and i will happily begin … when i have muse for it, and sometimes i will lack muse, and i may forget about it all.

     that is not because of you, the other part.

     forgetfulness is something that we often frown upon, take as an insult directly towards us as a person. “but they never write to me”, “they always forget about me”, “i’m not gonna interact because they always forget” and while these things are totally valid, it must be said that forgetting things are human. not only is it human, but we should allow role players to be forgetful every now and then, simply because many, if not all, have lives outside of Tumblr that require a lot of them.

     my forgetfulness is never directed towards you as a person.

     my forgetfulness is never directed towards your creations.

     sometimes i forget because …

i am tired.

i have a lot on my mind.

i get lost in other tasks.

i have to prioritize.

i bite over more than i can chew.

i simply forget.

     therefore it must be said, have patience. reach out. don’t just sit back and huff about how you “always seem to be forgotten”. some folks have a lot on their minds, and that needs to be allowed.
